Oujay's log of the FE7 Draft Tournament

Drafted Units: Kent, Pent, Louise, Heath, Dorcas, Rath, Renault
Units Free to Use: Eliwood, Serra, Marcus, Merlinus, Athos

It's time to begin this draft! I was too lazy on thinking of another name, but I placed my own birth month just to change things up

Chapter 11: Taking Leave
xxx Oh god, I don’t know how many times I’ve had to restarted because of Eliwood and Dorcas kept on dying. But other than that pretty straight forward chapter. Eliwood had not so bad levels and Dorcas did okay. I’m just glad I have Marcus in my army to help take out these enemies since I can’t use Lowen or Rebecca

Chapter 12: Birds of a Feather
xxx This chapter wasn’t that hard either. Kept all my undrafted units out of the way. I had Eliwood and Dorcas fight around the bottom as Marcus made his way to the top where Oswin and Hector would when they come and join the fray. I managed to get them out of range for the enemies. After that the rest is pretty straight forward. Eliwood got some decent growths and Dorcas is still as glassy as ever.

Chapter 13: In Search of Truth
xxx Same tactic as before basically. Shove all undrafted units in a corner, I moved Marcus to the village to unlock chapter 13x since he had the most movement and when I tried to use Lowen a bandit came to attack him so I didn’t take my chances a second time. I actually used the fact the bandits can destroy villages as a tactical advantage for me this chapter. With the village in the middle destroyed, Marcus can easily reach the fray faster than going around the mountains and village. This chapter I realized how amazing Eliwood had been for me already this game when an archer did zero damage to him. The chapter took longer than I wanted because the boss dodged eliwood’s attacks sometimes and Eliwood never wanted to crit him either, oh well. (Also I forgot to take some screens caps of the chapter except for the final turn count.)

Chapter 13x: The Peddler Merlinus
xxx Another straight foward chapter, I failed the first time cause I forgot that when you kill the boss the chapter doesn't end so that plan failed miserably. It took a couple tries, luckily meatshielding was allowed in this chapter so that did help a bit using Oswin as a shield. In the end however, Lowen died protecting Merlinus and he will forever live in our hearts. (Also no screencaps for a chapter again whooops)
Turns: 8
Total Turn Count: 40

Chapter 14: False Friends
xxx This chapter was tough with only three fighting units and a healer. Sadly I didn’t keep Merlinus alive but he stayed alive longer enough for me to buy some items and send them to storage. Erk fight and died within two turns and I didn’t have to worry about him since I’m not recruiting him. The village Priscilla was in got attacked cause there were too many enemies for my three guys to quickly get over village, but it didn’t really matter anyways sinec I didn’t need her and I was only going towards that direction for the equipment.

Does anyone else feel a draft?

Part two!

The Team: Lowen, Raven, Fiora, Isadora, Hawkeye, Bartre, Karel. Plus Eliwood, Marcus, Serra, Merlinus, and Athos.

When we last left our heroes...

Chapter 13:My attention span suuuucks todayBartre goes to visit Merlinus's village. Guy crits on Lowen but Lowen is okay because he is buff and wonderful and I love him. Guy is killed. Hana's village is destroyed and I couldn't care less. Lowen goes on ahead and kills lots of soldiers. Marcus crits on the boss and only gets +1 luck for his trouble. I hope this doesn't come back to bite me. I was very sloppy.
Turns: 9
Total Turn count: ~24

Chapter 13x: An unarmed Oswin guards the bottom area and Hector rescues Merlinus. Unarmed Matthew does some tanking by sitting on a forest and dodging things. Bartre spends some time moving around and killing things, while Lowen, Marcus, and Eliwood flush out enemies up on top. Serra gets some experience healing everyone. The village gets destroyed and I don't care. Why does Marcus keep critting on bosses? It speeds things up, though. Then Lowen crits too and this is followed by everyone missing with 80% hit rates, presumably for the RNG to even the score. The chapter ends. I always forget that this one doesn't end when you beat the boss.
Turns: 8
Total Turn Count: ~32

Chapter 14: Lowen and Marcus do the rescue tango to get Eliwood further out into the field while Bartre takes care of the four soldiers with ease. NPC Erk kills that one solider and hangs out. Marcus rides to the lower village and recruits Priscilla while Lowen and Eliwood lure Erik out and both finish him off before going after the bandits near the mountains. Bartre and Marcus took care of the pirates. Don't you hate it when Pirates run to fortresses to restore their health? I reset the game once because that happened after Bartre missed twice in a row. I wouldn't stand for it.
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: ~42

Since someone did come up to me and admit that they did skip a gaiden chapter that is required I will have to post the penalities.

