Looking a bit confused at Yasashi's chuckle as he offered his teaching services, Shinji wore a strange look of confusion, but continued on anyway, dropping the gathered supplies on the desk. Once Yasashi replied however and began to explain why he would not be able to help, Shinji's mood was instantly affected. He had felt so sly offering his expertise before, and now Yasashi had revealed that no part of Shinji's knowledge or training could assist him in learning. Shinji found himself simultaneously disappointed and embarrassed to have been shown up so casually and his heart dropped a bit, sucking away some of his enthusiasm.

Yasashi was kind enough not to dwell on the matter and turned Shinji's attention to the woman in the shop, who he turned to on his mention, ready to introduce himself formally. However, whether due to random chance or this sudden weakening of his resolve, Shinji suddenly felt a large spike of pain shoot through his entire body. Suddenly, his body was arrested, his muscles simultaneously constricting all at once in reaction to the intense pains which flooded his system. Struggling to endure the pain, Shinji's eyes closed as he grit his teeth, trying with all his might to make the reaction as subtle as possible while two people looked on at him. His body shaking as a reaction, the pain, which felt like streams of lava flowing through his veins heightened, making him sweat profusely. All he could do however was endure it, locked inside the debilitating effect of his bloodline.

What seemed like an hour to Shinji passed in several seconds and finally he had control of himself again. Breathing heavily as the effects of the pain still lingered in his body, Shinji felt weakened, but pushed through his debilitated state to bow to Kye in a standard introduction... "Pleased to meet you ma'am, my name is Konaga,Shinji."

User ImageBefore he was able to continue however, Kye cut him off quickly... "I know who you are young Konaga... you are Seijiro's boy, the new Clan Head of the Konaga. We have met before in fact, I believe you were 8 at the time, though I doubt you would remember me. Your father threw a celebration for your birthday and invited me as a guest. I doubt you would recognize me from that though... I looked very different back then." For a moment it looked like Shinji was trying to recall the event, but was drawing a blank to the mysterious woman who had attended his birthday. The mention of it brought memories back to his mind, but none that would corroborate her story... not that it needed to be.

"A friend of my father's eh? Well, then I suppose you know all about the Konaga and how we like to stay in one place. I suppose that makes me an oddity, travelling to a far away land to train under the leadership of a village I don't know." Kye smiled at the comment, a brief grin of amusement as Shinji tested her knowledge in an obvious manner... "Hmmph, nice try young Konaga, but I assure you there is no need to test my knowledge of your people. The symptoms you just presented, you froze for about 3 seconds, your breathing is heavy due to the simultaneously constriction of all of your muscles... a coping mechanism your body has developed to brace itself to the oncoming pain. I'm guessing you feel sluggish and weak at the moment... had it been any worse, I'm guessing you wouldn't even be able to use ninjutsu."

Shinji's head cocked to the side a bit as he listened in amazement to a complete foreigner describing the exact symptoms of the pain he had just experienced and the next level of debilitation which was possible regarding their bloodline's pain. Having passed his little test with flying colors, Shinji smiled widely and was happy to have met a friend of his fathers, one who apparently needed something from him. Having accepted the mantle of Clan Head, a while ago, Shinji was already prepared to assist a friend of his father's in any way he could... "Very impressive for a foreigner. My father must trust you immensely for you to have such detailed knowledge. I'd be more then happy to assist you with anything you need. How can I help?"

As the other two started their conversation, Yasashii began to skim his scrolls instead. After skimming all of them briefly, he settled on one to begin with, choosing the engraving technique, as it was very much the easiest to understand. Not to mention the most useful should he need to do something else in the meantime.

The jutsu itself was simple enough. Channel a small bit of chakra to the tip of your finger, pack it densely and make it sharp, and then hold it there while you carve something. Holding up one finger, he channeled the proper amount of chakra into his finger, and spent the next while working out how best to solidify it. Over time he managed to pack it down into the incredibly sharp, yet miniscule point that the jutsu called for.

While he was working on that, he turned his attention to the other's conversation just in time to hear Shinji's attempt to confuse Kye, and her response to it. "Don't try to lie to her." he chuckled, adding his own bit to the chatter. "Even if she doesn't know the truth, she always seems to know it's a lie." Shaking his head, still chuckling to himself, Yasashii turned back to his hand, and the point of chakra still on it.

