The teen stuck another brownie in her mouth and chewed, idly watching the video out of the corner of her eye as she thought. "Well, 'member wit' the fog? Lots'a tablets then wit' all the dead hunters, lots'a fog monster things. Ah always fi'gur'd that was kinda the norm, we die an' they turn inta monsters an' terrorize everyone." She paused. "That was a joke."
A bad joke. Time to move on.
"Oh, she sings? Is her voice nice?" Ofelia was honestly interested in knowing more about Deryk's weapon, seeing as her shield had gotten to know it quite well just recently. "What did she used ta be, if Ah can ask?"
The video was all but forgotten by now.

Deryk might have paled a little at that joke. He didn't really want to think that Tooley would go on a rampage once he died. "Yeah, remember. That.. might have been because of the fog though. Those monsters we fought. Not like the Halloween folk. More.. feral. Or something. Just kinda masses of energy. Less sentient. More aggressive. From what I've seen."He could be completely wrong on that. But those were just going off of his observations. "Yeah. She's pretty good. Kinda nice really. Like always having a radio or something with me. And uh. Doppleganger. You know. Shape shifty ghost people. What was Rue?"

Oelia had never heard of a doppelganger but no real stretch there. "Ahhh, um, she's a Boo Hag. Ah think, if mah readin' was up ta date, they're monsters from the Creole myths, women-shaped things that liked ta ride people an' steal their skins." A faint snort echoed in the back of Ofelia's head and the teen wasn't sure if it was Rue approving of her partners knowledge or just Rue being an a** like usual. "Rue sings when we're fightin', but only up 'til we release a charge. Then she screams an' cackles an' carries on. Sometimes she moans an'. . . uh, yeah." Ofelia's ears turned red at the mention of moaning, not wanting to go much more into detail about that. The less said on most of the vocal actions of her partner, the better.
Another snort flooded the back of her skull, followed by an erotic moan that caused the teen to cry out. "Eeek~!" Her hands went over her mouth, her entire face now as red as her ears. "Sorry, jus' . . . .saw sommin' in the corner over there." Ofelia pointed randomly, practically in the opposite direction of where she'd been looking to begin with.
At the rate all of this was going Deryk was going to think she was crazy. Part of Ofelia wanted to believe that maybe Rue wanted that all along? Another part of her refused to believe that and ushered her onward.
"Have ya met many'a people from Halloween? Outside'a the pony people event, Ah've only met less than a handful one-on-one. S'been really kinda interestin'." She hoped a topic change would help, and then maybe back to videos. She also hoped he didn't think she was crazy by all of this, but a faint feeling in the back of her mind suggested she doubted it.

Deryk hadn't heard of a boo hag before, but it sounded creepy to say in the least. Stealing peoples' skins? Yikes! He might have to try and dig around for information on those. While he thought about this, he jumped as Ofelia suddenly yelped. Quickly, he looked around to see what was wrong, but just blinked when she said she saw something in the corner. He was about to look... but the way she pointed wasn't anywhere near where her sight had been a moment ago. The hunter was confused. "Uh. Right," he said while scratching his head. He was at least distracted with another question. "Hm? Oh. Yeah. Well. Not a ton. But met a decent amount. Some nice. Some want to kill me on sight. ... Generally nicer when they don't know I'm a hunter," he said before slowly looking to his left hand, "The ones that do... well. Things usually don't go so well. Usually really angry. Sometimes wanting revenge."

The teen nodded as she listened, taking in the facts. The first monster she'd met was nice enough until she used Rue on him, same for the third one. Danini hadn't seemed to care one way or another and Shun? Well, Shun probably thought she was an idiot and not a threat, even though she'd torn him a nice one. Part of her wanted to see him again, to ask if he made it out okay. She hadn't been too hurt to make it back to the portal, but he'd taken Rue full on and was bleeding badly.
And then Deryk said something else, and his eyes moved.
"What happed wit' yer hand?" Ofelia had been watching Deryk closely in an effort to keep Rue's comment and sounds of out her head. It was easy to do, she found, when she was focused hard on something and all her attention went there. That meant when Deryk's eyes flicked down to his hand, her eye followed and naturally her curiosity went there too. "Ah mean, ya looked down at it so Ah f'gur'd sommin' musta happened."
It never once occured to her that asking might be rude beyond all belief, seeing as people asked her all the time about her eye. Injuries were injuries, nothing to take offense over. . .right? Hopefully.