Missing Chapter 13x will result in a 14 turn penalty
Missing Chapter 16x or 18x will result in a 15 turn penalty
Missing Chapter 29x will result in a 10 turn penalty.

These will be edited into the first post as well for a reference.

Currently stealing some random neighbor's internet to post because mine is going on day 2 of not working.

ch11: 8
ch12: 10
ch13: ...forgot that it was game over if hector died... woops... 9
ch13x: 8, waited it out. :/

User ImageUser Image

ch14: yay Priscilla! 15. took lots of resets. >> Rebecca took out lots of pirates though. Let Serra die. More heal exp for Priscilla.
ch15: 10 .omfg Lyn is fragile. x_x
ch16: 21 turns. ouch. >< the boss took me a bit, as Sain was the only one that could really damage him and I didn't want him to accidently die. Also had to take that little detour to recruit Lucius. Added a bit more to my turncount right there.
ch16x: I was unaware that there WAS such a thing as 16x, and how exactly to get to it. So. 15 turns. :/ I can't go backwards now because I'm going on a single save slot, so, I guess ******** me sideways, I'm stuck with 15 extra turns.
ch17: 8

Lyn keeps dying. I regret ever taking her. Every time I get close to finished 18, she ******** dies. I have never been so frustrated in my life.

So this all means I'm at a grand total of 104. Ouch.

Oujay's log of the FE7 Draft Tournament

Drafted Units: Kent, Pent, Louise, Heath, Dorcas, Rath, Renault

Previous Installments: Part 1

Chapter 15:
xxx This chapter wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be, probably because in my last experience Lyn mode units without lyn mode were dying left and right, but this time they did a good job keeping themselves alive. It took quite a bit of time getting through the enemy units, wish I could've done it faster but oh well. Hooray for me getting one of my next drafted units! Kent will be a fine addition indeed.

Chapter 16:
xxx This chapter took a lot longer than I had hoped. I had to ferry matthew in order between the two chests in order to get the hero's crest and the knight's crest for Kent and Dorcas. Though luckily that wasn't the thing that effected my turn count. The NPC soldiers were a little tough to handle since they weren't smart when it came to fighting. Two of them ended up dying and I needed at least one in order to get the gaiden chapter and the last one wanted really badly to fight the boss so I had to rescue him with Dorcas in order to keep him alive. Also the boss was a tough one and didn't one to die at all. A couple misses and no crits from Eliwood made things super fun for that chapter *sarcasm* Oh well.

Edit: Totally, forgot but I get a 4 turn penalty for stealing a silver sword from a chest.

Chapter 16x:
xxx This chapter was pretty easy it's just I think i took longer than I actually should've done it *shrug* oh well. I had my units just go around and take care of those pirates with dem swords, except for Dorcas with his axe. I just kept Marcus near the front to protect Merlinus since I didn't need that much people going around to reach the captain.

Chapter 17:
xxx This chapter wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had my drafted units just split into two. Eliwood and Kent took the right ship with all the mercs and Marcus and Dorcas took the side with all the shamans where Serra backed them up with her staff. Also took advantage of the shops there cause why not. Stocked up on some weapons and staves hopefully I'll be good for items until after i get off the island.

The Draft Dodger
I was always taught that honesty was the best policy. Because I will never learn if I'm not honest to everyone. I will never learn if I'm not honest to... Myself.

Hello. I'm Tiki for daytime television. This is a very serious draft.

Chapter 15: Marcus, Lowen, Eliwood, and Bartre head towards the castle. Florina visits the village. I sell Lyn’s blue gem and use Lyn’s crew to buy some steel weapons. They fight some enemies and visit the village nearest to them. Merlinus didn’t get through the chapter, but I got to send him some stuff from the shop. Things are a little slow because of all of the enemies in the woods, and a few people are low on speed and can’t double sword users. Extra turn spent having Eliwood defeat the boss before seizing.
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: ~52

