(( Tesla & Nolan -- Entrance ))

One moment he was apologizing for bumping into someone else, and the next, he was practically folded in half with the sudden leaping weight that was all too familiar to him. Even so, Nolan was unprepared, and as Aric jumped on him, he stumbled forward - narrowly missing Fintan again - doing a sort of one-footed jig until he caught his balance. He remained half-bent over with the other child on his back, his hidden tail lifting subtly to help keep the desert boy from falling.

"There you are," he murmured, easily lost in the crowd, though he was sure the blonde was used to his quiet way of speaking by now. Holding Aric's legs at his sides, he stood up a little more, looking quietly from Fintan's face to -- "...Ziya?" He didn't bother to hide the quizzical sound in his voice. The teen that he'd met so long ago, once comfortable in his own skin and full of warmth, seemed to be...tapped out. It was like all his electricity was spent, the tall blonde seeming to almost be hidden behind an eyepatch. Weary, he bowed his head politely to the elder Dust. "It's good to see you." There was an earnest lilt in his voice, as though by the way Ziya looked, it was possible the teen had barely gotten away with his life in whatever took his eye.

But Fintan pulled his attention again, making him feel like running into him might not have been an accident after all. He felt a strangely competitive streak in him to see the boy, though he had no idea why. "You look about as willing to be here as I do," he commented idly to the phoenix, a vague smile curving his lips. Was he more of a kindred spirit, he wondered...?

And just as quickly, some sort of boy with wings - an angel? - quipped into their conversation. Nolan blinked at the boy before grinning suddenly, all wolfish teeth without care of who saw. "I like the way you think," he said by way of acknowledgement, readjusting Aric on his back. Now surrounded by half of those he knew and half he did not, he rectified the situation. "Name's Nolan, and the stowaway is Aric." He jutted his chin towards his shoulder, patting the legs he still held.

Tesla, for the most part, just looked a little pale. She didn't know which were like her boy (other than the winged child, of course), but the air was so thick with their presence that it made her feel a little overwhelmed. Tracing her fingers over her cloak and pulling it more tightly around her shoulders, the fur partially hiding her face, she simply observed, not yet comfortable to leave them be, and not feeling safe enough to draw attention to herself. She cast a brief glance around for Elias and - instead meeting the intense blue eyes or a rather large man - offered him a quick smile before lowering her gaze again. The irony of the tables being turned was not lost on her.

He was more than elated when the dragon child supported him on his back, wrapping his arms firmly around the red-heads shoulders and laughing. "There's so many people I'm glad I got to you." he said more quietly, against the dragon's ear before he moved his head up to meet Ziya's greeting. "You-- yes--Z---Za-- Ziya! Good to see you!" it took a while for him to remember the name, but very much proud when he recalled, though his expression softened a little when he saw the eyepatch, tilting his head to the side, "Ziya what's wrong with your---" and then he was cut off when Fintan said hello, and then another approached them-- another that stole his attention away for that moment.

"Good day!" he repeated in respectable greeting to the white-haired child, not even noticing the guardian behind him, not as interested as he was with the sensations the people around him felt like. Yes, I am Aric. Nice to meet you all! Are you all here to play? He asked them all, pumped to look over to each of the stalls and see what was going on, the energy of the crowd making him want to run all over the place. Yet for now, on the back of his friend, he was content, chuckling whenever Nolan adjusted himself on his back.

And poor Elias was still looking around the crowds to find Aric, a little pale at where he could be by now. "Aric ---" --then he had a sigh of relief when he saw the red-headed woman, so very relieved to see her. Assuming Aric was nearby because whenever the dragon-child was involved, the blonde was there to stir up trouble with him.

