I'm not too worried about it it's just to kinda see where everyone is. Besides you will get to see the turn total at the end of the game, which is where it really counts.
PostPosted: Mon May 14, 2012 3:08 pm

My turn counts suck:

Prologue- 4 turns
I got too careful here.

Chapter 1-8 turns/12 turns total
Just Erikia makes this hard to do fast

Chapter 2-10 turns/22 turns total
Faster now that I have Garcia.

Chapter 3-14 turns/36 turns total
How did I do in the same amount of turns as Nick, but with 3 less units?

Chapter 4-9 turns /45 turns total
Same question here.

Chapter 5-14 turns/59 turns total
Joshua is a pain the butt and a troll.

Chapter 5x-17 turns/76 turns total
That took WAY too long. Also in the 5 level ups Ephriam got, not one point of strength. sad

Chapter 6-10 turns/86 turns total
Kept getting blocked up by enemy units.

Chapter 7-10 turns/96 turns total.
Doing much better Erika is at level 19 and Garcia at level 18.

Chapter 8- 13 turns/109 turns total
Great shield prevented me from getting in a few turns sooner.

Oujay's log of the FE8 Draft Tournament

Drafted Units: Franz, Neimi, Artur, Tana, Saleh, Dozla, Knoll
Units Free to Use: Ephraim, Eirika, Myrrh, Orson

Prologue: The Fall of Renais (I told myself I wouldn't start this till after finals, oh well. There goes studying woo!)
xxxHad to restart three times cause Eirika kept dying, what the hell is up with that. I don't even understand how that occurred, but during my fourth attempt at the prologue I finally defeated the bandits Rageeeeee. My dislike for Eirika just keeps on growing. On the bright side since I'm not using Seth, Eirika is getting all dem exp for the chapter and leveled up!
Turns: 4
Total Turn Count: 4

Chapter 1: Escape!
xxxHad to restart this chapter a couple times most of them due to deaths of Franz and Eirika. Taking down the knight boss was killer (no pun intended) since I can only use Eirika to kill her, but then that's the same for all other participants. It took a while to finally beat the chapter. Sad face to the fact I had to use another turn just for Eirika to conquer the throne, but oh well what is done is done..
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: 11

Chapter 2: The Protected
xxxThis chapter was fairly easy since I had Eirika and Franz to use now and basically all of the units in this chapter used Axes. The only problem at first was figuring out how to get Garcia and Ross away from the enemy, I planned on rescuing Garcia and just letting Ross die, but he ended up surviving the enemy turn so I rescued him too in the end. Not having to worry about saving the village in this chapter made things easier too. Overall, easy chapter with two units that can wield swords while standing on the fortress/forest terrain to help give some boosts.
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: 18

Chapter 3: The Bandits of Borgo
xxxYay! I get Neimi in this chapter, more units are always nice. This chapter was overall pretty easy luckily I didn't have to worry about reinforcements or Colm accidentally killing any units or getting in the way. Franz and Eirika cleaned up the place pretty nicely and having Neimi in the back row sure helped too. I wanted to give Neimi the final blow against the boss however, she only could do 2 damage while the boss had 3! RAGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *flips some tables* Gave Franz the exp from the boss instead. I was almost worried I had to actually use Colm to open doors then one of the bandits dropped a door key and I'm like, "oh hey awesome." while I was charging at the boss I got some extra goodies from those chests too. Overall, just glad I got another unit!
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: 28

Chapter 4: Ancient Horrors
xxxAww yeah, Got my first mage user in this game. Artur was such a beast killing dem beasts with his light magic. It was awesome having Eirika do enough damage not to kill them off, allowed for Neimi to get a lot of kills and get a level or two. Franz is just quickly becoming the beast cavalier he is and can basically be a one man army at this point. Not having a healer however makes things a bit hard since I rely on Vulneraries. Another chapter that was overall simply and straightforward. It's also nice to have the deploy menu now so I don't need to worry about having like 6 units I can't use on the field huddling in a corner.
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: 35

Chapter 5: The Empire's Reach
xxxThis chapter was a bit tougher than the previous couple chapters due to the fact that Joshua is a pain in the butt to kill when you don't want to recruit him. He made me restart the game a couple times due to the fact he kept dodging all my hits. (oh yeah now he dodges since I don't use him as a unit in this playthrough) Other than that, fighting the other enemy units wasn't that bad, Franz is continuing to beast it up on the battlefield. Neimi and Artur are getting a couple levels but I still need to be cautious with them since they are still pretty fragile as of now but on the bright side I got my first promotion item I need for my drafted units!
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: 45

