Eilaer's smile turned into a grin when Echo pointed out she was only trying to tease the bard. "Just a case of not reading one another so well then. No harm done, hn?" There was no need for apologies, they had both made the same mistake after all. That sort of understanding came with time and shared company. Hopefully there was plenty of both to be found for a good long while at least.

"Indeed." At least there was no harm done. But still, the goddess could not help but worry, just the slightest bit. She used to be much better at reading and understanding others than this - this was the kind of mistep she might have poked fun of Ankou for.
Perhaps it had, indeed, been too long. Perhaps her son had taken the right path by leaving, before this large set of room could become his cage. A glided cage, yes, but a cage nonetheless.
But what could she do ? Where could she go ? And what if he...
There were too many questions, and not enough answers. The goddess was unable to bite back her sigh.

Eilaer's head tilted a bit when Echo sighed. "What is it, my lovely songbird?" She reached out to touch the goddess' hand lightly, thumb running along the side of it in a comforting manner. "Tell me what troubles you...maybe I can help?" Even if she was not able to do much the bard would still try her best- Echo deserved that and more.

Where to even start ? Should she, even ? It was the same old game, again and again. Some days were better than others, some days she could swear she had figured things out, but then the next her feelings seemed to have shifted completely.
There was too much of him here, and some days she could swear it was driving her mad. "A forgotten songbird in a glided cage, Eilaer." She shook her head. "A glided cage, perhaps... But a cage nonetheless. The door is open, and yet I remain here... and I wait."
Because yet, deep down, she still refused to give up. She still loved Underworld, and refused to give up just yet. But how long was she supposed to wait ?
It was as Xun Jiang had said. Only she knew this for sure. "A silly songbird not quite ready to give up on something that might be gone forever."

"It is love that keeps you here, then?" It wasn't a question, not really. Love always makes people do all kinds of illogical things- the bard had seen that often enough and been party to the madness of it on occasion. She could only hope the one that Echo stayed for was worthy of such devotion. It was an unfortunate situation, but Music was not the one the one to blame for it- she had simply followed her heart and kept on loving whoever it was. There was no fault in that.
"Would the songbird like to leave the cage, for just a little while, and stretch her wings?" It might do her some good to be elsewhere for a while. Surely that special person would be able to find her, if they returned while she was gone? Eilaer was not suggesting she give up at all, just get out and refresh herself. Even if she was waiting she still deserved to thrive in the meantime- that person would probably want that, rather than her being here sulking, sad and unsure.

Of course the bard would guess. "What else would it be ?" It seemed like Eilaer knew exactly how that felt - perhaps she had once loved and... lost, as well.
"It might do me some good." Echo admitted. There was no shortage of places to go - it was her own will and stubbornness that kept her rooted here, and she knew it. Which only made it worse, in it's own way. "But my sons... I should stay until one of them return, at the very least."

Eilaer had experienced it in a way- romance was difficult with her condition. It made anything more than short term romances practically impossible- others just did not understand it, or were not willing to accept both sides of her. Which was why she had not sought another companion in years- for the most part it was tolerable, but it made the road seem very long and lonely at times.
The bard smiled when Echo admitted it might do her some good, nodding when she mentioned about waiting for her son. That made sense, it would give her one less to fret about when she was away. "I had planned to go home for a time. It is not so grand an adventure, but you are welcome to come with me if you would like?" If she was interested they could leave whenever Music was ready to. There was no rush on that front.

"I would certainly want to see where you were born." The bard had known of her, after all. Or, at least, a version of her, a facet of her. She had to have learnt that knowledge from somewhere - which meant that there were likely others, like her, who knew of her. And Music would definitively like to know of them, learn their songs, be their voices, and know their stories.
"Hopefully it is soon. I am sorry... There are simply days that are better than others."