((Ziya & Fintan ~ Entrance))

The lightening teen couldn't help but flinch a little at the tone and look he had gotten from the dragon. He was well aware how poor he looked, the healing process ending up being terribly slow. Gaining back his depth perception was taking even longer. Bowing his head in return to Nolan, the lightening dust spared him a weary smile. "Its good to see you too.... keeping out of trouble?" He asked softly, before turning his attentions to Aric.
The teens stomach plummeted when the child started to ask what had happened and he was never so grateful to have Fintan with him to draw the attention away. Shifting back a little, the teen allowed the children to more group together though sticking close behind Fintan to mind him and his manners.

Fintan looked to the dragon and smirked a little, itching his cheek slightly. Perhaps this one wasn't so annoying as the others. "Oh I was over the moon when I heard I was coming here" The bird snarked, "I have much better things to be doing but I came for Ziya..... I'm Fintan his brother by the way"

Looking to the fellow bird, he frowned at the wings and eyed him with only a vague interest. A lesser bird by his own standards as compared to himself but a sort of kin never the less. "Why is everyone so keen on using good day?" he huffed, "Afternoon....." he used as greetings instead.

(( Tesla & Nolan -- Entrance ))

"Never," he answered Ziya's question with a faint smile that indicated he wasn't trying to be funny. Distantly, he wondered if Krinn would show up, given what they went through last time they saw each other...well. He'd just have to look around and see. It's not like the storm-haired teen was hard to miss, even in a bustling crowd. He did, however, note Ziya's almost cringe when he and Aric cued in on the eye patch, the likes of which made his smile slip a little. He wondered what could have happened to make the polite Dust so serious and withdrawn...?

But Fintan's rebuttal made the dragon chuckle under his breath, the sound little more than a guttural whuffle. "I'm in the same boat," he admitted to the fiery child, "but it's not so bad." Looking over his shoulder, he smiled a little more to Aric, eyes lidding comfortably at the words the desert child shared with him. "Me too." Cocking his head to the side, he looked at the gathered - the 'angel' included - and asked of them all, "So are we going to drag our feet or actually look around?" Nolan would have been just as fine to sit on the fountain all day until they had to go, but if the group wanted to look around, he'd be content with his motley clan for the day.

(( SORRY FOR THE POST, my meds are knocking me out faster than I anticipated -- I'LL REPLY TO EVERYONE WHEN I GET UP and we'll take it slow from there since I'll generally be MIA during the days!

I'll also delete this when forums open up again, but Eni -- I'd be happy to have Ziya and Nolan meet again! We'll have to think of something at the end of the event, though I'm sure we'll have a good idea... >J

Also keii, if you do post, you'll still get full credit for the day since Gaia's forum thing kinda threw us all off. ))

( Elias & Aric - Entrance)

"Trouble," he laughed softly at that, more of the fact that Elias had told him time and time again that he always was into some kind of trouble by himself or with the dragon child. And he liked it that way. And he wasn't that ignorant to notice the change of mood and attitude of the older lightening dust, but he kept quiet for now, following Nolan's cue. But hoping that Ziya would give him a genuine smile sooner or later, he liked how bright the dust's smile was.

He pouted at Fintan's reply to the festival. How can anyone not be excited for it? Although in a way, he did know Nolan's attitude towards things like this --- well, he just had to make it fun for them all! "It's gonna be fun," he encouraged both Fintan and Nolan, giving the red-head a half-pout before smiling at the response to his words. He still had his legs and arms wrapped around Nolan, content and finding this position rather fun to be in, and he couldn't help his smile again despite the slightly heavy atmosphere.

"White bird, are you coming with us too?" he said quickly before he nudged his scaled friend to move forward, actually wanting to go somewhere and start exploring! He had new friends --friends that were not unlike him too! And that was a perfect start.

( Krinn - Entrance. )

There was an inhale, an exhale, a soft slow curl of breath.

