"Hey Jake, pay attention. Rep's gonna show ya how a Sun works." That was sort of like saying Ofelia wasn't much of a Sun (she totally ignored that she insulted herself, oops) and she went on to try and protect Rep again. His attack was gonna hurt either the enemy or himself depending on what happened so it was up to her to try and help.

She still really sucked at defending though, but at least Rue was more than ready to play when her turn came around. The runes on her weapon were glowing brightly, painfully, and the sound of singing flooded her skull.

Jake was damn good at this defending lark, and he couldn't help but be impressed as he and Ofie once again kept the creature off him. "Sure you aren't a moon dude?" he joked with a smirk before turning his attention determinedly back on the matter at hand. Things were woozy and unstable but managable and as he dropped into a battle stance, Tracey held low to the ground, he let the world recede, till nothing mattered but the charge and the fight.

He had to make the strike count, earn the support the other two had given him, and to do that he had to surrender himself to Tracey completely, hope against hope that his shield would withstand the effort of doing so. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes for just a second, the world seeming to slow to a crawl as the bleeding runes along Tracey's blade seemed to stop and flicker before glowing with a new intensity.

He moved, faster than a human should have been capable of, closing the distance to the shifting and twisting creature, the moment he was almost in striking range leaping up into the fog, out of sight, twirling the massive axe into position as if it was a wing rather than a massive slab of sheer steel. When gravity seized hold of him, he dropped like a stone but this time with an elegance and poise usually lacking in his charged. He collided with the creature with a crash of steel on whatever solid matter it was made of, eliciting an unpleasant screech from what sounded like many voices as it took the full brunt of the swing.

Dropping to the ground he found himself, for the first time in a long while, entirely unharmed by his own attack. Better than he could have expected.

Rep's comment only earned a unpleasant grumble from Jake.
"Moons are stupid."
Defending was boring. He wanted to attack.

Seeing the hunter's fear attack connect made him arch an eyebrow, but it soon fell back into a bored expression.
Ok, so Suns could dish out damage. Big deal.

His defense seemed to slip as his mind started to wander.

There was always that nervous worry that Rep's charge could go bad, not that Ofelia had seen it in person, but she'd heard about some weapons actually hurting their owner instead of actually working as they should. There was a pause in the redhead, a hesitance, and when Rep struck and seemed to come back down from it okay she may or may not have been holding her breath. He'd hit whatever the hell they were fighting hard and she needed to do the same. Suns did damage.

Rue was already egging Ofelia on long before she had a chance to go, a time to step back and wait to be defended, and the teen took a fast step to follow up behind Rep and strike with her own FEAR charge. It wasn't as strong as Rep's by any means though it still did a nice chunk of damage, and as the blacklash hit her the shield she wore was still okay, there was nothing to worry about, and she jumped back next to her group just in time to see the bored look on Jake's face.

"Well then Jake, do ya wanna go the next few rounds? Rep, how's yer shield? Can ya take a few hits wit'out worry? The kid here needs ta stretch his legs, the runes on his weapon are glowin' pretty strong." This of course meant Ofelia was more than willing to defend Jake for the moment, to let him get in his attacks. There was a thrill about destroying an opponent, no lies about that, and to be stuck on moon duty while two people just devastated the boss around probably was not that fun. "Rep feel free ta keep attackin' or provide Jake wit' some support, the choice is yers. Ah'mma back him up come 'round, the kid needs ta have a little fun."

When battles were going her way, when people were listening, Ofelia could sort of...relax? It was funny how at ease she was on the battlefield even with the gas in her system and paranoia springing all sorts of high and wonderful. She had Rue back to a hum, no longer screaming, and it was weird to say she felt at home among the damage and pain.

Moons are stupid.

At that single, petulant little snark, Rep's tolerance for the Death kid ran out. It was arrogance typical of the intel divisions and he remembered coldly why it was useless to extend any kind of olive branch to them. You could go out and ******** die for them and they'd complain it took too long.

Logic dictated he should help defend Jake, that it was the most strategic course of action for the situation. But he didn't feel like being strategic when the people he was supposed to be working with had all the enthusiasm of a bored child in class. At least Ofie was pulling her weight and genuinely trying to push things forward, the other guy for all his ability at defensive backing just looked weary.

Scowling he eyed the monstrous thing and the hollow emptiness the used charge left behind made his mood all the more dismal. Whatever friendliness he'd been willing to extend died in the water. There wasn't much point trying to help people out when they really didn't want to be helped in the first place.

Jake was well on his way on becoming a mini Caelius
Not noticing how his comment seemed to rub Rep the wrong way, he only lifted his tonfas, runes glowing bright with the accumulated fear.
He didn't need either Rep or Ofelia to defend him. Unlike the other two, he still had his fear shield fully intact, and really, he hated having to depend on others.

