Courath: Move

Courath's screams turned to creels of agony as Agrisk let go of her, ichor pouring fresh from her wounds. She flared her wings as the strike connected, tearing the membrane and snapping the tip of one of the 'fingers'. Her eyes whirled grey and white, the red completely drained from them. She tried to limp away from the wher, desperate to get to her rider and get away from there.

Dizzian: Move

Her head rocked back, slamming against the ground behind her as his fist slammed into her face. She gasped as suddenly her mouth was filled with blood, her cheekbone throbbing from the impact and her nose broken. She rolled over beneath him, coughing as her blood flowed freely. She couldn't fight any longer, they were too strong. She dragged herself towards Courath, reaching an arm towards the distressed hatchling. ~ Courath! ~

Agrisk, Attacking Courath

Hey! Get back here! This big wasn't dead yet, he wasn't finished! Grumbling his annoyance at the baby dragon's attempt to escape him, he chomped at her tail to try and stop her from leaving before he was done. Until she stopped moving, he wouldn't stop attacking.

Agrin, Attacking Dizzian

It was entirely possible that the pair was...overdoing things. An adult wher chewing on a baby dragon, and his old handler trying to beat up her rider, was admittedly excessive. But they were in the middle of a war, and war wasn't fair - though she was borderline-helpless now in the face of a bloodthirsty old bronze, once full-grown, the green dragon had the potential to be a true enemy. Maybe it was cruel, but better that they snuff her out now before she had a chance to become a real threat.

"Told you y'shouldn' be here," Agrin panted, looking almost regretful, before striking at the young rider one more time.

Dizzian & Courath: Defeated

Dizzian had made it to her knees, no longer dragging herself but crawling to Courath's side. She just managing to craddle the little green's head in her hands and look up into the face of the bronze wher before Agrin's blow took her in the ribs, knocking the wind out of her with a sickening crack. It was all too much for her body and she lost consciousness, her breath coming in shallow painful gasps.

Courath collapsed beside her rider, the last vicious bite pulling her to the ground. The blood loss from the massive wound in her side and her mangled wing took it's toll and she joined her rider in oblivion, head still cradled in Dizzian's hands. Whatever happened, they would be together.

Agrin and Agrisk, Victorious!

Dead! Agrisk declared happily when the little big collapsed, finally and abruptly leaving her be. Now that the green wasn't moving - and therefore, so far as the wher knew, dead - she was considerably less interesting. His eyes whirled a happy blue-green as he went to bump his handler with his snout. Agrisk good, fight! Agrin good!

The other human was on the ground and not moving, just like the big, so clearly things had gone just as well for Agrin, right?

The man grunted, and grabbed onto his wher to help pull himself up. The girl was still alive, but her dragon was clearly dying, he surmised. That would as good as kill the rider, and somehow that was more palatable than killing another person with his own two hands. Some would argue that it was no different, but as Agrin limped away, he dismissed any nigglings of his conscience.

They were just one more sign that he was getting too old for all this.

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Shard it all! Hekate mentally berated herself as she ran following the trail of broken twigs and footprints of her friend through the forest.

We WILL find them Mine. Do not be so harsh on yourself. It was foolish of my sister to have wandered with her's so far, but we will bring them home. Devith assured her hot on his rider's heels, the young silver's eyes whirling a bright red and yellow with his anger and stress in the dark as he scented the air trying to help his in her tracking. His words though did little to ease his rider though she did pause, pulling the rough hewn cloak around her shoulder's a little tighter as she dropped to the leafy floor when she spotted movement in the distance. Urging Devith closer she draped the cloak over her lifemate not wanting him to be spotted in the dark for his beautiful dusky hide. It looked like a handler and wher, the handler appearing to be limping.

Mine! They smell of my sister! Devith snarled, roared in his rider's mind and it was only a steadying hand on his shoulder that kept the silver from leaping forward to rend the foolish bronze limb from limb.

Later. They will pay, but first we must find our companions! They might still be alive! Hekate whispered in Devith's mind her eyes narrowing dangerously as she watched the figure of handler and wher lumber off into the distance. When she felt they were far enough away she rose picking up her pace into a run her life mate close on her heels.

Stumbling into a clearing she spotted the two and Hekate's breath caught in her throat.

SISTER! Devith howled in pain bolting past his rider to drop to his little green siblings side nuzzling her ichor stained form gently.

"Devith! Don't touch her!" Hekate snapped catching her dragon unaware as his head whirled eyes blazing with anger ready to verbally pounce on his until her saw the pain on Hekate's face. "You'll worsen the bleeding. Move to the side! We can still save her!" She explained rushing to the injured girl and dragon. A quick hand on Dizzian's neck assured the red haired woman that her friend still lived, but her dragon. . .well Courath might not be so lucky if she didn't act fast!

Ripping her cloak from her body she pressed it to the green's side wrapping it tight as she could to staunch the bleeding. "Hang in there you two. We got you." Hekate whispered soothingly patting the little green's head before she turned to Devith.

"Devith are there still patrols flying over the area?" She questioned the silver pausing lifting his head as he assessed their surroundings. Yes Mine they are still there. Devith replied already sensing his rider's thoughts. I will get them. The dark silver snarled lifting his muzzle and flaring his wings as he readied to put that massive mental voice of his to use.

"I don't care if you have to drag them out of the sky heart of Mine! Get them!" Hekate encouraged, she didn't know much about dragons, but she knew wher attacks and Courath was in bad shape, poor Dizzian was beat black and blue, but she doubted her friend would forgive her if she let her precious lifemate die.

TO ME DRAGONS OF TRINE! WE NEED AID! MY SIBLING IS INJURED!
Devith roared to the patrol, the distant startled squawk of one of the dragon's reaching Hekate's ears a blue dropped into the clearing wings spread.

Courath squeeled and Dizzian cried out in shared pain as the young dragons broken ribs were jostled by Hekate's pressure. The rider was still out cold but Courath's outer eyelids fluttered revealing dim grey and white beneath. ~ Hurts! ~ She whimpered, barely registering that it was Devith himself who addressed her and not noticing the blue dragon at all. While still alive, the two wouldn't be moving of their own volition for a long time.

Shhh sister. Shhhhh save your strength. We will get you home. Devith crooned low giving the rider, a young man who looked to be in his early twenties a wary look, but made no move to stop him as he took a knee beside Hekate helping to stabilize the young green for transport.

"It'll be ok Courath. Just hang in there a little longer." Hekate assured her friend as the weyrling and young rider worked.

"Mount. I'll hand your dragon and then the green up to you and we'll strap your friend in in front of me." The young rider explained and with no time to waste Hekate moved quickly over to the blue who lowered himself to help better accommodate her as she climbed up with the aid of the straps.

Mine I do not wish to leave my sister. Devith snarled giving the other rider pause in trying to pick him up.

"We're not leaving them." Hekate assured the silver who finally deemed to allow the bluerider to briefly pick him up and hand him into his red haired life-mates arms. Turning Hekate set Devith behind her carefully strapping the silver in as best she could since she would need both arms to keep the injured green stable.

You will be safe sister~ Devith crooned as the bluerider very carefully picked the little green wrapped in Hekate's cloak up and gently handed her into her friend's waiting arms. The action rising in Hekate a sense of nostalgia. She had done the same thing not days ago during the dragonlight demonstration only this time situations were even more grim. While I stand guard none will harm you or yours. Scooping Dizzian up without a word the bluerider mounted, his dragon taking carefully to the air as they all flickered between.
