Calder's ears shot back. "To buy you from Dr. Fell! That's what I've been talking about this entire time! Weren't you listening?! We want you with us forever." He was downright frustrated at this point. All this time he thought Christof was helping him in code and it turned out he had no idea what was going on.
He let out a equine grunt at the ceiling.

"Cannot-ask-you-to-do-that! Not-worth-it!" Christof's hands flew, sending a Scruff-Pup tumbling to the side.

Calder moved in, collecting the puppies and moving them back over to the basket away form both Scruff and Christof. "You ARE worth it! We all think that and we already talked about it. We're not going to let you go, and neither one of us is going to stop, so you either help us or you break all of our hearts. Mine, Barth's, Malodore's, and Amrita's!"

Christof fell sullen, his eyes lowered and stitched lips pursed before he meekly signed one word: "Parts."

Calder petted a puppy as it nuzzled into his warm hand but remained focus on the patchwork. Christof seemed to think about what he was saying, and he wondered if he'd just get upset again that they were trying this hard.
Then, slowly, he signed one thing.
"Parts?" He thought a moment, and remembered the dinner with Dr. Fell. "He wants our parts? Like during dinner that one time?"

Christof just gave a grunt as he busied himself trying to clean up his messy room.

There was the answer, as grim as it was. "Thank you...for telling me."
Silent for a few minutes, Calder looked at the puppies. "Will you let Scruff eat the pups or will you separate them?" He petted a soft, puff pup tenderly.

Christof looked terrified, his hands flailing as he signed, "What-would-I-do-with-puppies??"

"You give them to your friends or raise them all WITHOUT letting Scruff eat them. That's what you do." Calder petted another one. "They are small and wittle. You need to watch over them and make sure they don't get hurt. Keep them in a box until they grow big, I guess. Malodore has a puppy. Why don't you ask him?" He said, looking back up. "I don't do wolves."

Christof's nose remained wrinkled as he picked a squirming thing up by the tail carefully with his extra arm. "More-like-sponge-with-teeth."
He dropped it again and moved to fish out a metal bin he usually kept mechanism Parts in, dumping said parts exasperatedly on the floor before trying to wipe it clean with a bloody cloth.

"Just remember when you were young. You weren't as vicious as you were now. Those little pups will grow up, and if you make sure they are safe and taken care of, they can be trained and be viscous little monsters." Calder pointed out, watching Christof put the effort into actually making a home for the pups. "That means making sure nothing hurts them, that they are kept warm at night, and when they grow bigger, letting them run outside. You'll need more leashes." He said, smiling. He had a bit of hope that if Christof could warm up and take care of puppies, scarlings would naturally follow in his desires.

"When-young, I-was-put-to-work," Christof grunted as he signed before turning back to the bin. He found another cleanish towel, and then rose to start plucking up each squirmy little handful and toss them in before Scruff could get close.
Lurking at the window, Firth was watching, eyeing the mini scruffs and the scruffs with rabbity thoughtfulness.

Well pups aren't as strong as you were made to handle, and well, you never got a chance to have fun or ...well, brother and sisters." He went over, finding a cleanish rag and coming over to hand it to Christof. "I didn't either. They need to grow up, then they can be trained. Right now, they just need care, love, and protection. Only strong people can do that. You have to be their daddy." Not their master. Not their owner. Someone more caring than just ownership.
Calder turned to Firth. "You leave them alone too!" He wagged his finger.