Chapter 16: And here's where it all goes wrong. I gave the energy ring to Eliwood since his strength is a bit lacking. I really noticed it last chapter and should have done it then. Same thing with giving Lowen a secret book. ( I plan on saving the Dracoshield for Fiora when she comes along). Prissy comes along to recruit Raven, Matthew comes along to get a Knight’s crest and a Hero’s crest. Both are completely unarmed. Marcus rescues Matthew to go get the chests on the left. This chapter is annoying because juggling Matthew is annoying. I have Marcus use a door key to save a bit of time. Marcus ferries him around. Archers are jerks and they get in the way, though they were dealt with a bit quicker by equipping Marcus, Lowen, and Bartre with ranged weapons. I had Matthew take one of the chests by mistake. It was a Silver Sword, and I didn’t know which of the two chests had the Knight Crest in it. I really didn't want to do the chapter again. But I SHOULD have because…
Turns: 12 +4 for silver sword.
Total Turn Count: ~64+4

Chapter 16x: I skipped it because I am dumb and I let all of the Caelin soldiers die and pressed save too soon because chapter 16 had annoyed me. I’m the exact opposite of Lyre; I had never NOT gotten 16x, so I didn’t know what the chapter qualifications were.
Could have rescued one of the soldiers with Prissy after she recruited Raven and saved me the trouble…
Hindsight sucks. I think I don’t like chapter 16.
Turns: asdf +15
Total Turn Count: ~64+19

Chapter 17: But that doesn’t mean I can’t keep on going for my own personal Tiki records. Though I imagine it would be easier with the experience I would have gained. I give Serra a new heal staff that I had bought earlier since hers is on its way out (though she’s been also using Prissy’s mend staff) and Raven gets an iron sword. Eliwood gets the ill-gotten silver sword, at least until Raven gains a few weapon levels. Undrafted Florina buys some weapons and items to get me through the next few chapters, then hides away from combat for the rest of the chapter. Ranged weapons speed up getting rid of the shamans. Marcus and Bartre (mostly Marcus) go to deal with the shamans on the left, while Eliwood goes between sides and Raven and Lowen take care of the right side. The chapter ends after Marcus defeats the boss.
Turns: 6
Total turncount: ~70+19

Does anyone else feel a draft?

Part, uh, Four!

Chapter 18: Florina comes along to wait and receive Fiora. Dart gives his stuff to Merlinus and hangs out in the middle of nowhere. Everyone goes south, I don’t care for the Torch Staff. Marcus wrecks things with a horseslayer. As does Raven with the longsword he got last chapter. Unarmed Florina takes a single hit before she and Dart run off into the distance to leave Merlinus to get his stuff wrecked. I keep Fiora largely away from the rest of the group because she’s still fresh and she could get shot down by Uhai’s nomadic mooks. Though she and her axereaver do kill some pirates. Marcus uses a vulnerary while sitting in front of Uhai, horseslayer equipped. He then kills Uhai on the following turn. With an unnecessary crit, even!
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: ~77 +19

Chapter 18x: I get the Gaiden chapter this time! Fiora consumes that Dracosheild I was talking about earlier and takes some weapons from the convoy. Marcus immediately goes off and starts javelining things, and he starts hitting the boss before anyone else. Bartre takes out incoming Pegasus knights without breaking a sweat. Fiora grabs the goddess icon on her way between killing mages for experience. Marcus kills Aion right as Eliwood gets far enough to seize the day.
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: ~84 +19

Chapter 19: Guiding Rings? Who needs guiding rings when you’ve got earth seals to look forward to from villages? Plus, Serra won’t be in promotionland for another while, being level 5 as of writing this. Anywho, Hector and Lyn dump their personal weapons into the convoy just in case. They spend the rest of the chapter making snide remarks at one another before making out furiously. It’s very crowded in the skinny hall and things move a little slowly due to being clogged up by horses n’ things. Fiora killed some armor knights at the beginning but spent the rest of the chapter killing mages for experience. After all, there’s not much space for a Pegasus knight to move around in this chapter. Bartre and his hammer got some mileage in this chapter, as did Lowen’s heavy spear, but they were both rather inaccurate against Darin. Marcus whittled him down and Bartre ended up striking the killing blow. Unfortunately the whole ordeal took two turns before Eliwood could seize the throne.
Turns: 9
Total Turn Count: ~93 +19

Chapter 20: Serra gets some torches to use while idling. Unarmed Florina and unused Ninian go visit villages and grab a restore staff and a wyrmslayer. Nini grabs the rescue staff and gives it to Serra. Eliwood charges into battle like a moron to take advantage of the free Nini’s Grace. Fiora gets rid of the light mages near Merlinus. They can’t hurt her anyway, and the chapter was over so quick she didn’t really get to do anything else. Marcus and Lowen get their first support conversation! Oh Lowen, you might not have as much strength as ideally you should, but you’re still beautiful, and you don’t want to be like Harken anyway (though that's a different convo with a different ending). But my dreams of the Team Pherae Cavalry Support Chain inch slightly closer to fruition. Marcus gets in some nice crits. Oleg is nice enough to come to me instead of making me look for him! Eliwood and his ill-gotten Silver Sword take out most of his HP, Lowen gets a hit in, and Marcus finishes him off.
Turns: 4
Total Turn Count: ~97 +19

Oh, hey, it's high time I started throwing some actual input into this thread.

