"Oh." He set his jaw, concentrating on watching his feet.

Hm...he didn't like that answer. Sighing, Candace reached out and gently took Jerry's hand, holding it in her own and giving it a squeeze. "The Jerry I met, the one I loved? He was always happy, always optimistic. He didn't explode with rage or wallow in depression and just not take care of himself. He was always there when someone needed him, he was always singing a happy little song. This Jerry I'm looking at now is...I don't know what to make of him. It's not the same man at all. Is it true you yelled at Sasha in the Life labs?" She frowned, squeezing his hand again. "Are you okay, Jerry? I'm serious."

"No," He said softly, glad they were far from the cafeteria by now. "I m-mean... we had an argument. And... and no I'm not... not okay." He mumbled, his hand sweaty in her's.

At least he was being honest. "Talk to me. I hate seeing you like this."

"It's... it's complicated. I just... I should shower." It was clear he wasn't comfortable talking about it out in public. If she was to get anything more out of him, it would have to wait until they got back to his room.

Candace had to refrain from commenting. She would have said it probably wasn't as complicated as Jerry was making it out to be. He seemed to take things really hard more often than not. "Okay." This wasn't over. She was determined to figure out what was stopping Jerry from bouncing back as he had before. She was quiet for the rest of their walk back to the dorms, still holding his hand for the whole walk.

His room hadn't changed much since her last time there. A bit messier with coffee mugs but not quite as bad as Rep's horde had been. There were also more notes taped to the wall than before.

He sighed as they walked in, tossing his coat onto the couch and unzipped his jumpsuit to his waist.

His guitar sat waiting for him in the corner, but the ukulele was missing.

Candace took note of the room with a soft sigh. Jerry, really? This was how you were living? Awful. She let him go when they entered the room and set her book down somewhere safe. Candace then took off her coat, her scarf and her shoes.

She was staying. "...didn't you have another instrument?"

"I um... lent it to someone." He left it at that, stopping in his bedroom fr a moment to nab his towel and some fresh clothes before heading to the bathroom, "Make yourself comfortable I'll uh. Just be a bit."

Ah, okay. Candace really had no reason to question Jerry's explanation further; it would be an entirely different story if he had lent out the guitar instead of the little ukulele. "Okay, have a good shower." Candace sounded a bit distracted as she spoke, her attention on the room around her. Once Jerry was gone she quietly paced around the room, picking up coffee mugs and hanging one from each finger until she had them all. They were immediately taken to the kitchenette on one side of the room and put in the sink. She'd be back for them later.

How could someone live like this? It was almost as bad as rooming with Otto! Messy brat. Jerry's room hadn't been this bad when they had been together! Geeze. The laundry was picked up next, carried into his room and then neatly sorted and folded. Better...what next? His hunter coat was picked up next with a soft tsk before being draped over the back of his couch.

She returned to the kitchenette after that and rolled up her sleeves. why are you doing this, exactly? Atropos was so confused.

"Because if someone doesn't do it now he won't do it ever. This mug is gross. See that? He's probably had this one for awhile." Candace cringed and distracted herself with washing the mugs. They would be damn spotless by the time she was done. This would be a good first step for him, right? Organized surroundings, not just crap lying around everywhere. He could have some peace in his own apartment.

Eventually the clean mugs were lined up neatly on the counter and Candace turned to head for the bathroom. Jerry had nothing she hadn't seen, it wasn't like she cared if he was modest around her or not. She knocked once in warning before just letting herself in. "I hope you don't mind I did some tidying up." Candace announced as she entered the room, checking her nails for any grime from the mugs. "I don't know what's clean and what isn't of your laundry so I kind of just sorted it by what was in the best condition."

Jerry gave a startled noise as he heard the door open and shut.

You must be the only male in existence that had a PROBLEM with women constantly bargin' in on you in the shower. I swear to Jack-

He exhaled slowly. Was it so much to ask for a bit of respect? At least he trusted Candace not to rip the curtain open and dig her nails into his shoulder and demand-

You got the weirdest problems. If I was there-

"But you weren't," His jaw set as he whispered the last thought, before lifting his voice up, trying to sound casual. "That's... that's fine. I just... haven't gotten to a lot of it."

Candace heard the noise Jerry made as she entered and lifted her head, giving the curtain and unimpressed look. Seriously? He knew she was here.

He is a strange man. Atropos observed with amusement. She was curious to see how these two would play out today.

"Sorry." She muttered, referring to having startled him. She didn't really mean it. Candace moved to sit on the sink's counter, picking up Jerry's towel and idly picking at the corner to keep her hands busy. "Not a problem. I just gave you less work." Candace told him with a smile. "Feeling better?"

"Cleaner, at least," He ventured warily. He hurried with the shampoo.

"That's a good start." Candace replied somewhat distractedly while she inspected as much of the bathroom as she could without leaving her perch on the counter. "I considered offering to wash your back for you as a joke but I didn't think you'd appreciate that." At least she was being honest. It was something Candace tried to make a conscious effort about when it came to Jerry. After all the lying she had done to him he deserved honesty.

Now she just needed him to keep being honest with her.

Jerry suddenly burst into a high, manic laughter that was a bit more forced than he had intended for it to be.

He cleared his throat. "Er... I'll be done in just a bit.... er...."

The bathroom itself had little of note. A straight-razor sat beside the sink, the rest of the kit stuffed in the default medicine cabinet the room came with. Standard towels, bar of soap, toothbrush.

All in all, the man kept a very boring bathroom. The only thing that stood out, really, was the tinfoil g-cleff he had crafted to decorate his toothbrush glass.