Getting the chakra focused properly was simple enough, but would it hold form? Turning his hand over, he pushed his lit up finger towards the desk, aiming into a spot towards the side where it wouldn't matter too much if it messed up. Sure enough though, as soon as he applied pressure the blade broke form, some of the chakra dissipating, and some pushing back on his finger. It did however, as he noticed after dismissing the broken bits of chakra, leave a good nick in the desk.

Sighing, Yasashii leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes and thinking over the arrangement of the chakra. Something was wrong in it, making it unstable. Or perhaps it just didn't have the right spin to it? Spin... Opening his eyes, Yasashii looked over to Shinji. "Shinji, may I borrow a kunai for a bit?" he spoke. The jutsu needed to work on metal anyways, so he may as well test it on that first. If his idea worked, it should be perfect. [2.5/4]

Even before Shinji could respond to his request, Yasashii saw an incredibly bright flash through the windows outside, followed by a massive shock wave that threw him from his chair and onto the ground. Things in the room flew wildly about, And Yasashii was glad for an instant that he had stored his ink in the desk drawers, where it couldn't move enough to shatter the bottles. Outside though, he didn't expect people were so lucky. A blast wave that powerful had to have decimated the small stands, and would have thrown people on the streets flying. Already he could hear screams of pain beginning all around the market.

Pulling himself to his feet, Yasashii did a mental assessment of his own status. Nothing seemed to be broken, he could move as well as ever... Good. Looking at the other two, he was certain they were fine too. Shinji was a Konaga, so he wouldn't have even noticed if he was hurt, and Kye... Well, Kye was Kye. "Shinji, you should go find out what happened and help out. I'm going to see if I can do some good helping the wounded. I do have some tricks up my sleeve after all." The man winked at the Konaga, before grabbing his brush from the desk and heading out the door. He wouldn't worry about Kye. She would do what she pleased, and have a far better idea of what to do than he could suggest. For now, he would put his talents to use in helping those who couldn't help themselves.

Ready to answer any questions Kye might have to offer, his attention was soon diverted to the strange growing darkness of the sky outside the few windows in the shop. Before a thought could even form however, a bright light flashed and Shinji felt himself sent flying across the room into the wall by the shockwave of whatever force had landed outside. Shaking his head in confusion after hitting the wall, Shinji barely even processed any pain or sensation from the blast, but was surprised to see Kye standing exactly where she had been all along and Yasashi rushing out the door to help, suggesting that Shinji do the same himself.

Without much thought, Shinji answered the call, rushing outside to the streets, immediately climbing to the top of the emporium to survey what had occurred. Much to his surprise, Dark Clouds shrouded only a section of the village near it's center where the KazeKage's tower seemed to have been decimated by an enormous blast of some kind. His mind instantly flashing back to the dark skies of his own village's destruction, Shinji immediately sprinted towards the epicenter of the blast, remembering his promise to serve the Sunagakure as David had requested. Images of his own village's destruction rushed through his mind, and despite the differences he could see, the short time line between the events seemed suspicious to him. Regardless, Shinji moved faster and faster towards the site, his eyes keeping watch for enemy forces on the way.

As he ran, his blood pumped through him, his adrenaline kicking in as he felt his body kick into battle mode. Despite the seriousness of the situation, a sudden smile creeped across Shinji's face as the excitement of an oncoming battle flooded his veins. He would first have to meet up with David, then see how he could assist. Its possible that he himself was a victim of the attack, but he had already assumed that david would not be taken down so quickly. Either way, he would respond to this attack with the fury he had wished he would have been able to respond to the attack on his own village.

User ImageWhen Kye was jsut about to begin grilling Shinji on the intimate details of the Iwagakure's destruction, she was stopped short but the sudden prickling of hairs on the back of her neck standing up. With the darkening of the skies outside, Kye looked out, her mind almost instantly connecting the dots to the point where the enormous strike of lightning from the sky was almost expected. However, unlike her Otogakure comrade and Shinji, Kye didn't even move an inch in the wake of the blast... her firm body and stable footing whethering the blast without much difficulty as she continued to stare out the window, her mind racing with the technique that she herself had learned, yet never used against anyone... "Raiden no Moui... but who beside myself could use such a technique... and why would they be attacking Sunagakure?"