Chapter 5x: Unbroken Heart
xxxEphraim lime light time! This chapter, I probably finished it fastest of the chapters so far. I blazed through this map with Orson and Ephraim fighting side by side. Orson made speeding through this chapter a lot easier and Ephraim managed to gain 5 levels in this chapter so I'm pretty satisfied.
Turns: 14
Total Turn Count: 59

Chapter 6: Victims of War
xxxThis was a really really fun chapter (sarcasm). This chapter was a bit tough for Neimi and Artur since they were so fragile. I had to reset many times due to the fact they kept dying and sometimes Eirika too. I finally manage to arrive to the boss after a while, it was a lot easier on that attempt since I actually didn't rush as stupidly and actually took into account of terrain and all that jazz this time. My main goal really for this chapter was to just finish it before the spider got to the civilians and get my Orion's Bolt, so MISSION SUCCESS. First challenging chapter, besides the failures from the prologue and 1st chapter. Also I tried to use Eirika less in this chapter and probably will from now on since she's level 11 and I don't want her leveling toooo fast since her promotion item won't be for a long time. Pus Neimi and Artur needs some of dat exp.
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: 66

Chapter 7: Waterside Renvall
xxxThis chapter was pretty straight forward nothing amazing happened. Franz charged through the enemy to the ballista and easily took the guy out while Neimi, Artur, and Eirika were picking off the stragglers and the battle against Murray was simple too. Franz being lvl 16 totally owned him with a lance to the face. Also got my Knight Cret for Franz to promote! a couple more levels and I can promote him awww yeah. Overall Artur and Neimi got some decent levels
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: 76

Chapter 8:It's a Trap!
xxxThis chapter wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Clearing out enemies wasn't a tough challenge at all. The room with the chest that had 5 knights I just equipped Franz with an armor slayer and shoved him in the front and he cleared the whole room by himself, pretty sweet I must say. When Ephraim arrived with Kyle and Forde, Ephraim took the front lines to kill the close enemies and had him Kyle and Forde just ride towards the rest of the group at the top right corner. I ignored one whole section of the map due to the fact it'd probably would've taken me a longer if I had units help Ephraim and he couldn't have been able to take on all those Cavaliers by himself...i don't think at least, maybe he could've but oh well. Tirado was a chump fighting against my awesomely beastly Franz and equipped with that armor slayer he went down in no time. Overall an easy chapter, looking forward to Eirika's route now and getting the rest of my draft team slowly.
Turns: 9
Total Turn Count: 85

Chapter 9: Distant Blade
xxxWoo, got my next draft unit and she's a beast too. Tana leveled up 4 times for me in this chapter just mauling down those enemy units while making sure she's out of bow range of course. This chapter I think could've been done faster if it wasn't for the fact of my growth rates of my units that I didn't realize until this chapter. NEIMI HASN'T HAD A SINGLE STR INCREASE EVER asdfasjdfakljdfa;ljdfa;lskdjfakllsjdkjdfaf. Eirika's Fragility is starting to become a problem too which made me reset a couple times. Other than that, I got Franz to promote to a Paladin! Artur is beginning to easily kill enemy units with his magic powers, I'm expecting to get him into a bishop soon which means HEALER.
Turns: 15
Total Turn Count: 100

Chapter 10: Revolt at Carcino
xxxThis chapter took a while for me because Eirika kept dying. I had to restart this chapter many times, quite challenging indeed. I sent Tana down to Innes and the others as fast as I could so they killed as little as possible, they only killed two enemy units as NPC's luckily. I brought Franz down there just incase too for back up power, but Tana actually powered through them well by herself. Luckily she got her Lance rank up to C just before the Fighters were in range so she was able to use dat axereaver, perfect timing indeed. I'm still disappointed in Neimi because she still isn't getting any str in her level ups, 7 more levels until she hits 20. She really really better get some str or I'll be sad. I also got my guiding ring for Knoll even though he's a couple chapters in the future.
Turns: 14
Total Turn Count: 114

Chapter 11: Creeping in Darkness
xxxThis chapter was tough took me a while to beat. All my resets once again were basically from Eirika dying UGH. Neimi finally got a str point at least so I'm happy about that, I'm still hoping for her to gain more str in her next levels before I promote her
Turns: 15
Total Turn Count:129

