"But I will acknowledge that it's hard to compare something as simple as food to something as complicated as relationships. Food is a small, good thing." He took in an unnecessary breath. Relationships? Perhaps not. An accident with food could kill you. An accident with relationships.. Could make you wish you were dead. But none of that really mattered if you were already cold to the touch, now did it?

Xiu's expression was flat as she stared at the vampire, but after a beat of silence, her expression shifted. Lifting a brow, she stared at him in disbelief before throwing her hands up in the air. "Even if I said yes, why would I say something like that?" She paused, and then lifted her index finger and held it out in front of him.
"I'm not saying yes, but I'm not necessarily, positively saying no either. You can't just...skip the friendship stage, you know?" ...And he was in the bad books with some of her best friends.

"Because I know you like the way this-" he gestured towards himself. "-looks." Lou's brows waggled. "I see the way you stare at me. Checkin' me out all inconspicuously." It was mostly wishful thinking coupled with a vivid imagination and blinding egotism, really, but a man could dream. He licked his finger and touched it to his skin, a sizzling sound following soon after. "I'm hot."
But it seemed as if she wouldn't budge on this. Either he made a compromise or he went home empty handed, and he was not ready to give up. His face grew serious, or at least, as serious as Lou got. "Okay." He sighed. "How about this, then." The vampire rubbed his chin as he thought carefully about how to phrase his words. "A different kind of exchange. I will do something with you in the name of 'friendship', but you have to agree to go on a date with me at a later time."

Xiu watched him, completely blank-faced as he spoke. It wasn't until he made the silly sizzling sound that her expression finally shifted, lips curving into a faint grimace and brows knitting together. "You have a very big imagination Lou," She answered evenly, "I have not been checking you out. I don't even really know what that's supposed to mean!"
The baku eyed him warily at the sudden proposal, arms crossed over her chest as she shifted from foot to foot. Finally, she sighed. "...Fine. Something fun and friendshipy, and then...One. Innocent. Date. Just going out, nothing too fancy...okay?" Jack, was she going to regret this? Probably.
...Well, hopefully not.

Lou grinned when she tried to lie about how she wasn't checking him out. Didn't know what it meant? Why, that was the worst lie he'd ever heard.
But he failed to comment on it, being too busy waiting for her final verdict. He knew she'd say no. Lou was sure they'd have to go around in circles like this two more times. Smirking, he opened his mouth after she spoke. "Now Xiu, I think you're being too ra-"
He froze, just about to the end of his sentence. The vampire's mouth hung open as if he was deciding whether he should finish the statement or if he really heard what he thought he just heard.
She'd said yes?
Well, in a roundabout way, she'd most certainly said yes.
Lou's spiral eyes widened like a four year old who had just been presented with the world's largest ice scream cone. The boil took in a deep, unnecessarily loud breath in, and...
Got up for a little victory dance.
"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. SHE SAID YES!" He really hadn't been lying about childlike joy, had he?
"You won't regret it. I'll make sure everything is absolutely amaaaaaaaaaazing." Amazing enough for a kiss on the first date? Farfetched, but the boil always dreamed big.
But... This made him wonder. "So uh... What do I have to do to make this happen?" He wondered just what the baku would have up her sleeve, and how sinister it could possibly be.

...Xiu really, really wasn't sure how to feel about that dance. On one hand, she was admittedly amused to see him so excited. However, on the other hand...
That dance.
The baku settled for trying to keep her expression impassive, though the corner of her lips twitched slightly as she watched him finally settle down. Well...this wouldn't be too bad, right? Though perhaps it would be best if she didn't mention this to Shun or Vaith. It was just a harmless outing, after all.
Perking up at his question, Xiu smiled and folded her arms over her chest, lifting a brow at the boil. "Worried? Give me some time to think, but be assured that it will be full of fun, platonic, friendshippy times."

Well, it was official. Today was a great success, even if he had to step back on an important boundary.
"Mm. Platonic. Yes." Though he wondered if she really had the ability to keep it that way. The little kushi wheel was turning in his head, and Lou was almost sure whatever she planned, he could... 'Improve'.
"I'm not worried. I'm sure whatever it is, we will have one hell of a good time." Finally marching towards the door with a victory swagger, the boil glanced back over his shoulder as his hand graced the doorknob. "Well, you know where to find me when you decide. Don't keep me waiting too long, or else I'll have to come find you." And he wasn't sure if she wanted that.
"Oh, and do enjoy the spookies. I made them myself."

Taking the...er, warning to heart (no, she did not want him to come seek her out, especially if she happened to be Shun at that time), she gave him a meek nod before lifting a hand to wave. "Er...yes! Well, I'll see you around."
At the mention of the spookies, she cast them a vaguely worried look before giving a nod. As she watched the vampire leave, the ghoul let out a sigh and flopped onto her bed, facedown.
