"ROCH!" Danny screeched, pushing his hand away to get the water bottle a good distance from her, which ended up just making her lean FARTHER onto Roch's lap. "You're such a candlewaxing jerk! No one would want to kiss your ugly face!!"
She looked over at Amphi who was very awkwardly muttering something about returning later because of their friendship. That just sounded weird. "Nooooo Amphi! Just come audition like you're supposed to. I promise you don't have to kiss Roch, he's just being a batface."
At that, she stuck out her tongue at Roch, and crossed her arms, done playing push-away with the bottle. Roch wouldn't dump it on her anyways.
Would he?

Amphi warily watched the water bottle too. Though for different reason then the fire demon. The last time Roch had water, he had thrown it in a form of a balloon and caused her to shift on dry land. never a good thing for a mermaid.
"Oh..." Well Amphi wouldn't agree that NO ONE would want to kiss his face but she did frown at him and added, "I don't want you to kiss me but if you do, I will kick you and then I will still audition so...." She waited awkwardly before adding, "And...okay." She smiled shyly at Danny.
"If you don't mind then." She stared at Roch then, cocking her head as her voice started in a soft melody, a low voice.

Poseidon's lips,

Her voice rose like waves, deepened with a rough edge, played with the melody before drawing off on the end. Her eyes had closed in the midst of singing, now opened again to stare at the two.
"Umm...What did you think?"

Jack... jack jack jaaaack, Roch thought, she had a good voice. It was against his nature to turn down any musician, and it was an outright WRONG to turn down a good one. But at the same time, he was trying to get rid of her!
"Can you read music?" he asked abruptly. "Or is everything you sing learned by ear?"

"Who CARES!" Danny said, smiling and blowing Roch's train of though right off the track. "Amphi that was great! Oh my Jack you're so good!!!"
She was clapping and bouncing in her seat.

Amphi blinked at Danny's enthusiam, before smiling at her. "Thank you Danny!" She flushed as she looked to Roch now. Her blush only deepened because looking at him also meant thinking about him and then thinking about he kissed her and well...
His question surprised her before she frowned.
"I can read...." She waited, her face obviously showing a conflict of sorts...."I mean...well....Under the sea, we don't have tools to write or such, often My sister's sang to me purely to give me...um...a Vocabulary in music." She paused, "I'm not perfect but I am slowly learning to read the music. I can read words though very well and quite enjoy it." Often she was found in the library reading through the stacks. Music though was entirely different matter. She barely knew the notes and often winged it when she sang.
Her frown deepened even more though. "But...I cannot write."

"Write music? That doesn't matter for you," Roch said with a shrug. "Writing music is sort of... an art," he added. "But you need to learn to read music if you're gonna do stuff like plays." He'd been thinking of asking the play teacher about running a little play called "Little Shop of Horrors" and as much as he hated it... Amphi could easily be one of the singers.
Jackdammit, stop thinking that now, boil, you're trying to get rid of her, he told himself.
"Who's teaching you to read music?" he asked. "I'm thinking I can find someone that will."

"Roch!" Danny scolded, "You know we've never had anyone need to read sheet music!" She put her head in her hands and said, "I don't think Moure even plays an instrument ..." No really?
She slapped Roch gently on the arm and said, "Ooh! Ooh! Roch Roch you could teach her to read music. Like me!" She held up her guitar like it was a certificate to read music. "Amphi you can learn with me!!"
Danny just loved to dig Roch's hole deeper. (8

Amphi frowned at Roch. Was he still trying to get rid of her? She didn't like that. neither, did it seem, did Danny.
"Your teaching Danny too?" Amphi smiled then, coming to stand closer to Roch and leaning over so that her hand touched his arm, giving him a smile. "I want to be taught by Roch too. That can be punishment for kissing me." She continued to smile though it seemed a little....

He went perfectly still at the touch, staring up at her with a strangely vulnerable expression--one that sort of reminded you of the mini wishingeon that he'd turned into at their first meeting. "Lizzy knows how to play," he said after a second. "She should know how to read music. Or if not her, Mitsu would be good. She plays the piano, which is easiest to learn the singing part with. You know Mitsu, right?"
That slightly off smile was getting to him. Guilt was wracking him, but-- "It's not out of spite," he said quietly, repeating himself from earlier, "I just know what's right." Even though everyone (including Monica--Monica how could you betray him like that?? AND DANNY! Backstabbing best friend!) was trying to force him to be her friend.

"Ooh Lizzy! And Mitzu ooooh~," Danny chimed in. Not gonna lie, she wasn't really TRYING to make them friends. It was just sort of happening. Friends with everyone forever and ever except Edel. That would always be Danny's motto. "But Roch ... you know music better than both of them. I mean it's like ... it's like it's you."
Quite literally too, since Desiree was just an extension of Roch. "But ... but I wanna learn with Amphi! Please Roch? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. I'll give you my whole lunch and I'll be your bestest friend PLEAAAAAASE~~~~"
Kindergartners had nothing on Danny.

"Lizzy knows how?" That stopped the mermaid for a second but she shook her head, rejecting the option. "Ah...I don't know this Mitsu...." She frowned, "I don't want a stranger." She looked at him, "I want Roch."
"Danny is right. Music is you, and it is I and I want to learn from the best!" Her hand took a stronger grip as she leaned over, closer to Roch. Her face was flushing but her intent was clear.
"You hate me then Roch?" She stared at him, pleading with her big blue's. She looked like a puppy dog.

He looked away. He should probably say yes, he decided. It would solve the problem then and there, she would be gone for good--possibly. She was jackin' hardheaded, wasn't she? "It wouldn't work," he said instead. "Danny's been takin' lessons for an entire year, you'd just be starting out. That'd leave me teachin' two different lessons at the same time."
Then he turned it right back on her, staring up with his eerie silver eyes. "Do you really wanna do that to me, Amphi?" he asked quietly. It seemed to cover more than just making him teach two different lessons at once, that question. It seemed to imply that what she was doing right now--or what she would be doing in the future, could be painful to the boil.

They were at a standstill. Amphi was pulling out the wibbles and Roch was sitting there looking uncomfortable. As much as she liked Amphi, Danny wasn't going to let her play the QQ card on her best friend. "Hey Amphiiii. Roch doesn't hate you. He's just saying he's too stupid to teach two ghouls at once."
She nodded slowly and solemnly said, "It's okay, I understand Roch. I can't even teach one person." She sighed, "You might hafta ask Lizzy. Roch's just too dumb."
She really thought she was helping.

"She's got a point," Roch said, grabbing it with both hands. "Seriously, I ain't that bright." This whole problem was proof of it, wasn't it? "And I still have more to learn, which makes me NOT a master. See, there's this old skeleton man that taught me everything I know, but not everything HE knows, so I'm still a student. And besides, you and Lizzy are real good pals, right? I bet she'd LOVE to teach you once you explained the problem!"
Danny had just saved his bacon once again. He knew there was a reason to have her as his best friend!

"I think he does hate me." And then she turned her wibble eyes on Danny. "I think he really does and its cause I stalked him and made him swim to the middle of the lake and made him sing and now he doesn't even want me around." She shook Roch's arm now.
"Then.......If I learn to read Music to where Danny is at, Can I join your class? I want Roch to teach me though, and to be able to hang out with Danny too!" She didn't plead but she wasn't backing down.
Something flickered in her blue eyes at the mention of what she was doing before blanking. Whether or not the mermaid caught what Roch meant was a mystery.