Chapter 12: Village of Silences
xxxThis chapter wasn't so bad, I had to reset once cause Eirika died right at the end of it. The second attempt I wanted the other character sto get more exp so I left out Franz and Dozla to see how things will work out. I don't know if I did the chapter in the most optimal way but I'm satisfied with how things turned out. EWAN GAVE ME A FREAKING ENERGY RING AND I SHOVED IT IN NEIMI'S FACE. She finally has some better fighting power now. I just really hope she give some more str at least in her last couple levels before I promote her. Other than that, Tana and Artur working out really nicely. Oh yeah, I also got a support between Neimi and Artur that's probably going to help a bit in future battles.
Turns: 18
Total Turn Count: 147

Chapter 13: Hamill Canyon
xxxThis chapter turned out to be easier than I thought. Kinda sucked that I had to wait for Cormag to appear and take his elysian whip before I could finish the chapter, but luckily I did that all in one turn. Tana and Artur got to lvl 20! So they are both promoted now, Tana being a Wyvern Knight and Artur being a Bishop. Woo second healer. I just need to promote Neimi now who's still a couple levels away. I'll attempt to promote her in the next chapter...hopefully.
Turns: 6
Total Turn Count: 153

Chapter 14: Queen of White Dunes
xxxThis chapter wasn't that bad either, would probably liked to finish this sooner than I had hoped but Carlyle dodged my attacks a couple more times than I had hoped but on the bright side it bought enough time for Neimi to reach level 20 and promote so I think I'll just keep it as it is and be satisfied with the chapter over all. Now everyone is promoted so far, besides Eirika!...until I get Knoll and Ephraim, but I digress
Turns: 14
Total Turn Count: 167

Chapter 15: Scorched Sand
xxxThis chapter took some time for me to finally beat. Knoll and Eirika were my main problems. Knoll being very fragile with crappy defence died a couple times. I'm pretty satisfied with the turn count I got for this chapter. It was nice that all my units started close to Callaech, I sent mst of them in that direction to take care of the units exept for Tana. I sent her in the complete opposite direction of the map and she basically tanked that whole area and basically the top for the rest of the chapter, soo awesome. After I took out the units surrounding Callaech I moved the rest of the units downwards towards the area where Ephraim, Knoll, and Duessel would appear and kept Saleh and Artur to take out Callaech by themselves. I basically had on attack while the other would heal and eventually took down Callaech. I was afraid of the reinforcements that flanked my units but they actually weren't that bad. Eirika ALMOST died but survived with one HP WHEW. Then it was straight forward from there, literally. My units just charged at Valter and Franz dealt him so much damage like a boss, probably getting revenge for Seth or something *shrug* then I sent in Neimi for the final blow. Overall a very challenging chapter to me, but it was fun nonetheless.
Turns: 12
Total Turn Count: 179

Chapter 16: Ruled by Madness
xxxAnd with this chapter I finally got all my units for the draft! This chapter wasn't all that bad, Eirika just died a couple times but i think that was more of my fault because I rushed with her a bit too often. For this chapter I split my party into two teams, all my ground units took the front and charged in that way while my mounted units went around and charged in through the door at the top left area. Knoll, Eirika, and Ephraim got decent levels but didn't hit 20 yet so I I think I'll actually wait till level 20 for all of them which is hopefully next chapter.
Turns: 14
Total Turn Count: 193

Chapter 17: River of Regrets
xxxThis chapter was pretty easy, Eirika and Ephraim both promoted in this chapter. It took a bit logner than I thought but I was kinda greedy and wanted Knoll to get a bit more exp before I finished the battle. I had Myrrh just take on Lyon by herself with Artur healing her which basically took one of my turn and a turn of the enemy. None of the reinforcements really
Turns: 9
Total Turn Count: 202

Chapter 18: Two Faces of Evil
xxxThis chapter was fairly easy not much to really say about it. I split my team into three groups. All my mounts basically went to the top of the map as fast as they could to quickly take out all the units up there. My ground units were split into two routes but basically went towards the bottom of the map and the place was cleared really fast. Thank god for mounts in this chapter.
Turns: 7
Total Turn Count: 209

Chapter 19: Last Hope
xxxTactic for the chapter: Don’t worry about defense and charge straight for Riev. The tactic worked really well and the monsters weren’t as tough as I thought. With that I managed to finish it probably the fastest I’ve ever done lol. Not much else to say about this chapter.
Turns: 3
Total Turn Count: 212