The sky rumbled above, a plaintive and listless response. Faint white clouds trailed through it like ghosts, though none of them spoke subtly of rain. The dust sighed, leaned forward on his elbows and examining his hands instead. The soft white skin was scarred now; a web of angry red lines welted his wrists, burning gently whenever he flexed them too much. It wasn't exactly accompanied by a fond memory either, and Krinn dropped his examination as quickly as he'd picked it up, sliding off of the bench and back into the crowd. It was funny; he'd come here with at least a pack of five others his age, though now they'd all but been pulled away by the fresh flow of festivities all around. If the dust looked hard enough, he could spot blond curls in one area, and short spiky hair in another.

He imagined he could find them again if he really wanted. He was no stranger to navigating crowds and foreign places. But the thought disturbed him; he was content to be alone, and be ignored. There was no weight resting on his shoulders for a performance well done. Nothing to tie him down and hold him firmly in place. The rain twisted fluently into the crowd and let it take him where it pleased. The scent of hot caramel and spiced cider peppered the air around him, but his stomach did not stir in the least, as though a cold hard lump had settled there instead, filling him always with a fullness that was not pleasant, save for the weeks where it refused to rain for so, so long.

A mild commotion drew the dust's attention away from his wandering to a thick knot of people. Some of them were tall - adults like Caelan, and others children. But maybe it wasn't so much their tight bundle that attracted his gaze as much as it was the gentle stirring in his gut like warm liquid filling his veins. He wasn't aware how close he was until he recognized Tessa and nearly dove back into the crowd. The others he could just as easily identify; Nolan, the dragon child, Ziya and Fintan, and Venice, with whom his meeting had been short-lived and ultimately one sided so far as name-giving and proper conversation went. The boy with warm colors was a foreigner to him though, and he stayed at the edge of the group, far enough away that no one would notice them unless they looked, neither comfortable enough to say anything nor distraught enough to disappear. Yet.

( Venice & Wren - Entrance. )

Venice watched the interactions with mild intrigue, his wings stretching out almost subconsciously. He felt rather safe with this crowd, though Wren flinched when the wings nearly unfurled entirely before fluttering and curling back in. The prince laughed at that, and he could almost feel the huntsman's hatred of his keen observatory skills from behind. Shifting himself into a comfortable position as Nolan spoke to - Ziya? - the swan dust ran an absent finger through his wingtip; the human equivalent of preening it seemed. "Yes, I would like to think that as well." He responded when Nolan turned his attention to him.

His gaze was without a doubt intense, though not the severity of Wren's, and lacking in the socially awkward nature that the other man seemed so keen to exhibit. His stance was regal without being pompous, elegant without too much haughty pride. "It's a pleasure." He returned, sliding into a smooth bow from the shoulders. "I am Venice." His gaze drifted to the others; his skin seemed to spark and shiver when his gaze landed on Ziya, as though the essence itself was enough to unnerve him. He placated his features with smooth elegance though, schooling himself into neutrality once more, though his hands fidgeted against the white plume of wings.

The golden boy was loud. Aric, his name was? Venice watched as he conversed, talking about playing as though it was something fun to do. Then again, Venice wasn't an average child prone to that sort of thing, and his mind instantly discarded it as childish without quite realizing that he himself was only so old. "I... didn't necessarily realize that there was playing to be done here." He returned after a moment, his brow furrowing at the thought. It was almost as though Aric had asked him to dive off of the nearest cliff and wrestle a shark for fun. After all, Venice's fascination and pastimes lay in reading, writing, the languages, and the concept of humankind and its histories. Wren had nearly gone mad trying to figure out was so wrong with him when Venice could see no fault.

"It's a conventional expression of greeting or farewell,"
Venice responded automatically to Fintan, as though he'd swallowed a dictionary and words were now pouring out. "It is simply a generalization of good morning or good afternoon." His eyes flickered to the crowd and back to Fintan. "But if you insist, we could use different phrases to greet one another. Good afternoon." The bird folded his wings quickly, staring at the other without wavering. "Who are you?"

