Melvin returned with more papers in hand, folded neatly, when he arrived in the library looking a bit more alive than he had once they had left the portal. "Um..." He looked to the cup Jerry had been drinking and wondered if he had too much coffee or too much of something else. However, the fact that he was still willing and able was all he really needed, and he smiled. "Yes, I think I found a better location."
He headed back to the portal, where the techs gave them new pendents, and arrived back in the Weeping forest. Together, he pointed in the opposite direction they took. "There should be some spider-webbed trees over in that direction that they say on the map do pretty well. Uh, though I don't think there are spiders." He hoped. He didn't like spiders - or bugs in general.
Turning, he headed that way and saw a few trees that had some webbing on them. He stayed just close enough to them to be in the area, but sure as hell did not walk close enough in case a spider fell on him.
He did spot a portal and hoped beyond hope that it was at least better than the ones they were at before. "Okay, time to try this out."
He moved ahead and walked through a portal that was humming nearby, and returned moments later pulling off tinsel from his neck as he coughed. "This is really making it hard to see elves in the same way." He commented, rubbing his neck where he was almost strangled.

Roll 1
"God, you weren't even here when Mrs. Clause was with us. Did you know the son of Santa is a samurai? No kidding." Jerry had been chatty all the way there, mostly about nothing of any particular interest.
Maybe it was the sobriety.
Maybe it was the coffee.
Mostly it was the mission.
He was ready to blow things up and take names.
Except that he suddenly had a throng of startled looking werewolf children staring at the end of his bazooka while in the middle of a card game in their living room.
"......Awoo?" He managed.
The children snarled in outrage.
Jerry yelped and tumbled back through the portal.

Melvin was fine with Jerry talking, though he had a little overwhelmed by how much he was saying. It had to either be coffee or maybe he was, what did they call it, juiced up on something? Either way, he still seemed rather focused and that's what mattered. That and the fact his cannon was not pointed at Melvin's head, which he greatly appreciated. "Santa's Samurai Christmas.....Doesn't really sound like a Christmas special you'd seen on TV anytime soon." Though it did have a nice ring to it. Something a cheesy budget would support and he'd watch while drunk.
Jerry rushed off only to come back looking flustered. "No luck?" He asked, but guessed he'd be smiling if they hit Enchanted Land gold.
He tried his own portal and happened in a black marble room where a vampire was in a shop, inspecting several fang dentures and trying them on as a balding, hunched goblin gave hums of approval.
The vampire looked at Melvin and smiled. "Mind if I test them?" He asked the goblin, who grinned.
Melvin was back in the woods, breathing deep. "Okay, that was defiantly not the place to go." Vampire dentures, really?

"No just er... wait maybe..." He poked his head into another portal hopefully.
"THAT'S HIM, DADDY! THE HORRIBLE CREATURE!"
Apparently in werewolf houses, a broom was not the worse someone had to worry about. He scrambled back again with a yelp as a nasty set of fangs just barely clipped his chin.
"You.... try the next one. I'm gonna'... sit down for a moment, aahahaha..."

"Okay, you just...take a break." He went over and tried a portal that wasn't snapping. The second he saw snow, his stomach dropped. The moment he saw a group of cigar-smoking gingerbread men hitting a candy-cane club against their cookie hands and cracking cookie fists, his stomach was down in his shoes.
Moments later he was back with Jerry, holding a cookie piece that had once been a arm. He dropped it when it started to twitch. "Okay, there are still Chrsitmas portals here." He pointed out, watching the cookie hand crawl on the ground.

"Just... gotta' keep looking, is all!" He replied, stepping into a portal only to spot snow. Great. Well, Melvin had warned him- "Merry- er-"
Apparently, somewhere in an alcove of Christmas was a sad, desolate, candle-lit street of Chanukah, huddling against the outer skirts of red and white candy-striped cheer.
Jerry depressed himself and backed away slowly without so much as a chocolate coin.

Jerry looked a bit depressed after he returned and Melvin paused on his way to another portal to look at him. To go from very excited to looking that glum had him worried for a brief moment. Was he crashing from whatever high he was having? The Lifer hoped not.
"How about you take another breather."
He went to another portal and walked back out minutes later holder a balloon brain. His hands were shaking as he looked up at Jerry, wide-eyed. "There are clown villages. Did...did you know this?" Melvin was very disturbed.

