Votremere Oh, man. As far as races go, I've always played the human, or most human-like race. That's because they're pretty much the default race, and by default it means they're very balanced. I don't often have time to join parties and go on extended quests, so soloing is a pretty big portion of my time on these MMOs. I need a balanced character to pretty much ensure I've got a decent chance of survival on my own. Contrary to this logic, I often choose the weakest damned classes, lol. I love a thief class. Short-range weapons, not the best armor, nobody wants you in the party until you get a special skill, like, 20 damned levels on... It was suicidal. But I loved it. I also played a Red Mage, which was pretty much the middle ground. Decent attack, decent healing magic, decent offensive magic. Could I attack as well as a Warrior class? Hell no. Heal as well as a priest? Hell no. Do as much magic damage as a black mage? Hell no. But I could work in a pinch, if no other was immediately available. I was the master of flexibility. sounds like FFXI? I played that for a while. Loved my Mithra um... i forget what class i used then.... think i was a white mage though... or holy or something like that... i'm also guessing people who were hardcore tauren lovers from wow will probably gravitate to the charrs. that should help make things easy to find other players as the game goes live.

I'm the opposite of Votremere. I always want to be part of an exotic race. I guess the idea of being something completely different is attractive for me. I also enjoy discovering their cultures.
I'm not too picky with classes however. In WoW I've played all kinds, from the tanky warrior to the healing priest to a feral druid. As long as I enjoy the class and feel I can roleplay with it, it's good.

Yeah, it was FFXI. It was the only MMORPG I played for more than a year, but I had to quit it after I moved and just couldn't get an internet connection in forever. I was paying for the game for half a year without even playing it before I decided I just wouldn't pay anymore. Yeah, Mithra. The cat people. Very high agility, good for the ranger and thief class. I never played WoW. I have a sister who loves WoW and my significant other has a... I think a troll shaman or something? I really should try it, what with the free up to level 20 deal.

Very tiny little things, kinda looked like monchchis. Almost zero physical strength but very high intelligence to start, so it was optimal for anyone looking to start with a magic-based class. It was completely the opposite of what I'm used to, but it was interesting. It was sort of a learning experience. Enjoyable, overall. Plus, playing to its weakest stats was almost comical. In FFXI, you could choose the height of your character, too, from what I can recall... and some people had the tiniest of the tiny Tarutaru acting as tanks. It was funny to see what was essentially a little furball being aggressive to some giant behemoth, then run screaming back to the rest of the party.

What I like about GW2 though is that all races can be all classes. I think it'd be a shame if you wanted to be an Asura Guardian or a Human Engineer and have a shortcoming against other races.

This sounds like my kinda game. I'll definitely check it out.

Durring the las beta weekend I tried every class, and I must say, my two favs were the hunter class and the theif class, though I already know my first two race/class combos, Charr Warrior and an Elemental Silvari

Currently I'm testing out a human ele on beta cause I hear they're awesome. I really want to try a charr engineer and a norn (most likely necro). I have no plans on trying asura but I do want to try either a sylvari necro or mesmer. Mmm necroness<3

I am going to start with a Charr Engineer, even though I know they will be super common. I think I might go Sylvari Mesmer after that, but I am not sure.
