TheCosmeticPrince I'm am glad they apologized. I have not been in personal contact with Carmen since last night after I made this thread. But she would like to express her deepest gratitude to all of you for your support. I will try to get in contact with her tonight. I'll keep you all posted. Did they make a formal apology, like in person or on television at least? Feels more appropriate than just posting it on the internet.

They say they are trying to get in touch with Carmen. But I doubt that. I will let you know once I talk to her.

That prank was just a bad idea to begin with and they could of at least addressed her to how she wanted them to as she did told them before hand.

I'm glad they apologized. If they'd called her the wrong gender accidentally, that would be one thing - but they knew they were going against her wishes when it happened. I hope their apology is sincere.

I've talked to Carmen personally, and she received a full apology. Two in fact. One private one public (the one on facebook) But she has made it clear that another cast member has referred to Carmen as an "IT" on his personal twitter.Quote: Carmen Carrera:"OK, so now Im an "IT"???? This is how the "Cousin Anthony" from the "Cake Boss" referred to me to a fan.... IGNORANCE. "

Wow that is just beyond rude and wrong to call Carmen an "IT" when they were supposed to be apologizing. neutral
Don't they realize that saying stuff like that hurts her's and other peoples feelings?

Belethiel Sifen Yamishi A supposed apology has been released on Facebook. Any thoughts on that? On Facebook? That is very, very impersonal, in my opinion. :/
That's where the outrage was. That's where people were complaining about what happened. Why would it be someplace else? The protesting was on Facebook. What better way to reach those upset than to post on the same place that they're protesting?
It's too bad that that one person referred to her as 'It'. Honestly though, I am not surprised. She picked a really stupid prank to participate in. What's the point of the prank? To freak out straight guys. This is NOT the best way to educate people.
As soon as these guys learned she was born a man, I wonder how quick they were to think things like "I'm not gay" or realize their friends would tease them and call them gay. This isn't the best mindset to explain to someone about what being transgendered really is.
I feel bad for the terminology being used, being called 'it' is pretty damn insulting. But as a transgendered person, I'd expect Carmen to know that this sort of prank was a seriously bad idea. I really can't feel that sympathetic toward her. She has to know that this is how men could react. >_< Why even put herself in a situation where it was likely that they could react like that?

Look we all know that it wasn't a good prank to get involved in. Carmen realizes that. But despite her being involved she explained to the cast and producers how to address a transgendered woman. Carmen agreed if they would address her properly. The message she was trying to send is that biological women and transgendered women are both just that WOMEN and both deserve to be treated as WOMEN. Buddy has apologized privately and publicly to Carmen. The issue has been resolved. However Carmen is still trying to spread awareness.

She wasn't just flirting though. She was pulling a prank. The point of the prank was to freak the man out. That's why they used a transgendered woman because we all know that has the potential to freak a stupid straight man out.
Had she just been flirting and NOT pulling a stupid prank, I'd feel a lot more for her. But she wasn't just flirting.
What happened is unfortunate. But she's to blame for agreeing to participate in such a poorly chosen prank. I don't get why she'd agree to such a stupid prank to begin with.

Yeah. The point of the episode was to lure employees to flirt with her. Then they'd tell the employees that she was born a man. That was the point of the prank. Of course, there's more shock value if you say she is a man. Better for the TV ratings, I suppose. I don't know, I don't watch anything on TLC. (And this isn't going to encourage me to start.)
Had she been out on a date, was flirting then called a man and an it, that's be pretty disgusting and rude. I'd support her 100% in demanding an apology.
But she knew about the prank. = What did she expect would happen when the men were told she was born a man? Pulling a prank is a pretty bad way of increasing awareness. There won't be much dialogue when someone is freaked out like these men were. There won't be much education.

-AvalonChristopher- Esiris -AvalonChristopher- Wow, that's dumb )= I feel so bad for her. I HATE Cake Boss. They give the impression that all italian people eat all the time, and talk like retards. NO. So shut up, you dumb Cake Boss. I have heard that they are all actually rude people also, I despise it. They need to stop airing it, and throwing money at those selfish people. They don't care about other people's feelings, as long as they are rich. I know how you feel- but if you think they're rude, and using ableism slurs (like dumb and retarded) to say that, isn't it just as bad? Never intentionally said they were dumb, and retarded. I said the show was, and the way they talk was. There isn't really anyone named 'Cake boss' on the show XD I just don't like how they portray the whole image of them being this perfect family with this perfect little cake shop.I just don't like people equating "bad" with intellectual and developmental impairment- it's as bad as people saying "that's gay" when they mean to say "that's bad". It has the same effect on our thought process- it creates an unconscious connection between "bad" and a group of people and that's why it's unacceptable to use slurs. We're in a thread talking about awareness when it comes to attacking people who are different- why do that to another group when you're standing up for Trans people?
