Hyd nodded, agreeing with Pink Lemonade.... until she mentioned him as collateral. "W-w-wait... what... I don't want to stay here!" he said and gave a tiny tiny leap of just his front hooves only. He then blinked at Gloom. "I mean...not that its not pleasant... I..just...want to help save the kitty!" he said and swallowed hard, taking a few steps back to hide behind Pink Lemonade. "We will be super super super super super careful...."

Gloom Heart cringed at the pink filly asserting her 'word' as if that actually meant something to him. His eyes rolled slightly as he deflated, cheek pushed against one hoof. If he had fingers he'd have pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. Instead, he settled for adjusting his glasses and resting both hoofs back on the counter. "I don't trust either of you as far as I can throw you." He had to say, though, using one of the other kids as collateral was fairly ingenious for a young one to come up with. No doubt she would be a shrewd business woman when she grew up. However admirable that trait was, still no dice. Gloom shook his head. "Not happening." Briefly, he glanced away from the counter at all of the boring grannies and obnoxious children strewn about the library, grimacing further. He was already on break, maybe he should actually utilize it to get the heck away from these degenerates. Of course the only other opportunity involved more degenerates. "Look, I'm on lunch. You've got five minutes." With that, the earth stallion ducked behind the counter, exited through a back door, was replaced with another phony, and carried out a folding step ladder draped over his back. "This better be worth it."

Pink Lemonade spread her legs and lifted her head, in a stance that clearly meant business and was just about to tell this librarian fellow exactly what she thought of his decision… when he suddenly changed his mind. There was a rare second in which Pink Lemonade was surprised into silence. The fight went out of her in a sigh, followed by an almost instant recovery and a chipper grin.
“Oh, it will be. Let’s be off!” She turned quickly, leading the way out of the library. “Hydrangea, we’ll just have to forget the blankets and hope for the best.” She didn’t want the gloomy fellow with the ladder to change his mind halfway there. This might be their only shot.
So, Pink Lemonade took them straight back to the tree.
Cirrus, upon seeing them, jumped to his hooves and looked incredibly grateful someone had finally returned. “You’re back! The kitten is still up there. It’s stopped meowing now. Is that good or bad do you think?”
“Hush. The others aren’t back yet?” PL looked somewhat annoyed at that, but she turned to Gloom Heart to begin their part of the plan. “Here is the tree. If you’d be so kind to put the ladder in place.”

The house where TACO lived when he wasn't on the road was right up the block; the lights looked off, but the garage door was wide open. Peeking inside, Boho could see that there was a sock on the door leading into the kitchen. "Aww, looks like he's asleep. But tell you what, I'll talk to him and ask if he'll give you a lesson. Or maybe one of my older half-brothers; they own a club, and I know there's at least a couple of bars in there."
She waved the colt into the garage behind her, and she opened the low cabinet where Puce's stuff was kept. Hairbrushes, toys, flea collars... aha! Catnip! The catnip was in a sealed plastic baggie with a smiling cat on the front. She grabbed the whole bag, then turned around. "Come on; let's go rejoin the others! I bet they've found a ladder by now."
Hyd followed greatfully after as the Librarian pony was ever so kidn as to agree to bring the ladder. "Oh thank you!" he said softly, trotting along after the pair as they made their way back to the tree.
He nodded towards PL as she mentioned forgetting the blankets. He wasn't sure he wanted cat hair on his blanket anyways, so he would indeed hope for the best. He also hoped little Cirrus was still ok.
When they got back, he spotted Cirrus and gave a smile, trotting over to him. "Your ok!" he laughed and then blinked up at the cat in the tree. "I think... thats good maybe... Maybe it got bored? or... its meow is stuck or something." he tilted his head. He wasn't sure. He had a dog, not a cat and Bluebelle was quite the well mannered miss. "We got a ladder though so hopefully we can get it down soon!" he beamed.

The ladder was now in position and she could see Boho and her brother approaching. Hopefully they had the catnip with them. Pink Lemonade gave a grin that was just a little it smug. Of course, they hadn’t rescued the cat yet, but she considered it a forgone conclusion.
“Get ready to climb the ladder, Cirrus.”
The Pegasus looked startled. “Me?”
“Of course. You have to make up for not just flying up there in the first place.”

The pair with the catnip approached the tree. The others had gotten a ladder form somewhere, as well as an adult! Perhaps he'd come with the ladder? Either way, they were almost ready to get that cat down. The little pegasus colt was going to climb the ladder, and then they'd all be heroes! Hooray!
"Here!" Boho shouted at the pegasus. "Take this with you!" She tossed the bag of catnip at him. "That'll calm the kitty down while you get him out of the tree!"

Hyd smiled and danced around on his hooves. "You can do it, Cirrus, I have faith in you!" he nodded, trying to cheer on the little Pegasus colt. He felt good, being able to save a kitty. The poor little thing was quite darling...but he was glad he wasn't the one going up to get it as he it didn't mess up his beautifully brushed mane. "Oh, catnip, nice! Should be down in three shakes of a tail!" he beamed.
Fruit Punch had been just a few steps behind Boho when she approached the small group assembled around the tree, hoping to get that poor still stuck cat out. He took his "place" between the pink filly and the green colt, grining at them both and then his sister and Cirrus with the feeling of accomplishment swelling in his chest. "Come on, Cirrus! The little guy's been waiting long enough! You can do it, 'cause we're all here to cheer you on!" He meant every word, tail flicking happily behind him.

Cirrus caught the bag of catnip Boho tossed his way, holding it firmly in his teeth as he looked around at his fellow rescuers. They all believed he could do it. Well, he wouldn’t let them down. He gave one nod and then moved over to the ladder. Spreading his wings for balance, he began to climb, moving slowly up each rung until he had reached the top. He stretched as far he could go, placing the catnip on a convenient branch and opening the bag.
“Come on kitty; come closer so I can help you. We’re all here to save you.” He called out to the cat. It stared back at him with wide green eyes and meowed. “That’s right, come on.”
A branch at a time it descended until it was crouched just above Cirrus. It wobbled for a bit, tail flicking back and forth… before dropped onto the Phony’s head and clung tight. Cirrus gave a high-pitched shriek and toppled backwards. A quick turn and a stretch of his wings turned his fall into a glide and as he skidded to a stop on the ground, the cat leapt free and raced off with a yowl.
Well, Pink Lemonade thought as she trotted over to check on Cirrus, at least the cat was safe now. “Well done!” Other than a few scratches, he seemed unhurt. She turned to the others with a triumphant grin. “We did it. Everyone is invited back to my place for drinks and candy. Oh do get up Cirrus. I’ll put some ointment on your head when we get home.”
Cirrus sighed. Gliding wasn’t quite flying, right? Well, he had better take extra care for bad fortune in the next few days.