Deryk shifted a bit, then moved his hand so that Ofelia might be able to see it better. She must not have noticed earlier, but the ring finger was completely missing. He didn't like to show it off, but what happened happened. "One of the angry ones did this. Same one gave me the scar on my face. Hadn't run into any one that was going completely berserk like that. It was... intense. Very," he said while setting his hand back down. It didn't sound like he was particularly angry about the incident. If anything, his tone signified he was saddened more than anything.

Ofelia's eyes narrowed at the sight of the missing finger; she actually hadn't noticed it before because she didn't make a massive habit of looking at people's hands. There wasn't a strong need for her to look at faces either, even if she couldn't see them as well as she would like, so it honestly wasn't until Deryk even said anything that she noticed.
"Fer what it's worth, Ah'm glad ya lost only a finger an' walked away wit' a scar. Sounds like it could'a been much, much worse." She smiled, or tried to smile. "Ah mean, uh. Well, s'never good ta lose a limb or anythin' important, Ah suppose they want their hunters an' what have ya in good shape, cripples aren' really looked well upon." She winced at the word cripple, eating more and more of her flip-flop with each passing syllable she spoke. "Please stop mah talkin' b'for' Ah somehow offend ya."

"Y-yeah. Could have been way worse," he agreed. That particular finger was a fairly minor loss compared to what he could have lost instead. The lack of that digit really didn't hinder his ability to fight or anything like that, which Deryk supposed what was important. "Uh. Yeah. Topic change. Um... So... you ran into a few yourself then? They weren't the crazy ones were they?"

"Crazy, nah. One'a 'em was pretty interested in mah chest though, he kept lookin' at me kinda. . .funny. The looks stopped though once Ah got Rue out, an' even after that he kept holdin' onta mah leg." Ofelia shuddered at the memory, keeping out the fact that she'd stomped the zombie's head into the ground to finally get rid of it. "Then there was a cat-like thing, he broke mah shield and tore up mah face a bit. B'for' him was Danini, er. . .Ah guess her name was Sura? Really, really big thing! We kinda stopped our fight when she kept missin' me, didn' really feel right hittin' sommin' that couldn' hit back."
If Ofelia recalled correctly Rue had hated her for a long while after those last two fights. "Mah most recent was a reaper named. . . uh...Ah think he said Shun? Didja know reapers can summon weapons like we do, only they dun got souls...or whatever." Ofelia placed another brownie in her mouth, now into her wonderful stage of idle eating that meant she was just going to chow down. "Ah wonder if he's okay. Ah mean, Ah left him bleedin' pretty badly but Ah dunno. We're not supposed ta worry 'bout them are we? Even if they look super human an' blame us fer everythin'."
The teen hadn't felt hate towards Shun, even if he hated her for being a hunter. Neither of them could change what they were though, not that Ofelia would even want to. It was because of the people of Halloween she lost her eye and, even if she wanted to be friendly, part of her still held resentment towards all of them for it. If Shun lumped all hunters together in general anger Ofelia did much of the same. "What was the one who got hold'a ya?"

It sounded like she had run into a bit of a mix of different students there. It didn't seem like they had met the same people, however. "Yeah... ran into one of those once. Didn't really get to talk much though. The horsemen I ran into.. they had weapons too. The Death Heir lady has a big scythe," he said, recalling his encounter with her at the isles. Shaking his head at the thought, he scratched his head at her questions regarding how to feel towards them. "Don't know the answer to that personally. Probably better to keep any feelings like that hidden. Not sure if we'd get in trouble. Sympathizing... and all," he said with a frown. "As for this one.. didn't catch its name. Couldn't tell if it was male or female. Plague doctor. Wore lots of red. Metal wings and claws."

