His statement about "our children" caught her rather offguard, at least until he explained himself, and she bobbed her head shyly in agreement. "Mmm..." Maybe it was just because he was really just the first male kirin she'd really met, but he looked nice to her...? But now was definitely not the time to be thinking about what color the eggs would be, nope. "I guess you and your brother are the same as Keela and I, then." She paused before adding hesitantly, "...I have to wonder if it was something our mothers chose or if something might have happened to them." It was very possible the latter accounted for some of it.

Kenjiro gave pause at her last statement. "I... never really thought of that." That certainly put a rather bleak spin on their 'abandonment', didn't it. Had they really instead had a mother who'd died alone, trying to keep them safe? ... This was really uncomfortable to consider. "I suppose that's another reason to live in a group right there." Of course, he had the feeling that his dreams might be plagued by some rather haunting images tonight...

Pelielle nodded again, a little more solemnly this time. "Exactly." At least in a group, if something were to happen to an individual, the rest of the herd would hopefully still take care of your eggs or children? But it was hard to miss the effect her words had on the stallion, who seemed quite sad. She wanted to cheer him up, but she wasn't quite sure how to... "Ah, sorry to bring up ill thoughts. I promise I'm not usually this depressing to talk to." Maybe Keela's morbid humor was rubbing off on her.

He shook his head at her apology. "It's alright; it's a legitimate concern." Just one that he had failed to think of before. ... Would his brother be returning back anytime soon?

What to do, what to do... Before she knew it, she found herself blurting out, "We can talk about something nicer instead? What's your favorite place you've seen so far with your brother?" She wasn't worrying about Keela (or Escalus); Keela always came back and surely Escalus would be able to find her...

Kenjiro very much welcomed the subject change. "Favorite place? Hm.... Well, we found some cliffs once with a really nice view. The horizon was very colorful when sunset came." Pinks and oranges and purples... The whole scene had been quite a sight from up there.

"That sounds really lovely~" And it did. She enjoyed things like watching sunsets, though she hadn't really stopped to do so in awhile. "When I was growing up, my favorite place was a creek with a spring and little connected waterfalls. It was so pretty when the spray made little rainbows~"

"That sounds wonderful." Truly, it did. "Do you still know where that is?" He wouldn't mind going to see a place like that with his brother sometime. Besides, water was rather peaceful...

She paused, to think over her travels with Keela a bit. Could she find her way back...? "I think I could probably find it again if I got close to where I used to be. I know the general direction." And she hadn't been away that long, the big landmarks shouldn't have changed.

"Nice. We might have to look for that ourselves someday." though he supposed it'd be easier to find with her directions. ... Actually... Should he? Well, if his brother was going to be obsessing over that raven-mare anyway what was the harm in inviting some more pleasurable company to stay around? "I suppose this might be a bit out of the blue, but do you think you might like to travel with us for a bit? Till you can find a proper herd? We'd be a bit more Kirin than just two..." And six eyes and ears were definitely better than four.

The mare's ears perked up, and she was quick to agree with the offer she'd sort of hoped would be coming. "That would be wonderful~ Um, if your brother doesn't mind." She wasn't quite sure if Kenjiro spoke for both of them. "I know Keela doesn't like company very much, so it would probably just be me..." Not that he'd invited Keela along, but she might as well make it clear what she thinks the 'score' is...

The stallion nodded in understanding. "I don't think my brother would have a problem with it, but we can certainly ask once they're back." Assuming his brother even found the other that was. As for how long he'd keep 'looking' he couldn't really say.

Kenjiro gave a light shrug in reply. "Not much, really. Just enjoying the forest." It certainly had an abundance of lush vegetation to choose from. The only really issue was the easy hiding spots for predators. "Have you two been in this area for a while?"

"It is nice around here..." Keela had been forced to go out quite far to find things to hunt, which was nice in that it was relatively 'safe' so far. Didn't do very much good for Keela's mood though. "This forest? Yes. It's quite large, so it's been several days at least..."
