Ami quirked an eyebrow at a hunter who had cut off the arm of another. She hadn't heard anything about it, but then, it was hard to hear gossip when you spent most of your day in a lab or out doing missions, alone. It seemed very odd that they would keep around such a dangerous hunter, but then, division leaders always had their games to play.
She said nothing in response to Kat's negativity about her life, considering that Ami herself had no positive note to add. She only nodded, then followed Kat's hand out the door, the other two in tow.
"You call her sunbeam?" Ami asked Lex inquisitively. It seemed rather ... friendly. Even though Kat had already assured her they weren't dating, Ami was still curious. Just how close were these two?

Lex just shook his head at Kat, pursing his lips a little. They weren't wrong - he was sure that Allan would at least put up a fight against Caelius; and Allan would more than likely win. That man was raw and pure power, more than enough to take down a sneaky Death leader. He kept silent like Ami, though. Kat was stubborn - and until proven wrong, she would continue to think the worst.
"Yeah, just a little nickname. When she's not, well... like this, she's a bright little light." He smiled, giving Ami a sidelong look. He knew she would resent him for it, but he had to say "Like how I call you turtle."

The fact that she had to be escorted back in case of anything happening, was enough to make her want to talk to one of the division leads. She wouldn't be able to keep living like this for long, not without going bat s**t insane. Maybe she should just get it over with, and go straight to Caelius. Even if Allan would vouch for her, Caelius was more or less the one who was pretty much running the place, and hiding from him like this was kind of pitiful. If something went wrong, she could always say 'I told you do'
At the mention on the nickname, Kat said nothing, but smiled when overhearing Ami's. Following behind the two, she glanced back and forth between them. Oh, there was definitely something going on here.
"Uhhh, you know, I can go on ahead, and give you guys some time alone if you'd like?" Its not like she couldn't manage by herself.

Ami's happier expression dropped almost immediately at the nickname. Damn you Lex. Damn you. She didn't even grace it with a response. She wanted that branch of conversation to die off, and die off quickly.
Kat earned an eyeroll. "My dear if I didn't know better it might sound like you were trying to set us up. Or perhaps you don't like my company?" A coy smile on her face, she turned to Lex and said, "Do you hear that? My lovely Katherine doesn't want my company."
They arrived at Ami's dorm and she dug her keys out from her coat pockets. A push from the door with her foot, and the door was open. "Excuse the mess," she said curtly.
That was to say, a mess that didn't exist. Ami was a bit of a neat freak when it came to her bedroom.

Lex snorted at both of the women, shaking his head in amusement. No, they really didn't need time alone. Why would Kat even insinuate that? He and she had just don their thing a few nights ago. Did Kat take him for the cheating type? He would certainly hope not - his mother cheated on his father, he had resolved long ago to not do the same. It's why he didn't date - there were no feelings if you weren't attached.
"Oh, how very tragic. What actions could have brought forth such a miserable plight?" He teased, using a highly exaggerated old English voice that'd he'd picked up from watching a few movies.
Once at the dorm, Lex let the other two in before entering. "Mess? Mess of what, the air?"

Pursing her lips, she watched the two, unconvinced. Maybe she was crazy for thinking there was something between them? But she couldn't shake the idea. "Ami, if I didn't like your company, I wouldn't be moving in with you. Er, not that you weren't good company either, Lex." Yeah, that didn't sound too good either, considering everything. Best she just bite her tongue, and shut up about it all. If there was anything between Ami and Lex, maybe she could pry the information out of Ami later.
Giving Ami a suspicious look, she glanced about the room, as if waiting for the supposed 'mess' mentioned, to leap out and attack her. "Well, if this is messy, don't go back to my room, you might go into shock." Then again, it was likely that they had cleaned, boxed, and possibly burned her stuff anyways. Her mess was probably long gone.

There was a slight cringe at Lex's fake English accent. It was horrible. Nothing like sweet Gale's.
Ami blinked a few times as they entered the room, genuinely confused. She thought her room in a bit of a messy state at the moment- there were a few cardigans strewn over her chairs, and makeup dotted along her desk, completely out of their boxes.
"Duly noted," she said to Kat. She liked her rooms clean.
She put a hand on her chin and surveyed the room. "You can take my bed. I'll talk to Tori about where she got that cot when I stayed over." She looked at Lex and said, "Were you here for the cleanup? Insanity monsters made a nasty rampage through the dorms, sinking their claws into everything. My room was filled to the brim with water- how they got it in here, I don't know."