Hearing about the different creatures sort of made the sun teen glad she'd only encountered less than a handful; she had no desire to personally go out and meet more of them. If one of them had no problems taking off a finger, or leaving a scar on a face, perhaps she really was lucky to just have run into those she could easily overpower. At Deryk's suggestion to keep thoughts to herself she nodded, sheepishly adding "Ferget then Ah said anythin', if ya dun mind. Safer fer both'a us, maybe."
"A plague wha? Ya'mean like the things durin' the black plague in England? Those guys were monsters all'long?" The look on Ofelia's face bordered surprised and confused, which wasn't very difficult for her to see. It wasn't silly to think that monsters could have existed back thing but it wasn't really something she openly thought of either. If such a thing were true then just how much of history class was wrong? "It would kinda...make sense though, in'a way." No, it really didn't. Ofelia fished for a different subject, flicking a crumb off her lips. "Ah think Ah've eaten half the brownies. Wit'out nuts."
Yes, she probably had. The look of terror on her face confirmed as much as she looked over to the dwindling pile.

"Yeah. It had one of those masks. Er... not sure if all of them were monsters. This one had hooves and stuff. Don't remember any of the pictures for history having those. Could be inspired by fear those doctors might have given though. Y'know?" Deryk suggested. Monster or not, that mask was a little formidable. Not to meant that some people probably feared needing to have a doctor around and whatnot. When Ofelia pointed out the brownies, he blinked and stared at the pile which was considerable smaller now than it originally was. "Oh wow. You went through those quick."

"Ah am the worst human bein' ever. Ah made those fer ya an' then ate them all. We were gonna watch videos but Ah kept talkin' an' we're off track an' the video is off an' Ah somehow might'a called ya a cripple in the process." Her face turned redder and redder with each word, Ofelia's paranoia springing up like a fresh, well, spring of water. Inside her head she could faintly hear Rue's chuckle at her discomfort and it took a large amount of self-control to keep the teen's hand from slapping against her head in a form of punishment.
"A'course Ah didn' mean ta call ya a cripple if ya think Ah did Ah would never do that, Ah was mostly referrin' ta mahself since Ah got only one eye, but Ah'm so sorry Ah ate all yer brownies." She was rambling on, considering there were still quite a few brownies left. Her over-baking was a blessing in this case, but her embrassment was preventing her from seeing it as such. "Ah...should make ya sommin' else too ta take back to yer roomies since there clearly ain' 'nough brownies now. Is there...anythin' else that'd be okay?"
She was practially up to her knee in her throat now, just a little bit more.

Deryk stared at Ofelia as she went on and on about this and that. Bringing his hands up, he waved them while shaking his head. "N-no! Nononono. Don't worry about it. It's fine really. Taken worse abuse before. This not much. And. Still plenty of brownies left. So no need to go make more things. Serious. But uh. Might want to bring these back while still fresh. Cooled down a bit, but bet insides are still warm. Yes," he said with a mild grin.

Ofelia took a deep breath and sighed, her cheeks still a bit red from all the talking and the nerves and everything else. "Ah take it that means ya need ta go?" Her words weren't as sad sounding as she thought they might be but they still held a little bit of disappointment. Mentally she kicked herself for it, but plastered a toothy grin on her face none the less. Everyone always seemed over eager to get away from her, maybe it was just her imagination.
Or maybe, for once, she'd like to be the person stomping off and leaving whomever she was with in the dust.
That sounded rude as hell though and, despite Ofelia's general lack of most manners, she didn't enjoy being rude on purpose. Accidents happened though.
"Hmm, if ya need ta go though wouldja mind showin' me how'ta work this thing? Ah wanna see if they got any videos wit' someone missin' an eye or sommin'." She seriously doubted that was possible. It seemed as though hunters severly injured in the line of duty didn't live very long. "Might be worth mah while, yanno?" She wasn't going to sulk and beg or ask him to stay longer; Ofelia needed Deryk to like her and not think she was batshit crazy like everyone else seemed to do.