FE7 Draft

Part 1 (11, 12, 13, 13x, 14)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5E5uBzozZw
(shitty quality, direct livestream feed)

Chapter 11:
Eliwood, Marcus
Turns: 6
A fairly straightforward chapter. Marcus did most of the hard work, ferrying Eliwood across the field when necessary. Dorcas visited the village, and Bartre traded his stuff to Dorcas and blocked so the bandits couldn't get to him.

Chapter 12:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector
Turns: 8
Also straightforward. Eliwood and Marcus took the bottom until Hector showed up, and then Hector picked the top units off while Marcus took care of the far side.

Chapter 13:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra
Turns: 8
Hector and Serra take the south path to keep the bandits from getting at the undrafted units while Marcus and Eliwood head straight for the boss. Lowen cuts the middleman and visits the village to trigger 13x. The entire lower part of the chapter is ignored, some lucky crits are scored, Hector gets some godly level-ups, and this chapter is not as much of a pain as it usually is.

Chapter 13x:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra
Turns: 8
Since boss rushing doesn't work in Hard Mode, and meatshielding is allowed for this chapter only, Oswin, Hector, and Eliwood take turns blocking the middle island off. Eliwood and Hector get some nice levels, and Marcus takes off and gets some experience himself working around and taking out the onslaught from behind.

Chapter 14:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra, Merlinus
Turns: ~13 (missed this)
Whoops, this chapter took a few turns. Erik has a Horseslayer so Marcus has to stay in the back. Hector is the star here with his cavalry-effective Wolf Beil, and he eats through the pack with ease. Erk dies as NPC, Priscilla is entirely disregarded, and this chapter is wholly a success.

Part 2 (15, 16)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOncxN5lBdo

Chapter 15:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra, Merlinus, Florina
Turns: 11
Florina makes this chapter a lot easier by allowing Hector to jump a cliff and get to the boss faster. Eliwood has to take his time getting over to the boss but it's okay because Hector can handle his own. Lyn and company make their way to the top as well, Merlinus is unfortunately attacked, and this chapter is ended quickly.

Chapter 16:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra, Merlinus, Florina
Turns: 24
Matthew is temporarily employed to loot chests while Eliwood makes his way to the top. Marcus stays at the bottom to defend Merlinus. Hector rescues a single NPC in order to trigger 16x. Far too long is spent in the boss room being careful around him, and this chapter could have been done far quicker...

Part 3 (16x)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA9C_uThx5U

Chapter 16x:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra, Merlinus, Florina, Canas
Turns: 4
...but Florina totally kicks a** in this chapter by soaring past the bottleneck and talking to Fargus. Canas is recruited and most of the chapter is wholly ignored.

Part 4 (17)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR_rMN9n3w0

Chapter 17:
Eliwood, Marcus, Hector, Serra, Merlinus, Florina, Canas
Turns: 12
This chapter can be done far quicker, I know it because I've done it. However, both Florina and Canas were lacking on levels and I was running low on money. Chapter was performed suboptimally in order to pawn some unneeded items and to heavily level Florina and Canas. Florina and Canas got those levels, some lucky crits, and everyone scored some nice level-ups.

And, as of the beginning of chapter 18, our levels are:

Not too shabby.

Previous Installments: Part 1 Part 2

Chapter 18:
xxxChapter 18 wasn’t too much of a tough battle. Had Dart give his equipment to Merlinus and then bolted away from enemy range and chilled in some area away from everyone. Had Fiora just let her kill some pirates as an NPC until she died. I just basically had all my units charge forward towards Uhai, I totally ignored all the little islands and so it was a fast push towards dat Nomad. Uhai was not that tough of a battle, with Eliwood having a longsword and Kent having a horseslayer it simply took one turn of my own and the following enemy turn in order to defeat him.

