Chinsana LV. 2 Hp: 16 Cp: 18 MHp: 8 Pakku took a moment to move himself around, and get used to moving with the dummy attached to him. Needless to say, it was akward, which was to be expected. Looking on the the various obstacles that awaited him, he let out a low sigh. Then he saw something moving near the end. "Don't tell me I have to fight something with this on do I..." He said in slight despair. Then something strange happened, the figure barked. It was then that he noticed that Chisana was gone... Somehow the small dog had found her way across all of the obstacles. Not to be undone Pakku set about crossing the threshold. First up was a long path of coals. He couldn't rush it, so he had to move slowly, lest his dummy companion catch on fire.

Chinsana LV. 2 Hp: 16 Cp: 18 MHp: 8 "Chisana, please be careful over there!" Pakku called out as he continued his painfully slow prgress across the coals. Not that it was actually that painful, to either him or the puppet. Because if that he was rather happy so far, though there had been a close call. When he had called out to Chisana his focus had slipped slightly, almost causing the dummy's 'foot' to fall right onto the coals. Somehow he'd managed to keep that from happening, it was too close for much comfort though.

Amaya’s connection was met with the crumpling of the puppet and not a moment too soon. The clattering wood was a comforting sound as the clothing also fell to the ground. Would she get in trouble if she tore the dresses up and used them for bandages? She did have a couple of nasty gashes and she wanted to close them off, but she didn’t carry any medical supplies with her. That’ll teach her. However, before the black haired Academy student could act on this thought she was distracted by the fluttering of thick paper tickets coming down from the ceiling. So there were people running everything. Who was she kidding? Of course there were people; puppets didn’t run around on their own. Blasted puppets.
The child gathered up her small prize with contentment, though her arm did hurt when the muscles flexed when she moved. And leg! Ah! What had she gotten herself into?! However, all of this happened deep down in the girl’s mind. She wasn’t about to let the puppet masters, or whatever they were, have that sort of satisfaction. However, she couldn’t risk being jumped in the next room, so she would wait in that room where she knew there was nothing else that would jump out at her and she had no idea what lay beyond the door at the other end of the room.
However! Before she could sit and rest there was a matter of the scavenger hunt. The girl’s dark black eyes scanned the room until she saw it. There, underneath the hem of the pink dummy’s dress was a packet of muffin mix. The child brought it out of the remnants and placed it in the sack that she had attached to one of her belt loops. Then, with a pen, she put a line through the item on her list. One down, seventeen to go. It was obvious that she was expected to wander around aimlessly for a little while if she was going to find everything on the list, but this seemed like it would be fun is she didn’t run into more puppet. Damn puppets.

Amaya resolved that the cloth was hers to do with as she pleased. After all, the puppets were destroyed so they didn’t exactly need their dresses. Plus, maybe the girl could wear one in order to hide her now torn and bloody clothes. Sure, that would raise suspicion, but…never mind, she would figure something else out.
With a sigh, the girl leaned against the wall nearest her intended door and slid down to the ground. Now she began to pick out all the little slivers from the cloth that had been lodged upon the puppets destruction. Normally the Keiji didn’t have an issue with puppets, but now she found that there was a distinct hatred for the inanimate objects. Wary, she kept an eye on the two motionless piles of wood.
The girl had taken quite the beating and resolved to just sit there and rest. Hopefully the rooms didn’t become much more difficult because if they did someone would be carrying her out on a stretcher. Not only would Akeru have a complete panic attack at the sight, but she would never be viewed the same by her teammates and she would never be allowed outside of the house again. Well, if she was confined to her house then she wouldn’t have to worry about being harshly judged by her teammates. Would they baby her? Strike that; it didn’t matter because it wasn’t going to happen. She was a strong child and she was going to find her way through this accursed house if it was the last thing she did.
At the rate she was going it could very well be the last thing she ever did.

Soon though the downside of the standard shinobi footwear, that of open-toed and heeled shoes, became aparant. First he had stepped a little too hard on a set of coals, then he leaned too far back to to get the coals off his toe, and finally he lost balance. Falling to his right, the dummy went right into the fire. "Crap!" Pakku yelled as he stood up as quickly as possible, and patted at the fire. "Stop, go out!" He yelled, as if ordering it would cause it to obey him and go out.

