She watched Mot as he tried the cake, letting out a sigh of relief before breaking off a piece of the cake with the fork for herself, stuffing it into her mouth. Immediately, her eyes widened in delight as she smiled, chewing and swallowing quickly, "This is delicious! Not too creamy, not too sweet, and the cake is moist... Just right!"
Another forkful of cake, and she paused, eyeing Mot.
"By the way, how are things between you and Hel?" She had spoken to Hel and listened to her point of view on things, but Mot... Well, to be honest, she might be a little biased towards Hel, since they were both ghouls, "Is... Everything okay?"

Mot just about choked on his cake.
After coughing a bit and managing to swallow his mouthful, he set down his cake in favour of having some tea. "Ah.. well enough." He replied nervously, face red either from shyness or the choking.

"Oh?" She practically leo-squinted at him, but with more sparkles, in a 'how fascinating, tell me more' manner.

The grim reaper gave Lizzy a shy glance before setting his tea down again. The sparkles, it seemed, were indeed a little scary in this sort of situation. "Um.. well.. she wasn't happy with me for some time, and we fought a lot. And after..." He hesitated to bring up Mac, so he found a way to work around it. "After some advice, I decided to be a little more bold with her. Little by little."
Sure he wasn't jumping her at every turn, but now he didn't allow himself to quell small urges.

"So," She took a sip of tea, eyeing Mot with a slight frown; at least she had stopped sparkling, "You're holding her right? And... Giving her kisses? Making her feel loved?"

He had a strong feeling Mac wasn't the only person Hel went to regarding her feels. It kind of pissed him off a little. Still, Mot sighed softly and nodded. "Yes, I am." He admitted, trying to ignore how hot his face felt discussing this. "It's easier the more I do it. It was never an issue of wanting her or not. It was mostly just me and my inexperience. I was scared of making a move or being moved on."

"Don't think of it that way then!" She nodded, "You know, the first boil I hugged was Jericho. It was a really, really awkward hug for both of us. I, uh, kind of passed out straight after that." She blushed a bit, clearing her throat, "It's true though, the more you do it, the easier it gets... I can hug you no problem now!"
At least she sounded proud of herself.

"Wow, really? You passed out?" Mot chuckled. Lizzy was so adorable. Mot felt a bit better, relaxing slightly from the tense posture he'd found himself in. "Right, me too. I'm not as rigid as I was before about physical contact."
He leaned back on the couch some more, feeling more open about himself than usual. "Back at home, before I came to Amity, I never would have imagined I would become the person I am now. I couldn't even imagine hugging a ghoul without becoming flustered."

"Boils are awkward to hug. Ghouls are all soft, and they smell nice..." She trailed away before giggling, nodding happily as she cut up a small piece of cake, holding it up with her fork, "Yes! And physical affection is really comforting..."
She paused, frowning as she wrung her hands together, "I'm sorry if I poked my nose into your business too much... I just... Don't like to see you or Hel suffer."

Comforting. Yes, it was, in a way. More than it had been in the past. Now that he let himself accept it, those sorts of interaction did bring comfort.
"No, don't feel sorry. You're concerned, that's all." Mot assured her, smiling. He wasn't sure if suffer was the right word, and it made him worry. "Is.. Hel not doing well? She seems distant about talking through her feelings, especially lately."

"Ah, no it's not that," She looked sheepish, "Maybe suffering was too strong a word, but... Had it ever occurred to you that maybe, Hel doesn't want to talk about her feelings because she doesn't want it to end in a quarrel or arguement with you? When Mac and I disagree on a topic - like what marriage means for us - I end up... Generally avoiding the topic, because bringing it up will only make us both unhappy."
She frowned, "And we're never really going to change each other's minds about that topic, even if I do agree with some of his points... So in the end, talking about it becomes pointless. Maybe that's how Hel feels right now. She feels really strongly about marriage, and these views differ so much from yours, but there's no middle ground for her, and maybe she blames herself... Instead of talking, just hold her more. Sleep in the same bed as her, with her in your arms." Her cheeks turned pink, as she smiled, more to herself than at Mot, "I love it when Mac does that. It says 'I'm here for you' even if he doesn't say it out... It means more than words, you know?"

Lizzy hit the nail for sure. It was a touchy subject that always ended with a fight. At least he wasn't the only boilfriend not keen on marrying so young.
"I understand." Mot relented, sipping the last of his tea. "I'm not sure how to make her feel better about it, or reassure her. I fear bringing up a touchy subject will make her unhappy." The reaper shook his head and sighed. "Well, I'll cross that bridge when it comes. In the meantime I'll keep trying to improve myself for her."

"I've always thought that avoiding the topic was like running away from a problem, but... I guess that's how some things should be," She sighed, obliviously unhappy with the need to avoid talking about certain things. Picking up the teapot, she refilled Mot's cup for him. Once the teapot was back on the table, she looked up at him, "Improvement is always good, as long as the core of your character doesn't change."

"I wouldn't go that far. If I had to change who I am for her, then the relationship would be doomed from the start." Mot smiled softly at Lizzy, then turned to take a sip from his cup. "Just improvements. Smoothing out the faults." Compromises and improvements. Things needed working out, but he felt, hoped, it was worth it.
"I'd do just about anything for her."

"Awwww," Her expression softened as she smiled, reaching out to pat him on his forehead; it was something she hadn't done for a while anyway, "As long as you understand that, you'll be fiiiiiiiinnnne." She even flashed him a thumbs-up, as if to emphasize on the point.