Lex rolled his eyes at the Gryphon, not bothering with him right now. All he had done was repress a chuckle at Kat, because she certainly enjoyed his company that first night. Honestly, Regal, that was a funny one.
He perked when Ami talked about some sort of Insanity incident. Flooding and sharing rooms? Rampant Insanity monsters? How...
"No, I was still sleeping during that time." He frowned a little, casting a few glances around the room. "So...how did Insanity monsters invade? Isn't the island supposed to be our haven?"

Smiling sheepishly, she made a mental note not to make too much of a mess while staying with Ami. If she considered her room to be messy as it was, then she would need to keep her stuff in order.
"What? I can't take your bed, Ami. I'm fine with sleeping on a cot, or even the floor. Seriously." It was bad enough that Lex had already given up his bed for her to sleep on, she couldn't do it to Ami as well. Besides, all those giant cat plush toys that Wilson had given her for Christmas would make a fine, and comfortable bed.
At the mention of insanity monsters, she recalled her room having all those holes when she had awoken from the pods a second time. She hadn't heard the whole story on how they had got there, but she had seen the mess they had left behind. Ugh.. all those bugs crawling through her room.. she did not miss that..

Ami rolled her eyes at Kat. She should've expected the girl to complain and dissent about the arrangements. Kat was far too nice to just accept Ami's kindness, in the same way that Ami was too stubborn to do the same.
"Fine." There was no arguing the point. Turning to Lex, she said, "After we ... decimated the horsemen island, the ... mana- the life force if you will, of the dead spirits was pushed through our portal onto the island. It took ages to clean up."
She rolled her hand, pushing the subject away. "Sort of a dreary subject for Christmas, don't you think? Shouldn't we ... I don't know, do something festive?" Ironic as the person who suggested Christmas spirit had absolutely no emotion on her face.

A raised eyebrow was elicited from Ami's response, though he told himself he really shouldn't be surprised at all. He was glad to have missed something like that, but there was no doubt in his mind that something equally as awful would more than likely happen to them. Nothing really came easy when dealing with the paranormal, it would seem.
His smile grew a little bigger when Ami, Ice Queen Ami, mentioned being festive. He nearly laughed, but that would upset the reserved girl. Instead, he decided to suggest, "Well, we could see about getting some old Christmas movies and watch those, like we did for Thanksgiving? Or we could swap stories about how Christmas went at our houses; or make gingerbread. I'm game for anything festive."
Plus, he'd be with two pretty girls - even if one of them was still awkward with him around.

With that settled, Kat moved on to setting her stuff down, away from where anyone would trip and fall over it.
The description Ami gave of the attack was much like what Reine had explained to her when she had awoken from the pods again. She had seen the damage left behind, and some of the creatures that had remained, but it was still surprising to hear how it all happened. Not that it mattered anymore. It was something of the past.
"Well, that was the plan." She added, claiming a spot on the floor, staring up at the two with a small grin. She couldn't not pull her from the life labs and not do anything festive for Christmas, after all.
"I don't see why we can't do all of that." Though, if they had to pick one, she definitely had a vote on the gingerbread house making.

A gingerbread house was procured, and sat idly on Ami's desk. Most likely it would be devoured later, but Ami insisted that it sit there as a monument of their hard work for at least a few days. Then they'd go to town on it.
The day ended with watching cheesy Christmas movies, all of which Ami was open to except Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, for reasons she wouldn't explain to either. Somewhere in between Frosty the Snowman and Elf, Kat fell asleep on Ami's shoulder, so Ami looked at Lex and put a finger up to her mouth, pointing at Kat. The two of them managed to tuck Kat in without waking her up, and Ami shooed Lex towards the door.
Once at the door frame, she whispered, "Today was fun. Thank you for helping with Kat's things."

It had been a fun day, in all actuality. Lex took solace in the fact that, even though things got hectic and sometimes awkward (Kat), he could still enjoy Christmas with people he considered close to him. Making gingerbread was the highlight for him, the three of them decorating the house as a team effort. The girls would enjoy chowing down on it.
"My pleasure, merry Christmas." He whispered, giving Ami a quick grin and a wink before heading back to his own dorm and enjoy the rest of his evening with a cup of coffee and the rest of that mini Kaluha bottle he'd bought while in New York.