The child’s hands worked calmly and steadily as she removed the shattered splinters of puppet from the two dresses that rested on her lap. With a challenge as difficult as that one had been she figured that the spoils of battle were her to claim. She wasn’t going to try and loose the four blades from the dummies, but that was only because she didn’t have a place to store them or a desire to carry them through who knows what as she continued on through the Mad House. There was always a need for blades, metals, and weapons. In all actuality, she wanted to take at least one to contribute to a weapon of her own design, but that would take a considerable amount of time. Maybe that would be her knew thing: she would claim a weapon from each defeated enemy to contribute to her design. Then again, that could weigh her down considerably in transit. It would only be from enemies that mattered.
Amaya paused in her work as her thoughts wandered. Slowly, her smile grew and her eyes softened as she resumed the minor task at hand. That was it, she could use the cloth from these two dresses as wraps for the weapon’s handle. Now wasn’t she a clever one? The black haired Keiji child was proud of her little creative spark. She was only going to use the cloth from the blue dummy because it was the only one she really fought. The one dressed in pink had been defeated in a single blow before it could do any damage to the girl. Then again, forcing her attention had left her open to being hit by the blue dummy. So, in a sense the pink dummy had done damage to her.
That first hit still rung in the child’s mind. It had been so perfectly timed and wonderfully placed. She was going to have to work hard to make every hit like that one. It was of the utmost importance that she learn to strike perfectly each and every time. That would come with time, but it was nice to have a goal to work towards. After all, a specific goal provided extra motivation and drive; though Amaya wasn’t in need of more motivation. She had done so much training on her own, but she still wasn’t the top of her class. If only she had gotten to start with the earlier students. No matter, she was just going to keep pushing and working towards that point. That was the only solution.

Flat black locks of hair were tossed back and forth as the girl tried to focus back in at the task at hand. She found it difficult to pay attention to such a tedious task, but so was the nature of a child. Amaya had been just fine when she was cleaning with Akeru, seeking those little droplets of blood throughout the Academy. However, during that little test not only did she have someone to talk with and to work with, but she was also teaching him how to clean. How was it that a grown, more or less, man didn’t know how to clean? It was probably part of being the main branch of the Uchiha clan. Had he said something along those lines and her memory was just fading? No matter.
The Keiji girl sighed as she silently cursed the puppets for splintering so.
Blasted puppets with their blasted blades and that blasted clacking noise made by those blasted puppeteers.
Okay, so she wasn’t very good at it, but normal people would be swearing at them for cutting them up, instead the child was just annoyed with the busy work the fight had created. However, given her current state it was an inevitable task if she wanted to tend to her wounds.
Is someone watching me?
The thought was sudden and somewhat startling as the child eyed the room. There had to of been someone controlling the two puppets, potentially multiple someones. Were they just sitting there waiting for their next victim and watching her lick her wounds? Were there more puppets waiting for their next victim? Would the two that she had just smashed suddenly regenerate and enter the fray once again? It that was the case then Amaya didn’t want to be anywhere near this room. However, she had to allow herself to rest and she needed to patch up her wounds before she moved onto the next room for fear of being faced with another battle and not being able to hold out.
With loose hands, the child held up the pink dress that she had been picking splinters from. By the looks of it she had gotten them all out and, thusly, the cloth could be used as bandaging. Amaya was thankful that there was something for her to use since there were three hits that had done considerable damage. Withdrawing a kunai, the girl made a slit in the fabric before tearing it by hand; flinching as fiery pain surged through her right arm at the effort.
Three strips of fabric lay across Amaya’s legs once she was done tearing. There was still plenty of dress left, so she planned on keeping it for future use, just in case the occasion arose.
First, the child wrapped a strip of cloth around the cut on her right forearm, which wasn’t nearly as severe as the other two wounds. Using her teeth and her left hand, the child tied a firm knot over the top of the cut so that some focused pressure would be applied. Then she repeated the process with the gash on her right shoulder and her lower left leg under her pant leg. Amaya couldn’t help but give a satisfied smile at her work. Sure, it wasn’t eseinin grade, but it was good enough for an Academy student.