Chapter 20: Darkling Woods
xxxHooray for flier units! I think the fact I had Tana made thigs so much easier. With her I ferried units over to the area where Riev and Morva. With mah mages and Tana plus Myrrh, Easily cleaned up the monsters around there plus Riev and Morva. It just took some time to ferry and kill at the same time but I think I finished it in a pretty fast manner so I’m saitsfied.
Turns: 10
Total Turn Count: 222

Final Chapter: Sacred Stone
xxxThis chapter was not that difficult at all, It took a couple turns just to get all the way to Lyon while killing all the monsters to get to him. The second part of the chapter was super easy and took two turns cause the first turn I had to move my units towards Fomortiis and it took one turn to kill him off.
Turns: 7+2= 9
Total Turn Count: 231

Total Turn Count: 231

Final Comments: Overall this was a pretty fun challenge, I guess in a way it was testing my ability and my tactics of the game. I actually learned some interesting new techniques or methods to doing stuff in this game that I never thought about doing before which made it interesting. So it was kind of a learning experience for me too I guess. I think my MVP unit for this game has got to be Tana, she was amazing from the start and without her my turn count would most likely be a lot higher than it is right now. Plus, her stats I think came out to be pretty amazing this play though, I kinda wonder how she would've turned out at 20/20. Also I doubled checked my turn counts at the end of the chapter and the numbers should match up accordingly now. I would take a screenshot of it for you guys but I'm not playing an emulator but on the real DS so can't really do that. You guys will just have to take my word for it. lol

FE8 Draft
Draftees: Vanessa, Lute, Natasha, Amelia, Marisa, Rennac, Ewan

Prologue
→ Some nice critical hits sped things along. Not much to report. She got some wicked sweet level-ups.
Chapter Turns: 2
Total Turns: 2
Available Units: Eirika

Chapter 1
→ Again, not much to report. Gilliam got slashed in the a** near the end, but he didn't kill his attacker, so Mel gave the all-clear. I was trying to pull his lardass out of the way, I swear. Otherwise, Eirika continues to critical-hit things and generally be quite impressive. Especially that Strength growth. Hmmm.
Chapter Turns: 5
Total Turns: 7
Available Units: Eirika

Chapter 2
→ Had to do some finicky positioning with Vanessa to make things move along. I also managed to get that lower village! Ross was killed off as an Other, but Garcia managed to live. Good on ya, I guess. Too many axes to give Vanessa many levels yet.
Chapter Turns: 6
Total Turns: 13
Available Units: Eirika, Vanessa

Chapter 3
→ Recruited Colm with Neimi after dumping her stuff, got the chests, blasted my way through. Pretty, uh, straighforward. I ignored the Bandit with the Door Key in favor of turn count. I might've wasted one at the beginning, though. Oh well... Vanessa got some nice level-ups, though. Even if she did miss a ~40% on that Bandit squatting on the throne that kept me from shaving a turn off of my turncount!
Chapter Turns: 13
Total Turns: 26
Available Units: Eirika, Vanessa

Chapter 4
→ Artur dumped his stuff, got the village. Ended up dying off. Oops. I kept him behind my other units while I tried to attack, so he certainly wasn't being used as a meatshield. They just kinda worked their way around. xP It actually went quicker than the previous chapter, which I didn't quite see coming, but I'm sure as hell not gonna complain! Vanessa also got herself some very nice level-ups. Both girls are looking good. I never safely made it to the village, so Lute will just join next chapter. Fine with me.
Chapter Turns: 8
Total Turns: 34
Available Units: Eirika, Vanessa

FE8 Draft
Draftees: Vanessa, Lute, Natasha, Amelia, Marisa, Rennac, Ewan

Previous installments: Part 1

Chapter 5
→ Vanessa's mobility was extremely useful. Lute got herself some decent experience taking down Soldiers and some bandits. Eirika dodged Joshua's initial attack and criticaled him in return to kill him in one hit. Sorry, Joshua. I like using you in normal games! The rest of the level was relatively mundane, though I did end up losing a turn having to save Vanessa in order to keep her from dying. Turncount is unsure here, as I forgot to screencap, but I do believe it was somewhere around 6-8. Maybe 9 but I can't be sure.

User ImagexUser ImagexUser Image
User ImagexUser ImagexUser Image

Total Turns: 34 + ???

Chapter 5x
→ It went pretty uneventfully, thanks to Orson's presence. Ephraim didn't get that many levels due to the necessity of saving turns. It was pretty straightforward otherwise.

User ImagexUser ImagexUser ImagexUser Image

Total Turns: 46 + ???

