Actually, The moon trainee had not yet realized just how she had 'taken care' of the creatures inside the barn, but was thinking just how impressive it was for her to take them all out without the assistance of a weapon. And also having a mental war with Zanthvos as he pointed out how much of a wimp he was compared to Ofelia.

Though at least he had done a good job with the peeling. "Thanks" He responded with a small smile, then followed the instructions to cut the carrots, placing his knuckles on the board and holding the knife up against them. Keeping the vegetable in place, he slowly began to cut them into slices like Ofelia's carrot. His slices though were pretty uneven with some being bigger then others, but he was just happy he hadn't taken off his finger.

"Okay...Whats next?" He asked politely.

"Now we cheat an' use the slap-chop thing." Ofelia should have and would have shown him the fast way to chop and slice things close together but totally using something super easy for a first lesson was the best way to do it. She got out the tool, always still surprised someone on the island had bought it, and she slid her carrot parts underneath. "Jus' smack 'em like this - " She slapped her hand down on the top several times, everything inside getting finely moved down, and she hit it once or twice more before lifting the lid up and pushing her carrot bits out.

The slap-chop was then pushed towards Jason and Ofelia went back over to the book, ready to read the next step and move on. They needed to wait for the rice to cool, that was certain, but they didn't need to wait that long.

Also meat soon? She liked the smell of cooking meat.

The slap chop thing? It already sounded like something you would buy from a infomercial, and upon seeing the item Jason was sure it had come from one. However this time it actually did the job, cutting the carrots into fine slices.

And it was easy to use too. He had no problem pressing the button to chop up his own carrots, and soon enough he pushed both items to the side. "That was easier then I thought it would be." He remarked, then moved over with the sun hunter to see the next step.

"I think we need to barbecue the pork now.." Jason read the ingredients, and then promptly made a face. They wouldn't be able to BBQ the pork, so they would have to settle on the next best thing.

"Umm...since we don't have a barbecue...how about we fry it?" Because he was pretty sure roasting it would take ages.

"Fryin' meat works. Since it's important that we get it all cooked thoroughly an' evenly so Ah'mma hand that task off ta ya. It's an important thing ta learn anyway, how ta properly fry sommin' other than bacon, so yer up." If the two of them went at the meat together there was a slight chance one person could cook it more than the other, or under-cook it, so it was in the best interests of both if one person handled it. Considering that frying things was very much old hat to Ofelia she was more than willing to pass it on and see how much Jason could do. It was no different then say...bacon, but there was a certain bit about it that had to have care taken to it. "Get the oven top nice an' hot, but not too hot so ya end up burnin' everythin'. Ya've fried bacon b'for so it's not that different. Jus' gotta be a little more careful, take it a bit more slow - yer gonna be usin' oil."

No one needed to worry about getting burned from oil splashes though, not with a shield, though the redhead felt that not getting oil burns meant someone could learn wrong and end up sloppy. Sometimes the injuries a person got in the kitchen were the best proof that they were learning how to cook properly.

"Er, right then..." Jason looked unease at the prospect of frying the pork by himself. Sure he had cooked bacon, but that was easy. He wasn't so sure that the port would work the same way.

Listening to Ofelia tips, he grabbed a pot from the cupboard, and then went searching for the oil. He had a faint idea of how to cook them; he'd seen people fry fries before, and since he had been told to use oil, he must have to fill up the pot with oil, and cook them that way.

In no time at all, he had a pot filled with oil, and he even managed to find the pork, which he was chopping into slices as he waited for the oil to heat.

To give a hand with the cooking, mostly because her stomach was growling, Ofelia pushed Jason in front of the frying pan and took over chopping before she properly deposited everything inside and motioned for him to start. "Good, good - ya got it goin' well." Ofelia was circling Jason as he fried, pleased enough with his progress. "Watch the corner there - yer 'bout ta get a crackle that if ya didn' have a shield would burn inta yer hand." There wasn't much she could say or do in showing him without doing it all herself or making a second batch. They didn't have time for that since they already got vegetables cut. If they'd waited then sure, it could have been one after the other, but for now it was simply watch and instruct. And Jason was doing really good. "Are ya sure ya never done this b'for? Perhaps ya got some innate talent in there that's helpin' ya along."

A friendly and teasing poke entered Jason's shoulder, Ofelia being so much more careful than usual so she didn't end up bruising him like she did last time. Perhaps she was learning to be more considerate....or there was the fact he was currently frying something she hoped to eat and the thought of having pork ruined was a horrible thing. "Take yer time though, make sure it's good evenly. Pork is one'a those rare meats that if ya do it wrong ya end up sick." No pressure, really.

Jason moved out of the way when prompted, Happy he was getting some assistance after all. He wasn't sure what would of happened if Ofelia had just watched. As the meat was dropped in, the oil began to hiss and spit as if the pork was still alive and was not happy with being put in hot oil.

"Yeah, I'm quite sure. I don't think I have a secret talent ." He replied, suddenly drawing his hand back in reflex as some of the oil hit it. But it didn't hurt; as Ofelia had said, the FEAR shield was protecting him. A interesting side effect of having a fallen angel stuck in ones head. Thankfully he was being quiet for once, more interested in watching and learning how humans prepared their meals.

The poke was met with a awkward smile, which disappeared when he was told they would all get sick if he didn't cook this right. "I'll...make sure it's cooked then."