Amaya checked the knots on her new arm bandages, twisting and bending her arm every which way to make sure that they would stay intact as she moved around the Mad House. While the strips of cloth were holding well enough as is, the child was a little worried about their integrity as she moved from room to room. There was no telling what awaited her beyond the next door and the next, much less if she managed to find her way up to another level. What if each room was rising as she entered it? No, it wouldn’t be that kind to her. Plus, there were eighteen items on her check list, one of which was now in her pouch for safe keeping.
Curious and trying to kill time, the black haired child withdrew her checklist from its hidden location in her pouch and scanned it carefully.
I have one, which means I have seventeen more to search for. That means that I have to go into at least seventeen more rooms. However, chances of me finding an item in every room, not matter whether or not there is an item, is not in my favor and I can’t be spending too much time searching the room top to bottom. If it wasn’t for how much energy that fight took from me I would be beyond the door already. But I can’t risk there being another fight on the other side. If there is and I got in there then I wouldn’t stand a chance. Those puppets were quite strong.
Will they really have all fighting rooms? The man said that they would be testing our skill, but that can be so much more than fighting. Maybe there are rooms that do focus on a single skill and not just the conglomerate of abilities. Well, for my first fight against someone other than my teammate I have to hand it to myself; that wasn’t too bad. I would rather not do that again, but it wasn’t too bad at all.
Ow! Alright, I shouldn’t be twisting my arm that way. Blasted bladed dolls. Who does that?! Well…other than the people who run the Mad House. Will I meet one of them out in the field? Assuming that I ever get to the field, that is. I really should stop worrying about that. I am only an Academy student, after all. It is going to take time before I get sent out to do something for the good of the village. But when that day comes, I’ll be ready. Unlike I was today…I really was not ready for that puppet. Had I known I was going to be attacked I would have packed a few medical supplies. Then again, I suppose I should always be carrying those around.
The child remained sitting against the wall, her head tilted back so that she was facing the ceiling. However, her eyes had closed as she allowed herself to wander in her mind. This was such a splendid opportunity, but it was also going to prove very difficult, she could see.

Chinsana LV. 3 Experience: 125/200 Hp: 24 Cp: 30 MHp: 27 With near disaster avoided Pakku took a moment to recollect himself. He didn't have much longer to go when it came to the coals, then again all he had to look forward to after was barbed wire, and who knew what else. Letting out a slight sigh Pakku grabbed the dummy, held it close, and set out. He was going to get through this challenge, tickets or no tickets. Before he knew it he had reached the end of the burning coals, and he gave a sigh of relief. "Part one done, only two more to go."
Roll (10) + Ath (1) = 11 vs 11 Successes: 3/10 Failures: 1
Quote: In these long hallways the ultimate goal is to simply get to the other side. Too bad it really isn't that easy. Once again, yuo can't wait for another shinobi to show up to partner up and run the race. No... a leg, an arm, and half your body is bound to that of a heavy, life-sized scarecrow. To top it off, you have to lug it all the way to the end... and avoid every obstacle in your way, whether it's flying kunai, or hot coals. Top priority is getting your "partner" to the other side without a scratch. Any damage results in a loss of tickets. DC: 10+1=11 Roll: 1d20+athletics Successes: 10/10 Special: Every failed roll cuts, burns, etc. your "partner" It only has 10 HP. Once it hit's 0, you must start the race over. (Restarting give a chance to earn 5 tickets, but each failed roll reduces it by 1, like with the previous race, though the scarecrow still has 10 HP. More than one restart results in earning no tickets.) Ticket: 10 -1 per failed roll to min of 0

