Sasha took the bottle of water in exchange for the paper, though she was hesitant to relinquish it.
Instead of drinking her water, though, the cool exterior of the plastic was immediately pressed to her temple in an attempt to cease the pounding in her skull. "Thanks for the w-water, Bix."

"No problem." He wiped his hands free of condensation on his jeans and held the paper, squinting as he tried to make out the smudged parts. Most of the names he didn't know. He was trying to make out what 'Line' was next to his own name but it was pretty unrecognizable.
"I know my mom wouldn't be involved in this." He said it softly. "She's not like that. She's wonderful and.. normal. So normal. If.. if she was involved I don't think she knew." He glanced at Jerry and then at Sasha. "We are still ourselves you guys." It was like he needed to reassure them. "Getting the truth doesn't mean that we are any different." Unless they were experimented on or something...as babies. best not to think like that. "And whoever raised you still loved you and cared for you." He was reassuring them as much as himself.
It was easy for him to say, considering his mother was alive and well.

"M'sorry," Jerry murmured quietly to Sasha as Bix returned. As they chatted, he stayed quiet.
He was tired.
Tired of thinking. Tired of worrying. Tired of everything.
He wanted to hold his guitar and have a picnic and it all sounded embarrassingly impractical. So instead he sighed, rubbing his face again before moving the water bottle so he could lay down.
Nothing to do but wait.

Sasha squinted at Jerry through half-closed eyes. She felt bad for not being there for him, but she felt just as lost as he looked. When Bix started speaking softly of his mother, Sasha sighed.
"I wish I'd known my mother. I'm... my papa never said anything to me about being a hunter, or my mother being a hunter -- or anything about hunters, and certainly never anything a-about a breeding program. I mean.. I just.."
She fell silent, still holding the bottle to her head as she checked her phone for a response she knew wasn't there.

Sasha jumped when the phone rang. She fumbled with it for a few seconds before answering it with a hesitant, "Hello?"

"Sasha, what's distressing you, my dear?" The doctor's voice rolled smoothly over the line, as a staccato of gunfire erupted briefly in the background.

"Well.. sir, it sounds like you're busy, I mean, okay sir this can wait until you're back sir, honestly." Was that the sound of gunfire? He was .. was he really calling her back in the middle of some sort of gunfight?

"Sasha," the doctor's voice was stern, "tell me what's wrong."

"Well sir a group went topside and f-found a p-piece of paper and it says something about breeding lines and ...doctor my name is on it and so is Jerry's name and we think Bix's name is on it too," she finally took a breath, audibly on the verge of tears, "and it's just a big mistake, right? W-we.. I just.. what does it mean?"
Do not cry, Sasha Antoinette Belrose. Do not cry.

Jerry tensed on the bed, sitting up again to watch Sasha carefully. He couldn't hear the other end but... this was a start, at least.

There was a thoughtful pause, and the the doctor finally answered, "I see, yes you're correct, this isn't something I can go into detail over the phone. When I get back, come see me in my office and I'll explain. Until then, don't let whatever you've seen cause you to doubt yourself. You're stronger than that and nothing has changed." Another round of gunfire and then an explosion, screams can be heard in the distance. The doctor sighed, "And now I'm afraid I must get back to work. I'll see you when I get back."
Another explosion.
Dialtone.

"W-woo-woo-what did he say?" Jerry whispered urgently, sitting upright now as he stared at her, his hands shaking.

Sasha winced at the sudden barrage of gunfire, explosions and screams. Wherever the doctor was, whatever he was doing, it was probably way more important than this.
Probably.
"He's b-busy. There was s-some gunfire and ... he said that when he comes back to see him in his office because it ... it wasn't something he could ah.. it wasn't something he could go into detail over the phone." Stronger than that and nothing has changed. It didn't really make her feel... that much better, but... hearing the doctor's voice, even across the phone line, it'd helped. She glanced between Jerry and Bix, mouth tight and face pale.
"I'm going above ground."
That being said, Sasha slipped her phone back into her pocket and checked to make sure that Nona was securely clasped in her hair before she turned an immediate about-face, marching off.

Jerry bit his lip as she started to leave, rocking unsteadily to his feet, "S-sasha, w-wait! Ah... It... it sounds like we'll worry about it um. Later at any rate," He turned back to Bix, an apologetic look, "I... I sh-should... I'll... I'll t-tal to you later, alright? We'll... we'll all see him together. T-tell Molly-olly-olly we-" He shook his head, trying to clear it and knock his mouth muscles in order, "Tell Molly we talked to you about it if you see her, I should... make sure Sasha is alright um. If you're... you're staying here in the b-bunks, could you m-make sure no one b-bothers my guitar? It's... under the bed at the end," He motioned frantically. Stumbling, he gave him a small wave, chasing after the girl with a worried expression.
