He didn't see a shadow. That was a good thing. Still, he had to be careful. His heart thudded loudly, so loud that he was afraid the bird would hear.

He made it back in one piece. Good lord, he had been afraid, but perhaps it was that fear that spurred him on in such a way. He was alive and thankful.

Feverfew was ready. She'd sat out the previous race, but she wanted to go again. Oh, did she pick a bad day for it. Elil? She was worried. Stinking bird. Fortunately, Althea was there... But what if she were too far away and the hawk came down and carried her off? Althea and Crow were heavy, while she was not. Worried, yet stubborn and determined, the doe made her descent.

A hawk. Right... great. One rabbit was already attacked. But no guts no glory. No guts no glory. Hyd kept repeating that to himself. He had a plan. He was going to run so damn fast that grass was going to remain stationary man!

Well that plan sucked. He slunk his belly low to the ground to attempt to avoid rustling the grass. He didn't want to wake the hawk.