Chapter 18x:
xxx This chapter was a bit tough in the beginning with the semi-large wave of enemis coming towards my 5 units. Though once Kisuna appeared and nullified all the magic users and Aion getting to the boss wasn’t tough at all. However Aion was a butt and took forever to die. He kept dodging a lot of my attacks even with Marcus’s help. The chapter would’ve been finish a couple turns faster if he just took the hits like a boss but oh well.

Chapter 19:
xxx Chapter 19 took quite a while for me to finally finish. I had to change some tactics a long the way. At first I had brought Matthew along in order to steal the guiding ring in one of the chests but that was a hassle and then I soon realized I could’ve just killed the thief after he stole it for me and it would’ve dropped so I ended up not needing a thief after all and just had Kent rush over with help and take down the thief to get my promotion item. I left Legault alone as he wasn’t needed more being a threat and Darin wasn’t that tough of a fight just took two turns to defeat and could’ve maybe done it faster if I had my units positioned differently but I just wanted the chapter to be over with and didn’t want to attempt it one more time with the chance of more fumbles so keeping my turn count for the chapter. I also gave Dorcas my dragonshield this chapter because he just kept on dying and dying, I hope it pays off in the long run and I don’t regret it.

xxxThis chapter seemed scary to me at first but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be as my units pushed on towards Oleg. I also had to stop near the upper top left corner and retrieve the Elysian Whip and also stopped by the shops to get some more supplies because, why not. Oleg wasn’t that tough, it took a couple hits in one turn and Marcus helped too. Kent got the final blow on Oleg allowing him to be level 20 and being able to promote into a paladin.

All the King's Horses and All the King's Men

Except Harken.

Chapter 21: And with Isadora, The Pheraen Cavalry Charge is complete! The three Cavaliers charge forth to put Eubans out of his misery. He even comes to me like a gentleman! HOLYSHIT MARCUSCRIT with a javelin thanks to fire support from Lowen! Makes him die even quicker! I don’t mind because we’re at the point where Marcus can gain levels from bosses like everyone else, Isadora got some experience anyway, and even picked up a new armorslayer from a random merc. Though I still have egg on my face because Eubans dropped a knight crest.
Turns: 2
Total Turn Count: ~99+19

Chapter 22: Here’s where having many horses isn’t as cool as it normally is. Though luckily for me, this chapter isn’t normal. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another. Gang-banging, Pent dying… Damnit Pent, use an elixir if you’ve got 6 Hp! I went through a few different ways of approaching this chapter. The winning strategy was keeping everyone close together on the non-sandy land for a while until the enemies are less concentrated. Pent gets a bit lucky (or… A bit not unlucky?) until Fiora could rescue him and bring him to the group for healing, since he won’t heal his own dang self. Bartre and Lowen both promote before the chapter and Raven uses the Goddess Icon. Eliwood receives Hawkeye and he is very welcome right off the bat. Bartre passes the killer axe around with Hawkeye. Bartre ends up critting Paul. Marcus and Lowen take down Jasmine with swords and teamwork. What was tough was that a lot of units were still a tad slow and Paul and Jasmine could double many of them, though not necessarily insta-kill them, since many of them are more beefy in the Hp department and can take some abuse, namely Bartre. And Lowen is still a tank. And the mages keep coming, even after the bosses are dead… Well, at least Fiora gets a level or so out of ‘em. She might be able to fly but she’s still only one Fiora, and she spent a lot of her time getting Pent to a safe place and getting in position to get Pent to a safe place.
Didn’t get the Hero Crest, but eh. There’s another one coming up.
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: ~109+19

Chapter 23: No Gaiden. Ten turns is ten turns. Welcome to Lloyd land, where the air is foggy and the Wallace is always greener. I give Afa’s Drops to Raven, as he is still level 10 and has time to grow a bit. Fiora also takes the Angelic Robe Isadora came with. Sain comes along to buy me some things. None of the many of Lloyd’s Swordmooks can do more than scratch at Lowen, so he’s a lancer in a sea of Myrmidons, alternating with Hawkeye in sitting on forts while fighting off the waves of them and drawing them into one place. While they do that, everyone else goes around visiting the villages and getting experience off the snipers. NPC Wallace does NPC Wallace things, and actually does a really good job of cutting some of the fat for me. When everyone else gets closer, Hawkeye clears a ton of them out using his swordreaver on the enemy phase. Lloyd is lured out by Lowen and Lowen takes a lot of abuse, but he can take it because he is Lowen, and he dodges one of Lloyd’s hits. On the final turn, Fiora visits the furthest village, and Lowen, Isadora, and Bartre take out Lloyd. Batre gets the last hit with his iron bow.
