Yeah. Riyo remembered when she was 'just a freshman'. Thrown to the wolves in the human world at that Jack-forsaken house. Watching things die left and right. Fed catnip until the world was just one big ******** rainbow.
Ugh.
"Of course it's bitter." The ghoul's cold hands gently scooped the cup, holding it as if it was a lifeline. She would savor the warmth before she'd drink it. "Bitter is truth. I've always seen sugary substances as an attempt to sweeten the harshness of reality." Riyo gestured to the hot chocolate before finally taking a sip of the dark liquid. "I'd prefer to see the world without granules of sugar corrupting my vision."
Xiu's comment was met with a mild eyeroll. "I'm not surprised. And perhaps it's better for you that way." As if coffee was the gateway to a purer way of sight. Oh Riyo, get off your high horse already.
At the mention of snow, however, the feline began to clam up. Her tail swayed nervously behind her as she peered out a window. Thoughts of the madness that was last Christmastival resurfaced. The insanity. The keys. The play's interruption. What a mess.

The reaper savored the sweetness and warmth of the beverage, humming softly as she took her second drink once more to show her approval, "You guys really know how to make it, here." she complimented with a grin, glancing over to Lizzy and Xiu. The remark on the cold though... she gave an amused smirk, "It's usually pretty cold where I'm from." she replied casually. Heck, this was nothing compared to what her parents were used to, too! But hey, she couldn't blame them if they weren't used to such weather.
Looking over to her feathered acquaintance, the ghoul gave a tip of her head to await his verdict on the cocoa, "It's not going to hurt you. If anything, it'll make you want more of it." glancing down to the ground, she teasingly offered the cup to Cannon, who gave a bemused expression, and a subtle shake of his head in a polite decline... before resuming his intense stare down on everyone.

The attention over Zephyros and the hot chocolate makes him blush out of embarrassment. Was he acting that strangely? Being in this new land was a little to confusing him. Compared to the warm skies of which he occupied when he was younger.
He just looks over at the fire demon first, and cocks his head to the side with furrowed brows. "What do drinks do with your FEAR? Does it cause you to combust?" He only knows of his own fear and drinking water never caused him to combust-- maybe it's this Hot chocolate.
But with the encouragement from the three ghouls surrounding surrounding him, he slowly does take a sip of this unusual thing. Zephyros is familiar with chocolate. Just not in a melted form like this. And not with so much sugar added to something already made to be sweet. With one sip, his purple eyes grow large and his pupils dilate. IT was good! Not great, but good! And energizing! And.. so.. so warm.
With a loud sigh, he nearly melts from the cocoa himself and sighs softly. "It is very good, it is! I don't get this from where I come from. No, just regular chocolate.. Chocolate that isn't this sweet. Verusha is right.. I want more. Where can I get more of this?"
He's already becoming less aggravated and more hyper.. something that is going to become a rare sight in the future.

Being intrigued with sweets, of course Marosa was going to head to the cafeteria. He'd seen the flyers, and had been interested to go and 'mingle', while still keeping as much of a distance as he could.
Marosa wasn't quite hungry, though a little peckish. He stood in front of the food, attempting to decide just what exactly he was in the mood for.

"I like my coffee sweetened too!" Lizzy nodded at Xiu before tilting her head at Riyo, trying to decipher her words of wisdom, "What does... Coffee have to do with reality?" Is this real life? Or it is just fantasy?
"Really?" She was surprised to hear that from Verusha; she had taken one look at the way she was dressed, and the way her familiar was on fire, and assumed that they came from somewhere warmer, "Like Xiu said, it's not common for it to snow here... It's usually the standard autumn all year round deal for Amityville."
When Zephyros expressed fondness for the drink, Lizzy beamed; he also seemed to have relaxed a little, since he had been quite reserved the whole time, "Hang on, I'll get you another-" She hurried off to get a second cup of hot chocolate for the boil, handing it over the moment she was back, "You could make a cup for yourself too! I mean, the ingredients for it are fairly easy to find."
Noticing another student in their midst, she decided to take a gamble, and waved at him; she did not recognize him at all, so he was probably a new student, "Hi! Um, it's cold outside, so would you like a cup of hot chocolate? It's on the house!"

