That is one of my biggest pet peeves ever and they drive me insane . Isn't that what editors do for a living?

I usually find a lot of typos in books. Especially really thick and recent books. Also if it's a series, and a sample of the next book is at the end there are typos in that.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban there is a part where it mentions Snape but his name is misspelled as Snap.

I used to have a teacher who if you found a typo, you were supposed to raise your hand and interupt the class to say so. I'm not sure why, but I found a bunch that year=)

The entire Warriors series (you know the books about cats living in the wild?) has so many typos! xd
It made me laugh. I still like the books though. 3nodding

I find typos all the time, but the most I found in one book was in my history textbook that had 15+.

I hate it when I'm reading a book and I see a typo! It's such a distraction. I do understand though. In the rush of inspiration you get swept up in the story and you make mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. I just don't see the point in paying an editor if they aren't going to edit.

The worst typo I've ever encountered had a few lines being repeated, but all the other ones are like, commas and periods where they aren't supposed to be. When there is something involving the letters, unless it's really horrific, my brain usually corrects it and I don't notice.

I read The Affinity Bridge by George Mann recently, and he kept writing "It comprised of blah blah" instead of "it comprised blah blah". Drove me crazy. People who make a living from writing should know better. Even more so their editors, who make a living from correcting this stuff. >_< *shakes fist*

They don't usually bother me. In fact, often the amuse me. My favorite is my really old French-German dictionary, which lists water as an entry instead of eau. I got the book free, though, so no complaining here. Vardent I found typos in a Count of Monte Cristo book a few years ago Not related, but the translation of the Count of Monte Cristo that I read rather awkwardly tried to use words with French roots. I assume it was to stay closer to the original, but it just ended up sounding weird.

I actually never noticed any typos before today. When I was reading I found a grammatical error. It was the first time I've ever came across a typo in a book and I found it rather odd. But I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought.