Venice glanced up when they mentioned exploring, fluffing his wings in bemusement at the nickname Aric had seemingly just given to him. "I do not see why I would not." He retorted dryly, his eyes flickering to their strange assortment of dust children before stepping forward and keeping pace with the dragon, the phoenix, and the sand.

(( Ziya & Fintan ~ Entrance))

Ziya hummed softly at the dragons reply, smiling a little as he nodded in response. As a child getting into trouble was a given, he got into his own fair shares of trouble. However now trouble was complicated and not always so much fun. The lightening teen was quite surprised to see Fintan not being as obnoxious as he normally was but the day was still very early.

The sound of Nolans chuckle made a slight grin reach the fire birds lips as he sucked in a cold breath. "Having a comrade in this may make the dare bearable..." Fintan remarked, relaxing his narrow shoulders slightly. Looking at Aric, he snorted a little at the sheer excitement that seems to just radiate off of him. Taking the time to look at the pair, he could tell not just from the body language between them how close they really were. It was fascinating really, to have so much trust in a person. It reminded the fire bird he didn't have someone like that but then he remembered he really didn't need someone like that. He'd never had one so why should he need one? Acquaintances suited him just fine. "If we must.... best to get some looking around done..."

The phoenix looked back to the swan and arched a sardonic eyebrow and rolled his golden eyes a little. It was like having one of his texts read out loud, honestly. "There are many variations of greets.. some more familiar then others... I just get tired of parroting each other... makes for dull conversation" He replied, wondering if his mood towards the other was one of irritation because they were both birds? Well he was petty with people for lesser things.

(( Edit: yay okay Chrys :3

I wont be on much myself either.... I work almost right to Christmas... so I'll pop on after work but kept read up while at work :3

I should head to bed now though, night

(Magnolia - Drink Stall)

Magnolia felt eager, a strained smile following Eli's question, hands coming up and ready to pounce onto the conversation at his next breath. She had manners, she knew to wait her turn in conversation but sometimes it was damn near impossible. Her mind only works at a certain speed and she knew if she were to remain quiet for much longer, it'd simply hop onto a different topic all together. She gave Odell an apologetic smile, although not knowing why.

"You see it is just that different materials move differently. Stings of gold while delicate and beautiful would never maintain rigidity and won't vibrate as pleasantly under your resined bow of horse hair, " She paused taking a breath, mentally chiding herself as she was carried away again.

"So... My question is of the material of your strings for purely dynamic reasons. I understand if you'd like to keep it a secret," Magnolia smiles coyly, one shoulder coming up as a defensive measure but her father always called it 'acting cute'. She clasps her hands together.

Magnolia is distracted once more, the man by her side she turns slightly to hip, lips pressing together in anticipation. A question of he- oh... easy. She gave a relieved grin, entire body relaxing as her fingers move to touch her brooch.

"Ah, I am Magnolia Kaufman... A simple academic I fear, " She gave her own smile back but otherwise appears to be rather nonplussed about Eli's 'practiced smile', probably because she barely recognized the charm he was adding.

(( Tesla -- Entrance to Drinks // Nolan -- Entrance to Ornamental Stalls ))

Like a trusty steed and seeming entirely unaware of the fact, Nolan turned with Aric's urging, glancing to his side as Venice joined them and idly meandering in the general direction of where the ornaments and gifts were. It seemed to be the least populated just yet, as the drink and food area was fairly swarming with hungry humans. "I'm going, I'm going," he chuckled to his friend, his tail again lifting beneath the jacket before settling in its hidden position again. It was hard for him to keep his concentration on his guise while in good company.