Chapter 6
→ Vanessa was super useful throughout. Natasha's slowly getting her levels; using the Torch staff every turn she didn't need to heal someone really helped. I predict there will be similar results when I hopefully can get my hands on a Barrier staff or two. Lute also got herself some good mileage in this chapter. She'll be high enough to promote eventually!

User ImagexUser ImagexUser ImagexUser Image

Total Turns: 53 + ???

Chapter 7
→ Vanessa goes <******** your mountains. Pick up Eirika, drop her off on the other side, let Lute and Natasha mop up the units along the bottom line of terrain. She managed just fine on her own, actually. My little Mage is growin' up! Sold off the Orion's Bolt I got at the chapter-end for some extra cash.

User ImagexUser ImagexUser Image

Total Turns: 59 + ???

Chapter 8
→ I retried the chapter a few times, and I eventually cut down my turn count from 14. I'm quite happy with my run thus far. I'm sure if I really focused I could get it even more streamlined, but whatever. Vanessa, once again, was a godsend; I sent her along to fight with Ephraim, she carried him over the water, and then he took out the General boss in order to give Eirika a nice path of bodies to walk over to get to the throne. Natasha and Lute also got some sweet levels. Colm just came along to open a chest along the way.

Part 2 of FE8 Draft

Chapter 9 16 turns/125 turns total.
Forde getting a critical cut down the time to take down the boss by a turn or 2.

Chapter 10 16 turns + 4 turn penalty (Gerik)=20 turns/145 turns total.
Gerik killed quite a few units as an NPC and once recruited. I won't count his actions as an NPC, but I will count the player side kills thus the penalty on myself.

Chapter 11 15 turns/160 turns total.
Garcia promoted to Hero. All of Dozla's kills were as an NPC thus no penalty. Forde reached level 20.

Chapter 12 17 turns/177 turns total
Forde promoted to Paladin. Had some problems with reinforcements.

Chapter 13 12 turns/189 turns total
Recruited Cormag. Give some props to Tethys for dodging quite a few attacks.

Chapter 14 24 turns/213 turns total
Ow...wish I knew Innes+Silver Bow=good. a few turns sooner...

Chapter 15 14 Turns+4 turns Penalty (Knoll)=18 turns/231 Turns total
Knoll killed a unit. Cormag promoted at level 18. Ephraim got to level 20

FE8 Draft
Draftees: Vanessa, Lute, Natasha, Amelia, Marisa, Rennac, Ewan

Previous installments: Part 1
Part 2

Chapter 9
→ Had to redo the chapter a couple of times to get things to work. Eventually managed to get it to cooperate by ferrying Franz across the ocean with Tana in order to have him recruit Amelia. Lute, once again, acts as Natasha's bodyguard. Eirika soaks up some EXP, but considering we're here for least amount of turns taken, it's a passable thing right now.

And then I took some time to level Amelia up in the Tower. Natasha got a level in the process.

Chapter 10
→ I cannot count how many times I had to restart this chapter for whatever reason. Usually it was because Lute had died, though once or twice it was because of Marisa. Eventually I did manage to get the level beaten without pulling my hair out too much, though I did have a couple of close calls near the end with low hit points and units that I thought were going to shoot Vanessa down, but it didn't happen. Guess she's just too badass. I need an Elysian Whip...

So I dunno WHAT the hell happened with my PSP, but 90% of my data from all my games got deleted. I've been able to salvage a little bit of stuff, but unfortunately, I couldn't salvage any FE8 data. Now this pisses me off cause I was almost done and wanted to complete the draft. Unfortunately, due to this, I'm gonna have to drop out. I am truly sorry about this, and I guess I kinda deserve it in a way. Been pretty negative about some other things, and karma came and bit me in the a**. -shrug- Once again, I truly am sorry, and I wish the remaining three the best of luck.

If you were almost done, then you were leagues ahead of the others and could easily catch up if you restarted, couldn't you?

Yeah. The draft isn't about actual time spent beating the game; otherwise one of us would've likely pulled an all-nighter and beaten the game as soon as the draft picks were entirely confirmed. You could definitely catch up; you were really blazing through the game as it is, and the rest of us are only halfway through the game. Those early chapters barely take any time, too.

Yeah Nick you can do it. smile Don't believe in the Mel that believes you. Believe in the Nick who believes in himself. (I always wanted to pull a Kamina even since watching Gurren Lagann.)

To be fair though, I started pretty much when the draft picks were finalized so I DID technically have a head start in a way.