Perking right up, Marosa slid a little closer, still wary on keeping just enough distance where someone wouldn't accidentally touch him. "Oi would love a'cuppa choc'lit," He replied, raising a hand to wave in return. He gave a small smile, warming right up. This wouldn't be so bad after all!

"Great! I'll go grab you one!" Lizzy beamed, temporarily leaving the group to fetch the boil a cup of hot chocolate, "I'm Lizzy, by the way... Are you new to the school, by any chance?"

"Aye. First year, first dey." He pressed his fingers together, now glancing around at the cafeteria. It was really something, this school. It was a wonder why his father had pressed him so hard to attend this, and he was starting to understand why. "Oi'm Marosa." He smiled as she returned, her own smile contagious. He was starting to adjust comfortably. "Thank ye for the hot choc'lit."

The boil's huge purple eyes stared at Lizzy for quite a bit until the new cup of chocolate comes his way. He doesn't even wait for it too cool down, before lifting the cup up to his mouth and sucks it down like it water.
He regrets doing that instantly though, for his tongue is now scalded. And his cheeks flush from the heat.
He's not happy. Although he just tries to ignore it, while fanning his tongue lightly and nodding slightly at the pink haired ghoul. "What are the ingredients.. Or.. where could one find them in Amityville? I know where I could manage to make it at my own homeland.. but I do not wish to travel here to make some .. delicious drink like this. Although it was very good.."

"Careful, it's hot!" Lizzy warned Zephyros a little too late, looking sheepish when he apparently scalded his tongue. When he asked for the ingredients, she paused, tapping his chin with a thoughtful expression, "Chocolate chips or chocolate powder, sugar, milk... You might want to check the interweb for an exact list of ingredients?" As much as she liked hot chocolate, she hadn't actually tried preparing it for herself before.
"Um, there's a maul near the school? It's the go to place for everything from clothing to food to minipet supplies," She suggested, "It's within walking distance, at Town Heights! Just follow the path out the school." It should be relatively easy to find, since it was in the direction of Town Hall.
"Wow, first day? That's awesome!" She replied, waving a hand in the air when Marosa thanked her, "You're welcome! We're just going for a quick tour around the school... Join us? We're just about to head for the gymnasium." They had lingered around the cafeteria a little too long, and she figured that now was a good time to move, since most of them were now warmed up, and no longer affected by the cold outside... Then again, they would need to go out of the school to reach the gymnasium.
Sigh.
"On to the next stop!" She raised her voice a little in order to get their attention before walking out the cafeteria, flag in one hand, and a cup of still steaming hot chocolate in the other, "The gymnasium. There's an outdoor and an indoor component to it... Swimming pool's inside. Professor Red's office used to be inside, but due to an incident, it's a giant ice cube now." She had nothing to do with that... Nope, "Since it's cold, I think we should head indoors."
And that's what they did.
"Professor Red should be around here... Somewhere," It was hard to tell, since her office wasn't accessible anymore.

AJ just wandered around his new school while he saw a group of students came across. What are they doing here? The boil was curious and decided to make a greeting and found out whether it was something fun. " Hey, what are you doing here?" He said. Dragain Not sure who I can quote also.

