-grasshopper pie Hey, Kaname, I was wondering- do all battles need to be between two people? and if so, do they all have to be IC?
I know they're necessary for growth, but I can't see Nyiim willingly starting a battle and trying to kill someone. xD;
Answer
Battles so far have been sparring matches, where no one is aiming to kill or maim but just to train together, though they can be out of anger if they choose so. They can be 2 or more people (battle royal style or teams) and can include NPCs or other characters. It does, as of right now, have to be another person as an opponent, beast battles falls under a different category of requirement generally speaking.

If, say, I'm in a rp or writing a solo for a character, can they use spells, such as a light spell for lighting up a dark room, or a plant spell to help grow a garden? Little magic things like that?
Answer
For RP purposes, most spells can be used without a problem. Spells involving anything that would be considered "dark" like demon summoning, cursing, or anything like that is not allowed, but spells involving nature and elements are perfectly fine.

I know I keep asking breeding questions, but I just had to clarify this for my sanity. |3
You have said that hybrid Alkidikes born from lotuses have a better chance of being allowed to travel to the Isles with the other Alkidikes. But, while that is perfectly reasonable, I couldn't help wondering how hybrid Alkidikes could not be born from lotuses if one of the parents was a full blooded Alkidike.
Is it possible for a hybrid Alkidike to be born from the Earthling breeding process, or is it because one of the parents was already a hybrid Alkidike and they were born naturally that way?
I.E. Can an Alkidike become pregnant like an Earthling and produce a child that way? Or is it only possible if a hybrid Alkidike, most likely male, has a child naturally with an Earthling woman?
Answer
It's exactly that. An Alkidike hybrid would only not be born from a lotus if it were the child of a male Alkidike hybrid. On rare occassions it could be a child from a female hybrid, if she were born with reproductive organs. Alkidikes don't have any, and as such wouldn't be able to ever reproduce without Aisha. There's always the chance that hybrid children, no matter what generation or gender, could be born sterile.
Alkidike hybrids like Teliuj, where there is less than 1/2 Alkidike have more of a chance to be able to become pregnant, even though they were directly born from a lotus.

Hey, look! Another breeding based question! (I hope you don't mind that I keep asking about this. |3)
This one is about surrogacy. Now, lets say Natsu and Viveka want to have a child together once they reach the right point in their relationship. They would need a surrogate for that. But, does the surrogate have to be an already existing character, like they are? Or can the surrogate be an IC character they both know but isn't an official character?
The same question applies to a male donor. <3
Answer
Using an already existing character is encouraged and something we would prefer to see, but if you can't find someone who would like to take on the role of surrogate/donor, we do allow RP based characters. All breeding has to have at least one RP discussing the idea of having a baby/finding surrogate/something breeding related before being able to be considered, as a thought to keep in mind.

Two random questions that have been floating around in my mind! |3
1. Can there be twin Alkidikes? Either born from the same Lotus or two different ones. :3
2. More of an art related question. I've noticed that there are some characters that had different Youngling bases when they were younger. (I found them while digging through the Archives forum. |3) Were those bases discontinued or are they for special occasions or something?
Answer
1. That would be extremely rare, but generally speaking, fraternal twins would be born from two separate lotuses, and identical twins would be born from the same lotus if it were to happen. It's not impossible, just not at all common.
2. They are discontinued bases used when the shop first started before the reopening. Some of those bases were relined to fit the new shop, but the others will not be used again.

This question relates to RP-Earned edits. If I want to edit a weapon's design, or something equally unusual or drastic, how much surplus RP would that 'cost'?
By editing a design, i mean that it would be the same weapon, but have a special look, design, or attribute.
IE: Beads with patterns on them or a sword with a design on the hilt, instead of the usual plain colorations they have at Simple level.
Answe
Edits like that are simple enough, though like with all other edits they wouldn't show until the next stage art. Things that don't require changing the lines, such as bead color and a color design, would only be 1 RP.

Meta mechanic related questions:
Can characters hawk wares? For example, can Dyakida be selling and trading weapons for RP's sake at the fairground?
Answer
For the sake of RPing, yes Dyakida can indeed. As well as anyone else who is interested in becoming an artisan of some kind. They cannot however, earn any monetary value from this. You can't actually sell things in the meta as a spectator.

