When the world stopped spinning, he got up and held the wall a moment before turning to see Jerry being tackled by the creature. Not wanting the Sun to be breakfast, he moved over and, not really in the mood now with such a migraine, punched the thing in the back. This it did not like, and turned about to follow Melvin slowly down the hallway once again.
"You okay there?!" He called back.

"Yeah, yeah I'm f-AAH!" The creature gathered itself up, suddenly hefting Jerry up by the leg, Roar clattering to the ground under him.

Melvin moved back over, ducking under the arm of the slithering beat before jumping up and grabbing about the elbow. "DROP HIM!" He shouted, and kicked at it's stomach which caused the creature to drop them both and hiss at both of them.
Melvin was on his back, hissing, before he made to reach out for Roar in order to give it to Jerry. Just before he did though, Saliva screamed in his mind and caused him to grip his head. OOOWWWWwwwww!!!
Don't touch him, you d**k!!

The creature dropped him and the Sun immmediately scrambled for his weapon, but the snake-like tail whipped out, sending Roar sliding against the wall. "Oh, bother."

The same tail that swept Roar away was now being used to slam the ground, causing Melvin to fall back and then roll to avoid being slapped by it and then roll the other way to again avoid it. The shadow was pissed beyond all measure.
"Get your gun, man!!" This was not working as nicely as they probably both had hoped.

Roar gave an indignant growl of displeasure as Jerry's hand caught a fist full of quills, wrenching the thing upward to fire as soon as the beast was between the cross hairs, the walls shaking with the resonating force of the blast.

This was getting very serious, and Melvin rolled up against the wall before standing up and breathing deep. He nearly got stomped on and he had been too close to having his head crushed in. Looking over, he saw Jerry was back with the gun in his hands, but this creature was ready to start this all over again.
One clean shot. One clean shot should do him.
Melvin moved around before he took a breath. Alright, rodeo.
I'm going nuts here..
To even be doing this, he thought he was crazy. Running over, he went on the snake's back, rising it's tail before holding on. "SHOT IT!"

"OH FOR THE LOVE OF -!!" Melvin's track record hadn't been stellar, but right now he just wanted to hit something and Jerry was being blocked by a giant shadow beast. Riding as he did, he rose his gun and hit the beast in the back of the head. It growl out once and then fell forward, vanishing into dust as it hit the ground.
Melvin was left sitting there on the ground, just looking both confused and surprised. "Wait, that worked?"

"Oh, thank goodness," Jerry panted, straightening his glasses as he gathered himself up to his feet, watching as the shadow disapparated. "Let's get out of here."
Warily, he pressed forward. This wasn't like the other maze on the muse island. There was no distant song to pull him forward- but he wandered all the same, hoping for the best- and that nothing would attack them along the way.

Melvin followed along, dusting himself off and straightening out his jacket. This maze at least had no vines, but the confined spaces bothered him. It was dark here, cornered, and reminded him of places he tried to forget. "A little...dim here, isn't it?" He pointed out, breathing measured, controlled breathes. He was counting in his head.