Even as she was staring out the window asking the question, Yasa had quickly reacted, flying out the door to help the injured as Shinji followed, likely charging headlong into battle without a second thought. Kye however acted more slowly, her mind racing through the probabilities as she assessed the situation. "An S-ranked Raiton technique attacking the Sunagakure not half a year after a Jiton user crushes the Iwagakure..." The thought growing in her mind, Kye was still mindful that no one around her knew who she was, or what she was capable of and she wished to keep it this way. However, before she left the emporium, she readied several scrolls containing her Iron Sand before heading outdoors into the streets, finding fleeing groups of people as she blended into the crowds. Instantly hidden among the masses, Kye would make her way secretly toward the epicenter of the blast to observe, if she could, the one who was able to use such a technique.

“Those who dare bring harm to my friends, my village, and my way of life…”

xxxx"Good afternoon." Yamatano announced, making his presence known. This part of sunagakure, near the giant wall that surrounded the village, had survived most of the destruction. The shop was not much of a shop at all, but rather, a large room with walls covered in Kanji, and a room in the center with a desk and chair. "So its not really a place to buy premade seals, but rather, a place where the sealer will perform specific seals. Interesting business model." Yamatano had hoped to be able to buy a scroll for a seal to learn on the go, but perhaps while he was here, he could convince the man to teach him the basics of sealing. It was a useful art, one that Yamatano had thus far neglected, and he was sure Lord Luo could appreciate the reason for the delay. Still, he did not forget his mission, and remembered that he had to ask the man about his travel companion first. That is, if the man was here.

What greeted Yamatano's eyes as he entered the shop would likely be one of the oddest sights he had ever seen. Another sight might surpass it for pure strangeness, but nothing would equal it's unique quality. At the back of the room, Yasashii sat behind his desk, at least three different scrolls draped over the piece of furniture, and a book propped up on it's edge. Yasashii himself was leaning back lazily in the chair, one arm extended into the air, finger moving in seemingly random patterns, but trailing behind it were lines of what could only be chakra, which were quickly assembling into what one would assume were diagrams of some kind from their complexity. And all this with the man's eyes closed and head aiming straight at the ceiling, nowhere near the image being drawn in the air.

One might assume that this meant he had fallen asleep and his body somehow continued the study he had been performing before, but as Yamatano moved forward, without a twitch to suggest he had been wakened, the man's mouth opened, and speech came forth. "One moment please. I need to finish this. Feel free to look around." Even still, the man's eyes didn't open, not even a twitch towards the boy in the door or the picture in the sky. One would almost think he could see them without looking, though that was of course false. Still, can't fault a man his assumptions.

xxxx"Ahh, well, take your time." Yamatano said as he took a seat, observing the man at his work. It wasn't everyday you saw a civilian wearing something like a formal suit, much less in a place as hot as Sunagakure. Still, the suit gave him an air of professionalism, especially when sitting in the chair at the desk. Yamatano took one of the seats on the wall, reading the seal next to him and it's intended effect.

After a minute or two more of the idle finger waving, still never looking at what he was doing, Yasashii's hand finally paused, made one last swipe andpoke on the diagram, and dropped. The man's head rose up then, eyes open and roving over the complicated mess for a mere few seconds, before he waved his hand across it, dispelling the whole thing.

With the diagram out of the way, Yasashii's eyes turned on the boy who had entered his abode. White hair, face mask, ridiculously dangerous neckwear... The description roved through his memory only a few moments, before the last memorable customer's image superimposed itself beside it. The chuunin exams from a few years ago. That's where he knew this boy from. "What can I do for you Hatake-san?" he spoke up, smiling and waving the boy to come back up to the desk even as he straightened himself up from the relaxed pose he'd held while doing his calculations.

xxxxYamatano was taken aback some at the man's careful recognition of him. He knew he had a pretty recognizable appearance, but.....had he ever even met this man? Had this man, perhaps, attended the chuunin exam when he fought Zin Naga, the current hokage, to a standstill? Even if he had lost, that had definitely been the most explosive match of the first round, so it wasn't much of a surprise that people would recognize him, but....That was over four years ago. Was he THAT recognizable, or did this man have a good memory? Or worse, did this man have a reason to need to know Yamatano?