With her eyes still closed, Amaya started to wonder how long it was going to take for her to recover. She had taken some hard hits and it had taken a lot of energy out of her even though she was the victor. The child couldn’t help but wonder if this was a small glimpse into the world before her. Was every challenge going to be that entirely taxing? Was it really going to be a contest that came down to the final blow? Had she been hit by the puppet one more time there was no hope of her standing up from in of her own power. It was a concerning concept, but she also knew that through trials came strength and she would walk away from this accursed Mad House far stronger than she had entered. That is, if she ever got out of that room.
It was amusing that she was only through the first room, not even all the way through it considering that there was still the matter of choosing what door to take, and she was already beginning to condemn the house in her mind. Had she suspected the extreme of the trials that lay ahead of her she may have waited for her classmates and for Akeru. He must be panicking right about now. But Amaya had been all too willing to be drug along with Sakura and to be whisked away to a new adventure. Now all the child could see in her mind’s eye was a very cross Akeru for two reasons: her running off with Sakura without supervision and the numerous cuts on her arm and leg. There was nothing good that could come of the situation.
For a brief moment, the child almost wished that there was a medic on standby for participants that had been beat as ruthlessly as she had been. Then again, she wasn’t sure that she would want the help. Even though it was only one room she was learning so much. Hopefully the other rooms wouldn’t be this difficult though.
Amaya allowed the cool of the wall and the floor to seep into her body, calming the fiery cuts and bringing her excited temperature back down to where it should be. If only she wasn’t so excitable. Oh well, it was no matter and it really had no effect on her. The child folded up the dress that lay in her lap without looking at it in order to keep it off of the floor.

The black hair girl fought off yet another sigh as she continued to sit motionlessly on the floor of the Mad House. She was tired and her right arm and left leg burned fiercely from the wounds that had been inflicted upon them. Would she need stitches? That wouldn’t go over very well with her parents. Or Akeru. Or her brothers. Oh! The little rats would target her wounds if they found out. She loved her brothers to death, but they were evil little buggers. No matter, that was a concern that would rear its ugly head once again after she got back. Until then it wasn’t something that she should be wasting her time on.
As boredom started to take a hold, Amaya allowed herself to forget where she was. A lullaby ran through her head, one that her mother liked to sing to scare them on Halloween, and soon she was humming along. It was low and quiet, but the black haired Keiji really didn’t care if anyone could hear her. As far as she was concerned her audience was the two demolished puppets and their master. Masters? How many people was she fighting?
Her humming stopped as quickly as it started as she went back to a topic that had already been visited too many times already. Was it one person or two who had been attacking her? Who was it that came up with the idea to have someone walk into a dark room and then throw puppets at them? That was just rude. Why was there more than one puppet? True, the one that attacked her head on really didn’t get a chance to fight her, but it had opened opportunity for the second puppet to get in a very good hit. One that still stung.
Before this fight Amaya really didn’t have an opinion on puppets. Sure, she thought they were a bit creepy, but now she despised them. Their infernal clacking and all the hoopla they made when coming through. They were evil and they could hide weapons in places that a normal person couldn’t. Was her father able to implant blades in her forearms? That would be cool and yet highly disturbing. She would have to ask when she got home. Then again, if she asked her dad he would ask what brought the question about. She had plenty of time to think of a back story. Yes, a good, believable lie.

What kind of festival person deals with swords? A juggler? A sword swallower? A magician? Yes! A magician! Natural at a festival where shinobi are to attend they would want some sort of act that they would be able to relate to or something that they would be interested in. Swords are interesting, right? Shinobi deal with weapons and swords, so it makes sense. No, not really.
Perhaps I could claim that I saw a shinobi from another village with such a thing. They had these thin sheaths under their skin that made it bulge out slightly but they were able to withdraw it from arms and…I don’t know.
Maybe there was some legend that we were told about this man who had swords for arms and tried to destroy the world only to be stopped by a woman that looked past the hideous limbs! No, that wouldn’t do. Father knows just about every legend there is to know, I’m sure.
This time the child didn’t fight the sigh that rose to her lips. She was usually a decent liar, but this was an odd circumstance. To top it off, if her father saw her arm then he would know that something was up. Blast it all.
How about I tell him that there was a puppet master that was demonstrating for the bystanders and I stopped to watch. Now, me being as curious and creative as I am, was simply wondering if that was possible for living, breathing humans and not just hunks of wood. I would only be lying about where I saw it instead of the entire coming about of the question. That might be safer than trying to fabricate the whole thing.
At that the child couldn’t help but smile since she had heard her mother use the word “fabricate” just a few days ago and she had finally found a way to implement it. To top it off, she now had a way to ask her father a question of questionable origin.
Hehe, questionable question.
At least when caught in the confines of her own mind the child was able to amuse herself greatly. Even when there was nothing to do in the physical world there was always something inside her head that always allowed her to think or to dream. To do something beyond the limitations of day to day life.

