It was a good job that Cosine was quite a patient goddess, she really did not mind all of the questions. In her mind childhood was about questions and learning. It was her job as an adult and a parent to satisfy her childrens curiosity and teach them about the world. "A century is one hundred years. A good lifespan for most mortal creatures."

"Ohhhhh." So that was... quite a long time, then, for mortals ? If that was usually for how long they lived ?
"Are there mortals that live longer than that ?" Mommy had said 'most', after all.

"Some races yes. There are being like Elves who are not immortal as we are but live for a very, very long time. I think it differs depending on species but I am no expert. There are animals that can live a long time too." She shrugged her shoulders. "No doubt you will learn all this as you grow."

Hmm.
Caelia nodded, and her curiosity seemed sated for now. It was unavoidable that she would jump off her perch and look back up to her mother. In fact, that had been an unusually long time for Augury to sit still at all.
"Can we go see the temple now, mommy ?" She tugged her mother's hand lightly. "Maybe we could get Kios to come, too. I think the kitty might be keeping him, but he's too nice for that, right ?"

"Well, this is the temple." Cosine said as she looked around at the construction and half finished buildings. Or will be, we can come back when there is more to it." She was sure Kios would enjoy coming to visit it too. "The kitty? What kitty?" She asked, wondering if she meant one of the aoide.

"I want to go have a closer look." The idea that wandering a buliding in the process of being constructed was not exactly safe was not one that had occured to Augury.
"The kitty !" Not exactly helpful, no. "The kitty Kios stays with. He took me with him last time daddy asked him to stay with me. The kitty's really, really nice. He had me chase him around and he played tricks on the other grown ups." She laughed. "Then he gave me cookies ! The kitty doesn't talk, but he's really nice !"

"It's not very safe Caelia, but you can climb a bit if you like." She would keep a close eye on her.
A kitty that chased around and played tricks on people, well that did not ring any bells ... until her daughter's last words. There was only one she knew who did not communicate verbally. "Taj? You mean Mystery?" Well now, thaat was interesting.

Blah. Caelia pouted a bit, but seemed to decide that it was better than nothing at all. She would lift herself back on top of the wall to try and peek at the inside of the temple.
"I caught them..." She grinned a grin that would have probably made Mystery proud, had she not been ratting him out. "You know..." She rubbed two fingers in a kissing motion, laughing.

Cosine raised an eyebrow at that. She wasn't sure she liked the thought of her daughter snooping in on people and seeing more than her young eyes should. "Oh really, and what were you doing in Mystery's rooms in the first place?"

"Daddy had to go somewhere really quick when you were off with Ky and Isi once." She nodded. "Avalon, I think ? He said Ravenna needed him. He asked Kios to watch me for a little bit. And Kios took me there." She grinned. "Everyone was really nice, and the kitty played with me ! Kios was boring. He was working with this book full of pretty drawings. I think it was to help the kitty out, because he said thank you and kissed him !" And yes, this was very, very amusing to her, as Caelia was giggling all the while.

Her daughter's giggles were infectious. Incredibly infectious. A grin spread across the goddess's lips and she shook her head. "Oh did he now? Well, I might have to pay Kios a visit. He lives with the kitty you say?"

"Hm-n. The closet that isn't a closet. Kios showed me. You open it once and it's a closet." Her eyes were wide with wonderment as she continued to explain, as she did not quite understand how that worked. "But you close it and open it again and you get the kitty's place !"

Cosine nodded. "I have been there, once ... perhaps more than once. It was a long while ago now I really cannot remember. My brother was there, did you see another number god?" She raised an eyebrow. She had not seen or heard anything from or about her brother in what seemed like an eternity. What was more troubling was it did not bother her all that much. Was that terrible of her?

Another number god ? That concept puzzled her. Her mommy was the numbers goddess, wasn't she ? Was there supposed to be another ? She looked at Cosine for a moment, little brows furrowing in thought. "Nuh-uh. There was the kitty and Kios, and I saw Tien too. And Priss. She's my friend, and she makes dolls. We made Kios read us a story." Caelia was so busy recounting that she had seemingly forgotten all about her potentially dangerous exploring. She waved her little arms, quite animated as she talked. "Priss wanted to prank him and gave him a blank book saying there was a story here, but there really was a story ! It was about a princess that got captured by a bad person, but she didn't wait for someone to come for her and got out on her own !"
The fact that her cousin had simply made up the story as he went along had never crossed her mind.

Cosine watched her daughter carefully. She did not believe in wrapping children up in bubble wrap, though did not want to see Caelia hurt, so she would watch her explore and act only if something looked like it would go wrong. "Well now, that princess sounds rather familiar." She smirked. it did not surprise her that Kios would be able to come up with a story so easily. "What happened to the princess in the end?"
