14 + 1 = 15 Success
Both hands gripping the branch that Kana had just jumped towards, the small girl pulled herself up over the branch high enough to tuck her foot to her chest and use the strength in her legs to right herself. While she wasn’t making near the progress her teammate Shin was, Kana was still making forward progress and it was for that she was thankful. Yes, the very beginning had been difficult for her, but it only took a few successes for her to regain the little tidbit of confidence that she had allowed to falter.
Now that she was higher up in the tree, the blonde haired girl no longer had to stand on her toes or jump to reach the next branch. Instead, the foliage was thickening and the branches were becoming smaller, which was working in the girl’s favor. However, she still moved methodically and somewhat cautiously as she made her way up.
There was a gentle round of pops and cracks resounding above her, causing Kana to look up and locate Shin far above her. He had covered almost twice the distance she had in the same amount of time. While the girl did love competition, she was also proud of her teammate for her accomplishments. After all, there was no reason to harbor ill will or harsh feelings towards the people that would someday work alongside her.
A gloved hand rose over her eyes as there was a slight spray of debris from the broken branches that finally reached her in order to protect her eyes. She could pull on the goggles that rested on her forehead, but then that might obscure her visibility a little too much with the lacking sunlight. Yes, they were quite useful, but she also knew that they needed more light than normal in order to be of true assistance.
With a few more tugs and some careful balancing the young medic found that she was making some considerable gains up the tree as she moved within a more conducive space. Now, she was able to start swinging a little bit, allowing momentum to help carry her up the levels of branches and towards their unintended teacher.
While I may not catch up to Shin, at least I’m making some progress. It’s much better than I was doing before.
There was a gentle exhale of air as the girl straightened her arms to lift herself over another branch. Yes, this would do quite nicely, even if the ground between her and Shin was too much to make up.

Sorry this took me so long. Things have been a little crazy, but I will try to make my posts more consistent instead of rolling and then just leaving it.