Who cares. I don't need their help.

It was a good thing he had Chester and Ofelia to keep him in check, because if not, would of been pretty much dead at this point.

You ready?
He hadn't tried using his fear attack a lot, but it was never too late to try, right?

Wisps of smoke seemed to ooze from the tonfas as tendrils formed and seemed to lash out at the foggy apparition, warding off any attacks toward him.
It... worked? YES.

Jake grinned.
"NOW we're talking."

Ofelia sort of...winced when she figured out that Jake had totally insulted the Moon division. Normally she didn't care because he was just a kid, spewing out insults as he went, but uh...doing that in front of Rep who was dating a Moon guy was a very bad idea. The redhead in question didn't seem to outwardly react which was probably a worse thing and Ofelia...would probably need to pull Jake aside and totally warn Rep off of him (and vise versa) for a good long while.

That being said she still needed to attack, the monster gas or whatever it was they were attacking was still standing, and since everyone had shields still somewhat up she just went for it. Her shield stung as it went below half-way, Rue's singing in her head turning into a warning hiss. She wasn't going to act like it bothered her, even if she was a little out of breath, since at this time wasn't she supposed to be the lead? Whatever, let them play their games because guys were hard to deal with.

Hopefully though Rep didn't punch Jake in the face when this was all over because she didn't want to be blamed for it. Exploding did not sound cool. "It's...almost down guys, jus' have at it. We'll heal up when...it's all done." Why was she panting? Stupid injuries. The bracelet on her wrist smacked against her skin again as she wiped a bit of sweat from her forehead.

Yeah, she really hoped Jake and Rep didn't have it out.

Ofie had it for the most part spot on, Rep wouldn't forget in a hurry the jab against moons. He simply mentally stored it away for later, a mental note that someone needed taught a lesson somehow if possible, or possibly just needed to get a good taste of how strongly he felt about the moon issue. But not on a mission. All that mattered right now was the battle at hand.

The creature was starting to falter, and as it did, it was all Rep could do to stop himself from flat out berserking at it until it went down, forcing himself to maintain poise and distance from those wicked sharp claws.

But it was struggling to hold together now, and as he stuck it again, he could taste victory.

The fog was almost gone (or whatever it was) for better or worse and the objects that kept coming at the trip seemed to be either ebbing or at least slowing down. The teen thought this to be a good sign, seeing as the sooner they got away the better, and she flexed her fingers in preparation to attack when something seemed to grab her leg.

She looked down, face somewhat pale with nerves, and as a doll that looked just like her seemed to slither up her leg it took all the self-control she had not to scream. Instead Ofelia tried to knock it off of her leg and into the woods but it only held on, sizzling deep into her shield as if it were attacking. Eventually it released itself, or faded away or something, and the teen looked at the maggots that were sliding up and down her leg.

Her shield was half-gone, she was probably the worse for wear out of the group. "Keep goin'." That was all she could say.

Rep was in his own little vicious world, done talking and trying to be helpful or friendly, shut off again into one of his huffy little moods where he'd gotten burned and was done supplying any ******** at all. He drove Tracey forward like a lance, impaling the axe's feathered edge into the wavering creature which screeched, and with a flail of arms, tentacles, whatever it was, an indefinable shadow - it dissipated.

he snarled, stepping back from its fading form.

"Let's get the ******** out of here and report the same s**t's going on here."

Jake couldn't agree more.
He was done. SO done with this mission, and Ofelia, and Rep, and whatever stupid hunter he was forced to interact with.

Weapons still summoned (just in case the big redhead still wanted something to hit), he turned towards Ofie, giving her a look that said "let's get out of here."
Even he could tell she didn't look happy to be staying here much longer than needed.

Ofelia took a deep breath and exhaled as the last of the whatever it was vanished, the mist that seemed to be stuck in her head receding as well. The whole island didn't seem as creepy as it was when everything came out and she simply brushed the maggots off her leg rather than just stare at them like the world was ending. Rep seemed to be either waiting for a chance to punch Jake now that the battle was over or just eager to leave according to his growls and Jake was just being typical Jake. The teen was more than happy to oblige both of them in her own way, though she was a but worried about Rep's shield level. He'd taken a few hits without protection, mostly because she said everyone needed to charge in, and so as they started back to the portal she decided to do a quick check-up on both guys.

Asking never hurt, right? "How are y'alls shields? Everyone okay or do we need ta patch up jus' in case sommin' else shows up?" She still had both her runic weapons ready to go, the torch had gone unused this time, and the redhead pulled the roll of bandages out from the pouch she'd decided to use to carry them in.

"My shield's pretty low, but it'll last till we get out of this s**t hole."
mostly he wanted to avoid being touched, physical contact still a sure fire way to make his skin crawl. "Besides, if we get jumped, we can pendant."
