"No, no. Of course not." Why should she read too much into it? He'd already made his stance on the two of them perfectly clear, and there were other things to think about besides him.
When the boil started to ramble, the feline sighed and peered out the window. How the buildings went by, and became the past themselves. "If only indeed." Riyo knew full well that she would never be rid of the burden. The past would always be there. Not that... It was always a bad thing. Riyo wouldn't be the person she was without it.
For all that was worth...
The drive wasn't long. Too long to be taken on foot, but not bad in a taxi. They turned into a long incline of a driveway that lead to a house on a hill. Decorative, unkempt bushes. No trees. Long grass as if the groundskeeper had long abandoned the property. Riyo grew quiet as she stared at the intimidating figure of gothic architecture.
"Here we are. That'll be 35 seeds." The froggy cab driver pulled directly in front of the door, reaching back to receive his payment. The cat ghoul just... Dumped a load of silver seeds on his hand. "Keep the change..."
Like a zombie, she stepped out with the gas can and stared, eyes following little visions of the past. Where she had played, bumped her knees, climbed the side of the house.
The sound of her mother's car pulling up.
Riyo tucked the bat under her arm to reach in her coat pocket, retrieving a skeleton key for the ornate wood door and antique lock. Her hands shook as they usually did when she came home.

Titus would probably be glad later the taxi drive was semi short. The silence that led up to the point of them getting out of the cab was uncomfortable but as they pulled into the driveway he eyed the large structure that was Riyo's home with curiosity. Titus got out as soon as the cab stopped and stretched his legs peering up at manor to get a good feel for it. It looked like it hadn't been tended to in a while but it still held onto its rather impressive gothic decor. Perhaps the unkempt bushes added to the visual. " Quite the place," Titus commented, strolling up to the door behind Riyo swinging the crowbar at his side. He only seemed to realize her state when they drew closer and she fumbled for the skeleton key and drew it out with a shaky hand. " What....are you expecting someone to be home?"

Riyo finally managed to insert the key when Titus spoke out. "No.. It's just a habit." The feline mumbled, turning the key and practically shoving open the door.
It was so quiet.
The air was stagnant, with a brief smell of pine from the last time the floor had been cleaned. Truly the house was beautiful with it's sharp architecture and carefully placed arches, but... It didn't feel like a house. Everything was so formal. Nothing truly appeared lived in. It was like a display, and nothing more. The first room was the den, equipped with a lovely (barely used) fireplace, and to the right was a set of stairs that led up to all the rooms. Through the left door was the kitchen and dining room, through the right, a music room and other odds and ends you'd expect at a big hoity toity mansion.
Riyo didn't pause at the den, though. The most important fish to fry was upstairs, and she marched herself right up there with gas can in hand. The door with her mother's initials carved into the wood. The one she'd had so many nightmares about. All this time, she'd never dared to go in. Whelp. Today was the day. It had been locked, and the skeleton key thrown somewhere so she'd never have to find it. So the only way in... Was to beat the door down.

Titus shrugged at that. Seemed like a personal problem and really the demon wasn't about to get into a touchy feelly conversation.
As she opened the door the nightmare demon followed Riyo inside scoping out the architecture. It felt more like a museum than a home. The 'don't touch anything' vibe was loud and clear which meant Titus was going to enjoy seeing everything present smashed and burned.
He was just about to set to work but Riyo seemed to have something else in mind. She strolled off through the expansive home and up the stairs and out of sight. Too curious for his own good Titus followed his long strides closing the distance fairly quickly. That wasn't to say he didn't knock over a lamp or two along the way.
When Riyo finally came to a pause outside a door that need to ask was just burning at the tip of his tongue. "So what's in there? The dungeon?" Never mind that a dungeon would be better suited in the basement.

"It's her room." Riyo said inbetween hits, finally making a big enough crack to reach through and unlock the knob. "You might as well consider it a dungeon." Behind the door was a madwoman's room. Which... Looked surprisingly conservative. Some of the wallpaper drooped from the trapped humidity, and cobwebs gathered on every surface and corner. It was obvious nobody had been in the room for a long, long time.
Riyo's ears folded back as she stood in the doorway, hesitantly taking a first step in. This had been off limits to her. It sort of felt like she was going against every instinct that kept her safe.
Nothing happened when she entered, of course. It was just a room. Just a lonely room whose owner was long gone from this world. Curiously, the feline started to snoop around, peeking through drawers and opening the walk in closet. Looked like her mother had a much bigger variety in clothes. Dresses, skirts, skimpy tops, more work-oriented outfits. Mildly surprising, since Riyo had only ever seen her in work attire.
"I wonder if she hid anything up here."

" Her room? Oh, mummy dearest?" Titus asked with a smile. He was sort of amused to hear it was like a dungeon but was a little underwhelmed by the whole thing when the door was finally busted open. It looked like a regular room to him just...dusty as hell. Did they not have a maid? " Looks rather boring to me." He stepped in after Riyo and drew his finger across a shelf making a face at the inch of dust he managed to draw through. " And probably hazardous to your health." Rubbing his fingers together to rid them of the dust he took to moving things around rather clumsily with the crowbar not caring if they fell over or broke. " Why you want a keepsake for your adventure? Or do you think mommy was hiding something good?" Maybe, just maybe, this had turned into a treasure hunt. Titus would be up for that.