It did not matter right now. What mattered was that Yamatano got the information across to the man.
"Yasashii-san, I was wondering if you could tell me about the man you traveled with here to Sunagakure, who left when you entered. The Mizukage himself has sent me, and my sources have lead me here. Anything you can remember would be a great help." In addition, Yamatano also presented Yasashii with the picture of the man, hoping to jog Yasashii's memory. He tried to be as ambiguous as possible, but he could only hope the man would cooperate. Yamatano was getting extremely sick of having to bargain with people for basic information while acting as a direct liaison to a Kage.

Yasashii chuckled lightly at the boy's expression when he spoke his name. Apparently the boy didn't think himself quite as recognizable as Yasashii implied. "No need to be so surprised Hatake-san." he said, chuckling a tiny bit more. "I've met a fair number of your clansmen. Your clan all seem to share the same unique hair and, shall I say, fashion sense?" he explained, holding his hand up in a vague approximation of the boy's own mask. It wasn't entirely honest. It was true, yes, but also implied he didn't recognize the boy himself as well, as was probably the cause for his previous surprise.

And then the boy spoke of his intent. Unsurprising, considering his village of origin. So, Zdura had arrived, and they were doing the expected check into his past. Well, that at least meant he hadn't been identified immediately upon reaching the village. A good sign. "You speak of Zdura then. So he arrived safely. That's somewhat of a relief." Yasashii smiled, pushing away the photograph without a glance. He'd worn that skin, he didn't need to see it to identify it. "What do you need then? The whole story, or just what you need to know?" the man asked amiably, leaning back again in his chair for a bit more comfort.

xxxx"Whole story?" Yamatano was surprised that Yasashii was so forthcoming with the information. He had been battling Kages using diplomacy for simple "I don't know anything"s, and now he was being offered more information than he had asked for? It was like a dream come true. Already he had learned more than he had been given at the beginning of his mission: The name of this shinobi, Zdura. "Well, the more I have to report to Lord Mizukage, the better, so if you could tell me all you know, that would be excellent." Yamatano walked toward the seat in front of the desk, expecting this story to be long enough to warrant sitting to be appropriate.

"Mm. The full story is a bit long." Yasashii said with a nod, gesturing towards the tattooing chair in the center of the room. "Have a seat. The chair spins around." With that, Yasashii stood up, moving around to the front of the desk himself, and sitting on it's edge, looking at the boy oddly for a moment, with a hum and nod. "A long one indeed. How would you like to try out my services while we chat? I'm sure I've got something you could use." the man offered, a slight grin crossing his face. He probably wouldn't normally have asked, but he didn't have many customers just yet, and unlike in Kariko, he didn't have another source of income, or full rights to practice his work as he liked. The opportunity to work his craft was ripe, and the boy was already seated in his tattooing chair. Besides that, the surprise he showed to Yasashii's being so open with the information he sought indicated he expected to have something asked of him. Why not let him think he needed to play guinea pig? It was an amusing side benefit to helping his clone get established. "How about something simple? A seal on the forearm to deflect projectiles, or swords, perhaps. I see you already wear bracers."

xxxxWhen the man offered to place a seal on his skin, Yamatano's guard immediately surfaced. "Seals can be placed on the skin? How does that work? What would it do?" The prospect of deflecting swords, if that was even possible, sounded almost too good to be true, which is why Yamatano suddenly became wary. Thoughts of the man knowing his name resurfaced for a moment, but Yamatano quickly put those down, chastising himself for paranoia. He was about to refuse, until he considered: the man was offering him vital information, the least he could do is partake in his services. Still, Yamatano already had one permanent mark on his skin, and he wasn't sure how the Mizukage would react to one of his Oinin getting something as obvious as a tattoo on their forearm.

"I appreciate the offer, but Lord Mizukage would be cross with me if I had permanent marks made on my skin before consulting my captain. Could I, perhaps, have a seal to ward projectiles affixed to the bracer itself?" Yamatano snapped the thin metal bracer off, the hidden blade itself still affixed to his wrist with leather straps, and began to count out the necessary gold.