"Somewhere" was a relative term. Under normal circumstances the gym teacher with her bright red cloak would be easy to spot in the vast open space in the gym. Today however, someone thought it fit to haphazardly stack all sorts of obstacle equipment in the middle of the gym, right over the pool. Students brave enough to step forward and toe the pool would discover their inquisitive feet met an invisible floor. When not in use, an invisible floor covered the pool to turn it into a usable full-fledged gym.
A loud bleat could be heard from the pile before a colorful Surefoot Charger jumped up, pausing for a moment at the top of the pile before leaping forward, bleating as it fled from something. Or to be more precise, someone. A figure familiar to some, a stranger to overs crested the obstacles after the minipet.
The figure twirled a dark rope in her hands, spinning it around rapidly before letting it loose. The lasso settled over the ram minipet. It shook its head and jumped as the rope tightened, slipping past its head and over its shoulders, slipping off of its hindquarters only to tighten around its feet.
The stranger braced herself as she rapidly pulled the rope in, jerking the rope as the minipet attempted to struggle free. Swiftly the ram was pulled in and wrangled, bleating rather pathetically as its feet were tied together.
With the task accomplished, Red dusted her gloved hands off. "Ooh, visitors? I'm flattered," she laughed, stepping around the still-struggling ram to approach the students. "I'm Professor Red. Welcome to Amityville's gym. If you're thinking about taking my class, it would be ideal to invest in some clothes you won't mind getting dirty. I pride myself in having one of the roughest classes at Amityville."
She tilts her head to one side, and grins widely. "But life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all, isn't it? You'll find Amityville to be one of the most exciting and dangerous places you've ever been to. Don't be afraid. Here at Amityville you're expected to try things. Sometimes it'll work for the better, sometimes it won't. Besides... You won't know 'til you've tried, right?"
The professor stood still, watching the students. She shifted uneasily, then broke into a laughter that she followed by a shrug. "That's about it, I think! If any of you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Welcome to Amityville!"

Apparently Xiu had zoned out some, distracted with sipping and enjoying her hot chocolate while musing on the snow outside. It took her a long moment before she realized that there was a new voice among their little group and, perking up, the baku turned to face the newcomer with wide eyes.
"Oh, hello!" She chirped in surprise, tilting her head as she smiled up at Marosa, having caught a bit of his and Lizzy's exchange, "I'm Xiu, a third year here! Welcome to Amity." The ghoul lifted her free hand to wave, only to hum thoughtfully and glance over at Lizzy when her friend announced that they were about to move. Sounded like a plan!
She began to follow after the spider demoness, only to pause when yet another voice piped up from out of nowhere. Curious, she paused, turning to eye the boil with the dragon-like tail with a friendly smile. "Hi there! Are you new? We--some of us second and third years--and taking new students around to see the school. Would you like to join us?"
Xiu gestured, indicating that AJ should follow if he so desired. She then trotted after the rest of the group until they reached the gym and found Red.

"Oi'm Marosa." He waved at Xiu, moving to follow as he clutched his cup of hot chocolate close, sipping heavenly sips from it little by little. They entered the gym and Marosa got to see first hand how one 'roped' a small ram minipet, its bleats useless and falling on deaf ears. Unable to help but grin at her brash tactics, Marosa crossed his arms and covered his mouth, glancing away and attempting not to laugh. It was humerus, and he felt a little lighter due to his laughter. Laughter was the best medicine, after all, wasn't it? Welcome to Amityville. The words made Marosa's head straighten up, and his smile was genuine as he leaned back, now glancing around the gym. "If oi'd take class here... oi'd have ta wear a lot of clothing, methinks..."

[ sorry, I've been oocly busy! ]
Danny lurched along with the group, making small talk and chatting with the snots. The gym! The gym was one of her favorite places. Of course, they were at the pool, Danny's least favorite spot in the gym. When Red came into view, Danny immediately shrunk back, shitfy eyes watching the room, and the teacher carefully.
She didn't want to alert the new students, didn't want to bring them into the world of insanity. So instead, for once in her life, Danny decided to stay quiet, and keep back.
It didn't mean she wasn't ready though. The moment Red snapped, Danny was ready to take her down. She wouldn't let her friends be attacked again, teacher or not.
She at least distracted herself with one of the new students. A pretty one, with nice orange hair like hers. "You don't need a lot of clothes ..." Danny assured him. She normally ran around in a bikini and torn shorts. Yes, clothes were the last of one's worries. Then again, Danny was a fire demon. She had a bit of an excuse.