To do this task though took a while to accomplish. The moon trainee wasn't sure what how long the pork was supposed to be fried for, so he left it in for around ten minutes. By then, when the meat was brought out he frowned, wondering if it was cooked enough, or not enough. It looked like it was, especially with the burnt edges.

Ofelia seemed to sense the fact that Jason wasn't sure and so she took a knife and sliced the pork open, peering in on it. Everything looked good, it smelled at least right, so to help alleviate some of his fear (and with a hope she couldn't get food poisoning once she had a shield) Ofelia took a bite. It tasted fine (and even a little good, considering what they'd done) and so the teen held the fork out towards Jason. Sure it wasn't common place for people who weren't related to eat from one another's forks, but whatever.

At Deus everyone was family...right?

It didn't seem to bother Jason to eat from someone else's fork, and considering Ofelia had already eaten some it was only fair he eat some too, especially if it wasn't cooked properly.

But it looked like it was. And even better, it tasted good. Just like pork should taste. "Well, looks like our pork is cooked, should we add everything together now?" He asked. It looked like everything was almost ready.

"Uh...if the book says so sure? Ah mean we're tryin' ta follow an exact recipe right so maybe it's best ta do what is says?" Ofelia peered over at the cookbook as she dropped the fork into the sink, but she looked at the mess they were making as well in the process. "First though we gotta clean up somma this stuff, make it easier fer us jus' ta end the meal wit' eatin' an' only havin' ta clean up the plates."

All they really had to do was move the meat cutting boards into the sink, maybe start soaking the frying pan, but those were minor things and hopefully by now the rice was cool enough. The redhead opened the fridge after she tossed something in the sink, ready for action, and she reached in enough to touch the bowls. "Rice feels like it's cooled down 'nough too, so what's next? 'member, Ah'm jus' here fer back-up on yer end." She wink-blinked and grinned, pulling out their two sets of rice. The pork had been really tasty so she was looking forward to everything else.

Ofelia's suggestion seemed like a good idea, especially since it would cut down on the time after dinner for washing up. And it looked like the rice was cool too, so he could do a bit of multitasking to get everything done. "Alright then, I'll just move the pan and the boards to the sink, then I'll set the wok up..."

Filling up the sink with hot water mixed with a splash of detergent, Jason placed their used boards and pans in the sink, while he set the wok up. With a glance at the book, he added the oil, and a few minutes later the egg as well. Though it was obvious he wasn't used to 'swirling' the oil and egg around as he yelped a few times when the oil almost spilled over.

Eventually, he made a mad dash for another board, placing the cooked egg on the board and began cutting the eggs into thin slices. "I think we'll be done shortly." Jason said to Ofelia as he worked.

"It really does look like it." Ofelia was working on her half on the fried rice, her pace a let more steady and probably not as frantic as Jason's. It was amusing (to say the least) watching the way he worked, the adorable frenzy of a newcomer in the kitchen, and the teen wondered if he noticed how much she was smiling at him. Hopefully he wouldn't and then he wouldn't think she was creepy but it was strange to think that being in here with him was putting her at ease.

When it came time for her to toss stuff in her own wok it was....a little more difficult than she'd thought. Usually the teen used a regular frying pan since she was only making a small amount, or a griddle on which she just fried everything all at once. It took a few trial and error tosses for her to get it right (or even looking good) and during the process she may or may not have stuck her tongue out in effort. Why it was always easier to work and think with her tongue out was beyond the redhead. "Ah'm inclined ta agree, an' Ah do think we made our portions pretty large. Anyone ya wanna invite in ta eat wit' us?" Ofelia didn't really have anyone on her end of the scale and the way she was eating lately she'd likely be able to finish off her two servings by herself. It was like her body was growing though she thankfully wasn't getting any larger.

A few more tosses of her wok had her humming as she went, the tone pretty horrible. Ofelia was tonedeaf at the very least and just plain cruel at the very worst.

"Hmm...I can't think of anyone off the top of my head." Jason thought out loud as he threw in the carrots, listening to the sizzle they made. "I can eat some now and save the rest for later." By now he was getting the hang of it, and he didn't have to worry about swirling anymore either.

Though it didn't seem to worry him when Ofelia began to hum. He didn't have the heart to tell her she..wasn't very good at it, so he kept quiet, focusing more on cooking the fried rice. He had reached the stage where he had added everything into it, and was just waiting for the rice to cook.

"Well then, let's get this show on the road." Ofelia set the rice down, prepared her wok, and nodded to Jason. Her humming had stopped (thankfully for all ears nearby) and instead she decided to focus on the task at hand. Her rice was placed in, along with her share of meat and carrots and other vegetables that they'd cut up over time (because it was done offscreen, for serious) and now the hard part of not tossing everything everywhere came into play.

She looked to Jason to see if he was ready once more and lifted her set into the air. It was time to go, she could do this, but she offered advice to the first timer. "Take it slow, no need ta rush, okay?"

"Rightly-o" Jason nodded, Grabbing his (also prepared earlier) vegetables and meat, he began to delicate process of placing everything in the wok. He had to be careful to heed Ofelia's warning, but so far he seemed to be doing alright, managing to get everything into the wok in one go.

Though when he began to move the wok around while he cooked, he did end up getting some of the food on the ground. "Bugger."