"Venice -- " what an odd name, he thought to himself, but it suits him, " -- Anything special you want to see first?" Since Fintan and himself were literally just there to soothe the pesky insistence of someone else, the dragon didn't really mind which direction they went first, as long as it wasn't towards the overly crowded areas. To that, he would balk, and tell them he'd meet up with them again later, if it came to it. "Con-versing is hard enough," he chipped in his two cents, "and then there's these damn manners things that just make everything a bore." He was fully aware he might be ruffling a certain angel-swan's feathers, but he didn't really care. He hated being polite. It was worse than lying. Glancing over his shoulder to make sure they hadn't lost Ziya, he continued on with his clan, quite content.

" -- !" Tesla's fingers stretched towards the retreating form of the dragon and his comrades, but she knew there wasn't much she could do. She remembered Nolan mentioning a 'Ziya' before, and since he was older than the rest, he was as good of a chaperon as any. The red-head didn't like leaving her ward to the ways of another, but...it couldn't hurt. This once. Right?

Pulling her cloak more so about her shoulders, she sighed softly, casting another brief glance to Wren before following the flow of incoming people and veering off towards the drinks, having missed Elias completely. She supposed she'd warm herself with something to drink, and then...maybe buy a gift or two before she'd find her scaly companion.

( Elias - in between drinks & entrance, Aric - Headed to ornament stalls )

He was all but content to be riding on Nolan's back this way, in good spirits and in better spirits with new people--although they seemed quite uncomfortable? Aric wondered why it was so, because who would dislike this place?

And even if the white bird, Venice seemed to be so much the opposite of himself, he did not even mind the overly polite and blunt child, smiling at the boy before Nolan started to turn with him. "There's always fun to be found anywhere," he let out an amused sound. "Especially with good company." His bright blues glanced back over to the dragon with a smile.

The blonde understood the manners-etiquette thing all to well, chuckling and nodding his head. He agreed with Fintan and Nolan on this. "Learning manners is hard-- I dont understand why you have to say the same thing over and over--even if you don't want to!" he lamented this fact, although his guardian did his bed to teach him about these things and especially one thing he absolutely failed at, which was to give others some personal space. The boy was touchy, it was no secret even now. "Let's go then?" He managed to say when Nolan turned, looking over to the two pretty birds and Ziya, watching all of them with the utmost attention.

And with all this, Elias was watching quietly, still not quite as close as he had liked but it seemed-- this newfound group of Aric was moving forward and since Tesla seemed to leave Nolan be --- he trusted that judgement, Aric needed to spend time normally with others after all. But this left him at a loss of what to do, not finding anything of this festival fun so far. He sighed, moving over to the refreshments stand to see if he could catch a break there.

"My pleasure, Miss Kaufman. May I call you Magnolia?" he replied. She smiled artlessly, with simple pleasure. It was warming; there was no artifice about her, for now at least. Standing in a semicircle with Odell and Magnolia, Eli shivered as the chill air ghosted over him. Perhaps it would truly snow soon, he mused. Faleen was often frigid, but Eli had always preferred the more temperate climate of Helena.

As he shivered yet again, Eli realized he'd forgotten to buy anything hot to warm him. Mainly because he'd been so starry-eyed over Odell, he admitted guiltily. But really, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Still... he bowed out of the circle gracefully, promising to be back soon. He needed that hot drink now. His mind was already whirling with choices: coffee, cider, cider with a little something extra?

Eli turned, walking backwards a bit awkwardly, to conduct a poll. "Miss Magnolia, Mr. Barnes believes hot cider to be the most superior drink offered. What do you think?" He smiled. But, once again, Eli had made a bad, absentminded decision whilst walking. He turned around just in time to avoid crashing into a harried-looking red-haired woman [[Tesla]]. Teetering, Eli attempted to regain his balance by hopping rather comically. He regained it, but at the cost of a few others lingering near the stall. It was only sheer luck that Eli had neither knocked anyone or their drinks down entirely.