The child’s mind continued to dart to and fro, back tracking on itself to yet another point of curiosity.
Wait…there was a person controlling the puppet. But puppets are controlled with strings. If the puppet was being controlled by strings why was I not tangled up?
Well, if the person was using strings then their opponent would just have to cut the strings to sever the puppet from the master and render it useless. Could it have been metal wire?
No, if it had been metal wire then I still would have gotten tangled.
What if they were controlling the puppet from the ceiling, up above me. Then I wouldn’t have gotten tangled up in the wire or the strings. That makes sense.
Then again, that doesn’t make sense on the battlefield because you can’t necessarily get above the opponent, much less for an extended period of time.
At that, the child rose to do some investigating. She walked over to Rock and sat before the splintered pieces. Amaya picked up the remnant of one of the arms and began to inspect it. The black hair girl held it gingerly for fear of that accursed blade attacking her. She twisted it every which way, but she couldn’t find an origin for a string.
With what little strength she had, the child started bending the broken wood to peer within the folds of the puppets joints. Perhaps they attached the string there?
It didn’t take long for Amaya to give up on the arm. There were no points for a string or wire to attach to and there was no string or wire just lying around after she shattered the puppet. Those damned puppets.
Still sitting there, the child crossed her arms and furrowed her eyebrows with thought, which looked particularly odd since that little smile of hers still remained on her face. Well, it looked more like a smirk under the circumstances.
So, there are no strings and no wires. How do they do this?!
For something she was learning to despise she was quite curious.
Chakra would be the next assumption, but that seems almost farfetched. Can something that isn’t physical manipulate something physical like a puppet? Then again, I really don’t understand chakra all that well still. However, I do know that it is an energy. How would chakra attach itself to a puppet? A wooden being. This, I do not understand. Why do you work?!

A hand slowly levitated up to a chunk of hair that hung limply off of the side of the child’s head. It twisted and twirled and tied itself within the lock before loosening itself and starting over again. Amaya continued to sit in the center of the room and stare at the puppet Rock. It wasn’t like she was imposing on anyone. She had no conscious recognition that someone was there. All she knew was that someone had been controlling the puppets and they hadn’t made themselves known. So, for all she cared, he or she or it was a phantom; someone that didn’t really matter to her at that point in time.
Finally growing bored with sitting and thinking, as a child might well become, Amaya swept the splintered wood into a pile with her forearm and began building with them. Sure, they weren’t very good blocks, but since she was older they provided an amusing challenge. This one could lean against that one and that little space between those ones was just perfect to stand this one straight up. It quickly became a game to see just how high she could stack the pieces.
Stack, stack, stack, clatter. There was a gentle little melody being played in the empty room as the girl built until it fell and then began again. She always tried something different than the time before to see if it would work better for her. Some did while some attempts were disastrous, relatively speaking. There wasn’t much disastrous chaos that could be caused by falling splinters. Well, aside from lodging a splinter under the skin. That was always a disaster.
With nothing else to do, Amaya started stacking for height. Taller and taller the splinters grew until they all leveled themselves out with a poorly placed piece weighing them all down. Clatter. Each time it happened the child would use her forearm to gather everything back into one massive pile before trying again. She was going to get them all to stack at once and that was that.
Set a base. Now one up. Two up. Three. Maybe something a bit sturdier to balance the higher pieces on. Clatter. Oh, the joys of being a child! Most adults would become frustrated, maybe even infuriated, at a task such as this one. However, a child saw it as a game. A challenge. Something that kept their young minds moving, bending, molding to the task. Adults were too set in their ways to focus on something like this for too long.