Now I'm back on breeding questions. |3 These questions only apply to couples who are using a surrogate or a male donor.
Earthlings are only allowed to breed twice in their lifetime, but what does that mean for a couple using a surrogate/male donor? Since they are the couple requesting the help of the surrogate/male donor, does that mean that-
A. Both partners and the surrogate/male donor all use one breeding spot B. The partner who gets pregnant or gets the surrogate pregnant and the surrogate/donor lose a breeding spot, not the partner that is not involved in the actual baby making.
Basically, if there is only one partner getting pregnant or getting the surrogate pregnant, do all three characters use one of their breedings or just the donor/surrogate and the partner who is involved with them?
Also, if one partner uses the same donor/surrogate and uses both breedings, is their partner then allowed to find another donor/surrogate for their breedings as well?
Answer
Surrogacy/donating is a tricky issue, but the limitations are supposed to stand for those intending to be parents. So while you may find a surrogate, that person will not use a breeding slot, because they won't be taking care of the child. So in short: the two parents use a breeding slot, not the donor/surrogate. (since the donor/surrogate could actually not even exist as a playable character it's not a fair loophole for anyone)

In a battle, is it possible to have character's spectating? Like, posting at a certain point in the turn if they wish?
IE, in the Briella/Aminah/Biroki/Zuri battle, can Dyakida and Peyla be present and posting, or would such a thing be reserved for a solo or an accompanying RP?
Would it count towards anything?
Answer
Spectating in the same thread as the battle becomes confusing and complicated. If Dyakida would like to solo out her watching the battle, that's totally acceptable, or having a successive RP between some/all members of the battle and Dyakida discussing the battle is fine. (but try to keep spectators out of the actual battle thread)

Another battle thing. Nobody pestered me, so I'm assuming not, but do non battle classes have to have stats?
Answer
If they are not planning on ever battling, even for fun (with a dagger or knives), they do not have to have stats at all. For the sake of the meta, everyone can participate, requiring those without stats to create them temporarily. If your non-combat class does want to battle occassionally, they can roll for stats and use stat boosters, but they will not be able to add points through growth.

RP questions:
What are the marriage/pair bonding customs like for the inhabitants of Tendaji? Do the different tribes have different ones?
Do Male-female pairbonding rituals differ from male-male or Female-female rituals?
Are there rituals for surrogacy or donorship?
What are the customs towards children?
In other words, how does one make a pairing or birth 'official' in the eyes of the tribe instead of lovers or, as in Kei and Chal's case, 'happy accidents'?
Also, do these differ when halfbreeds are involved?
Answer
All races and species of Tendaji have a marriage ceremony, though they can range from area to area. The Alkidike gather around Aisha and swear they're spirits to each other, usually in privacy, though in special occasions with guests. The Shifters, Leaf, and Water earthlings all have large parties/celebrations where entire villages join in on the fun and dancing, drinking and partying late into the night surrounded by bonfires. The Wind and Ice earthlings celebrations can range from very small (in the case of wind nomads) to very large. It is a celebration in the same sense, though the wind earthlings seal their vows with a decorative wreath that each wear, connected by ribbons to one another.
Oban weddings are probably by far the most formal, having the marriage ceremony, then a dinner with partying afterward (sort of like by today's standards) though their parties are still large and rambunctious with lots of drinking and fun.
Same sex celebrations are the same as heterosexual ones. No one is shunned from creating a bond with one another.
Surrogacy and donorship are intimate choices in a couple's relationship and one does not require a ritual or any sort of announcement of the choice.
Children born "in wedlock" and out don't really have ceremonies. Their villages of course will wish them good luck, and there will be gifts delivered to their houses from the rest of the village, but there is no official 'ceremony' of sorts to announce the child.
The only way a half breed would change the ritual at all would be if it were an Alkidike x Earthling relationship. This would cause more controversy and would have to be dealt with as to whether they share in Aisha's or Earthling's wedding rituals, both of which would probably be smaller than usual do to the unconventional circumstances. In mixed earthling marriages, there could also be some controversy, but not nearly enough to cause a stir or change in ceremony.

What are some of the burial/funeral/death customs of the peoples of Tendaji?
When there is a war, do people pay respect to the opposing side's dead?
Answer
A lot of it is just burials in cemetery like lots of land. The Alkidike take their Sisters back to the Islands where they have a night ceremony, bringing them back to Aisha, and then floating them off to sea on a pyre. The earthlings have funerals and bury their dead, leaving a stone marker in their place. They usually bury their deceased and pass their belongings down to kin during the ceremony. Each earthling tribe uses a specific burial blanket during their funerals.
When the opposing side falls, the side left will line the bodies up for their family to collect, but they don't really pay much more respect than that. They do not desecrate bodies or (typically) pillage after battle.

Is there a monetary currency in Tendaji, or is it all bartering?
Answer
A lot of it is bartering, but there is currency. It is widely used gold and silver pieces. The currency doesn't differ between earthlings and Alkidike, though Alkidike prefer to barter between Sisters and take gold from earthlings. There is much more currency exchange in Zena than in the rest of Tendaji.

What is a solo?
Answer
A solo is an RP containing only your character. The solo can include familiars and wild animals (not owned by anyone else) or include characters that are NOT owned by anyone (including yourself) such as parents/random encounters/etc. Solos should not include the same characters over and over again.
