Riza is my waifu. I'll probably go back to D!CE with a human version of Rarity sometime or another... probably.

I think it is worth noting for posterity that my avatar is currently wearing the Force A Nature and Sven the Penguin.

Guess what I'm doing! If you guessed, effing about with TF2 some more, you win the grand prize*
I just couldn't imagine a life without it anymore, ya know?
Well, actually, I'm having to re-validate the Steam cache again so I can help my boyfriend get his penguin. I guess that whole force-quitting-TF2-while-it's-frozen-and-using-low-level-system-commands-to-restart-the-computer thing jeopardizes the integrity yadda, yadda, yadda.
I hate myself sometimes. Why do I feel the need to complain to you guys about every single mishap I run into? (complaining is fun)
*there is no grand prize, sorry

It crashed twice trying to validate the cache, so I decided to defrag TF2 (even though pretty everyone says that never helps). It managed to defrag without any difficulties. I tried to open TF2 and Steam froze. Freezing is better than crashing, and the rest of the computer isn't frozen, and it's 3 am, so I'm just going to count that one as a win and do nothing.
See, every other time something's gone wrong, I tried to fix it, but then something else would go wrong. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I should stop trying to fix things. Or maybe I'm just too tired to do anything about it. I'm gonna watch TV on Netflix and go to sleep and not look at it 'till morning. It'll have miraculously fixed itself, and Boyfriend will have his penguin.
I bet I'm in the other room checking on Steam within ten minutes...

I think I've figured out my method:
Open Steam. Open TF2 in textmode via terminal. Wait forever for TF2 to open. Wait until Steam crashes. You now have Tux.
(I'm currently on the wait forever step, so there's still a really good chance it isn't going to work.)
Edit: New method
Open Steam. Open TF2 in textmode via terminal. Wait for a while for TF2 to open. Realize everything crashed. Alt-Sysreq-REISUB Open Steam. Validate cache. (this is where I am now) Open TF2 Everything crashes Have Tux
Edit 2: Nevermind. This game hates me.

This is just proving more and more to me not to ever bother with Linux. I'm sorry for putting you through all this frustration, Roisu. neutral I'll just settle with this as my steam avi for now I got lazy when it came to colouring. Like usual. bluh...

D'awww, what a cutie.
And don't worry. Regardless of all the complaints, I really don't mind effing around in Linux. I'm way too much of a computer nerd to not find this a little bit fun.
Really, though, Linux is pretty great. I don't recommend it for gaming. And I recommend getting an entire computer dedicated to it. Don't use a virtual machine or dual boot like me. Also, don't try to play TF2 on a computer that can't play it.

It's giving me that game unavailable message that I could never get rid of when I tried on my virtual machine. Shutting off the computer for the night, and if it doesn't work in the morning, I might finally give up.

I'm giving up. Sorry, everyone.
Earlier today, I turned on Ubuntu and opened Steam and was struck with a profound sadness and weariness. It's like, it's not even working, so why should I keep messing with it? I think I'd be getting depressed over this even if I wasn't PMDDing. It's like PMS on crack.