Jerry stared up at the brain, his expression suddenly contorting into a fresh smile, "I don't mind clowns!" Clowns he could deal with.
There were no balloons for him on the other side of the portal. Just a lot of peppermint ninja stars.
Drat.
"We're never going to find this place." He groaned, plucking one out of his shoulder with a grunt.

"Well we're not going to find it right away. I never expected to. Wouldn't be a great island if anyone could visit. It's an Enchanted Island. I'm sure it's going to have some sort of magic that is a lot more secure and random then someone's living room." He made red X's on the maps he brought to show where they tried. "This place is pretty big too." He told him, folding the maps and looking at his shoulder. "You okay?" Jerry didn't seem hurt when he took the star out, though Melvin wondered if holiday peppermint could transmit holiday diseases.
"But just think, if we get there, you can tell all the other Suns about it." He hoped that would keep him interested before he headed to another portal and was introduced to the very ninjas Jerry just met. He jumped back out and stepped back slowly. "I have to wonder what Christmas is up to to be packing that much security." Maybe the toys were just that valuable.

Roll 5:
"True..." He mused, taking a deep breath. The headache was coming on. Overtaking the caffeine. "As for Holiday folks in general... they're all pretty crazy."
Another deep breath. Just a couple more and they'd come up for some proper air. He leaned into the next portal warily.
"NOPE NOPE NOPE," He pulled back sharply, his face having been viciously slathered in clown paint. "I found your clowns, though." His deadpan expression was lost under the bright red smile.
Hearts were painted on his glasses.

Melvin quickly turned away, reaching into his pocket and taking out a packet of hand wipes. "..h..here." He offered, lifting up the packet of wipes to gesture at his face. His other hand was covering his mouth. "Your face." Letting Jerry take the packet, he decided to - go for some air. "I'm going to check over here." He managed to say before swiftly rushing over to the next portal and laughing out loud on the other side.
He paid for his outburst with a set of spider women trying to drag him up into their webs.
Screaming, he jumped out and raced by before hiding behind a nearby tree, panting and holding his heart. Okay. Okay. He....he probably needed a break soon. Yeah. Break.
Melvin did not just whimper.

"You alright?" Jerry had managed to use the wipes to clean off his lenses, but unfortunately, the next portal had lead into a halloween hairdresser.
He definitely needed to go back and clean up.

"I'm good. Just....um, blood-thirsty werewolves." Not spiders. He didn't want to point out his crippling fear of bugs just yet. "How about we take a break." A bit longer break than before. Melvin needed to take a breather.
They exited the woods and returned back to base. "I'll text you later if you are still willing to try another time today." Despite it only being a short time, this searching and researching quickly worn you down.
He left Jerry to do what he liked and went back to his room just to breath and take a short, brief nap. He needed a rest a moment before he woke up shortly after and went back to the labs. This time, he asked a few of the techs if they went researching in the woods, and most either didn't have time to talk to him or just hadn't bothered to go that far for such a random area. There were many fields of study that asking any tech at random could make them scoff at your specific field of research as if it was laughable and their own field was far more important to the overall cause.
Huffing, he left and got some coffee and a cookie before he went off and checked some other research on how the Weeping Woods worked and flow of fear in regards to geography. It was interesting, but there were, like all things, various theories. That fear moved in currents, in whirlpool motions, like a gas, or like clusters.
He decided to go with the swirling whirlpool theory and later texted Jerry to meet back at the portal when he was up for it. When he got a text back, he met up with the Sun and headed back out.
"Alright, how about we just shoot straight in at the heart then at the edge?" That was his plan. That the further in the woods you went, the higher chance you got in getting to the most guarded portals.
The first portal he saw he decided to try out and checked it to find a pawn shop where a Doll Man was asking for a replacement leg, and was whistling as he inspected a lady's leg on his person. It did not match next to his knobby other leg, but it was rather sexy - for a fake leg.
Melvin just gestured. "I'll...come back later." He turned and walked back. "Um...well it was just the first one after all."