"Well, that was rather embarrassing. Sorry," he colored a bit as he apologized. Really, he was acting like a teenager with new 'cool' friends. Really, Eli, cool it.
PostPosted: Thu Dec 20, 2012 2:21 pm

Magnolia thought on the matter, bearing the merits of being addressed on the first name basis. Her father would stamp his foot at the thought of her being so casual with a near stranger. The tottered her head the other direction and thought to herself 'does it really matter?' ... Doubtful. The internal battle in her head was won in the matter of seconds. Just long enough to be noticed and concluded with a tiny shrug in her shoulders.

"Honestly you could call me Jameson and I would not mind," curt smile, coy toy and smirk bright upon her lips, "However I will respond to 'Magnolia', years of conditioning and all that."

She waved a hand, pinky wiping a drip of coffee from the corner of her lips and watches Eli closely. Seeing his trek towards the stand and once again considering the merits of his drink selection. What a pitiful question... as if it involved her at all. Again she did not care but it was only polite to concede to his public question. She looked over the menu quickly and once again lifted her shoulders.

"Does the beverage of choice matter once you've added enough spirits to the concoction. I'm more one for coffee as the cider is more acidic and sometimes burns my lips... The choice is yours, Maestro,"

She turned quickly to Odell giving him a small curtsey with the promise of returning because the material of his violin strings did interest her. Fair warning, dear fellow, her brain is flighty and easily distracted. It is a gamble whether or not she will return for her answer. You may receive a call mid week re-asking her paramount question....

She took a step towards Eli pausing only when she saw his course resulting in collision and decided to smile and watch the interaction happen. False to her pre-emptive guess- he did not crash into the red headed woman [Tesla], however the near miss did seem very impractical to walking in a linear path-- and she did give a misplaced but very lady-like giggle... more of an unladylike chortle but don't tell her father.

"Are you alright, dear? It seems Mr. Haddock is quite new to his land-legs~" She called out.

((Odell - drinks))

Odell was still a little surprised at the sudden presence of someone outside the music community who knew him by name. As such he was a bit speechless when asked about the type of string he used for his violin. Some violinists used very thin metal as it lasted longer and had a sharper sound. But Odell was something of a purist, only using catgut from a well known shipper of the product. He was as loving to his instrument as he was his daughter; except his instrument didn't require pretty new dresses.

He was about to respond when Eli seemed to catch a chill and head for the drink stall. It was only polite to wait for the man as he seemed so eager for an answer. Then he turned to Ms. Jameson at her responce to the drink. "Ah I only prefer it due to my daughter's preference of overly sweet things."

He would have continued however Eli seemed to nearly have a tumble with another festival goer. That could have been rather disasterous. He approached them both, "Are you both quite alright?"

[[ Eli - Drinks ]]

Eli stood about, quite embarrassed. Made an a** of himself again. "I'm quite alright. Merely, a, hrmmm," he paused, in reality he had just been oblivious. "a slip of the feet. I'm terribly sorry everyone. Please enjoy a drink on me from this stall." It was the least he could do, really. By some miracle, he had managed to keep hold of his wallet. Opening, he paid the stall-keep enough for about ten drinks. That should do it.

Putting his wallet away, he glanced down and noticed his scuffed shoes. Must have happened when he was kicking pebbles. Eli really should take better care of his garments, he was always wearing them through or burning a hole in one sleeve or the other. A lot had just happened and Eli's brain just didn't work as quickly when not around numbers. He just stood there, a little dumbfounded, sipping his recently acquired cider. Cider with just a spike of something that made a warm ball in his belly.

(Magnolia - Drinks)

Magnolia gave a knowing look to Eli before turning back towards Odell, finishing the last of her coffee and regarding him with a critical eye. She took in the way he held himself and the manners of his face- a lot to be told of a man by the way they held himself. Or so she was told. She had no idea what signs she was looking for or what they meant. She turned back to Eli and gave a smile, trying to act her best to receive a pretty cup.

"I wouldn't say no to a mulled wine~," She called, moving to take a seat next to Odell.

"You have a daughter then?" She asks turning her attention to Odell.