Yasashii's eyebrows rose at the boy's reaction to his offer, as he became visibly guarded, if only for a few seconds. Was he worried that Yasashii would place a different seal than he claimed? Or did he just have some sort of fear of seals? Sudden paranoia after an offer wasn't something the man was used to seeing.

Apparently it wasn't the latter though, as the boy quickly came up with a counter idea, of placing the seal on his bracer instead. Yasashii allowed a slight pout to cross his face as he 'reluctantly' took the proffered equipment. He really had been wanting to do a tattooing. He'd never gotten much chance to work that area of his skills, and as much as he'd have loved some of the features himself, it wouldn't be the same, or at all stealthy, to place them on himself.

Examining the metal of the bracer for a moment, the man nodded. A shallow engraving wouldn't affect the bracer's strength. He didn't even bat an eye at the attached weaponry, though he did give it a short glance. Such things weren't common, though certainly not unheard of either.

Turning, the man returned to his seat behind the desk, setting the bracer on the surface as he sat down, and once again closed his eyes. "The beginning then..." he said quietly, apparently focusing his thoughts, while inwardly he arranged what he wanted to reveal, and what he didn't, since to make the illusion complete, his own past would be the one being told.

"When I was young, about ten years old, I was apprenticed to a sealing master in the land of Fire. he began, finally opening his eyes and looking towards Yamatano again, though his eyes were slightly clouded over, as he focused still on the past. "One day, my master brought home another boy, about the same age as myself. The boy was violent, angry. His home had been destroyed by war in the rice country when he was only four, and he was still bitter, wanted revenge, and without a name or a face to hate, he took it out on everyone around him. My master found him after he had started a fight with several older boys in our village, and won. But, he was no match for my master. He approached the boy, and made him an offer. "If you can beat me, like you did those boys, I will let you go on your way. But if you can't, you will be my student." The boy accepted, always ready for a fight, and attacked. He lost in a single move, and my master dragged him home unconscious."

Yasashii paused, chuckling as he remembered that day. Of course, he had been the boy, but the memory, now softened by years gone by, of an old man simply clocking him on the side of the head with his cane, was too good to not laugh at. Pausing for a time, to consider where to pick up the story next, Yasashii focused in on the metal before him instead, running his fingers along the cool steel to test possible patterns for the seal, seeking the best form to be subtle, and still effective. There wasn't much he could do to alter the shape of this particular seal, thanks to the necessity of the kanji in the center, but he could alter the shape a bit.

"The boy refused to tell us his name. Claimed he couldn't even remember it himself." Yasashii spoke again, deciding to mix in a bit of a lie now, and establish the name. "So our master decided to name him himself, and called him Zdura, from part of a saying he often said. "Zdura ot i zhctnid sertxor." He never did tell us what it meant. He had a lot of those sayings. Most he claimed were blessings, some insults. As Zdura and I grew, whenever Zdura got into fights, or other troubles, he would say "O iw dcorm nxhuemx wc naanx.". Another he never explained, but the tone said enough."

At that point, Yasashii paused again, but this time he looked to Yamatano instead of the bracer. "Do you have any questions yet, or should I continue?" he asked, not wanting to leave the boy too far behind and have to answer questions about the start of the story after he'd finished.

“Those who dare bring harm to my friends, my village, and my way of life…”

xxxxWhile Yamatano had not yet been given any information specifically relating to why the man may be in Kirigakure, he had been given a goldmine of the man's past: That he is, or at the very least used to be, volatile and violent, his real name was not Zdura, must be gifted with seals and an excellent physical combatant, and was not necessarily from Otogakure itself, but from the rice country. The man seemed to be in a trancelike state as he spoke, part of him focused on telling the story and engraving the seal, and part of him reminiscing.

When he asked Yamatano if he had any questions, Yamatano found that he did have one. It wasn't necessarily linked to his investigation, but it was something he wanted to know nonetheless.
"Yes, actually, just one: You said you didn't know what your master's sayings meant, but do you know what language they were spoken in, or where your master was from? I've never heard that dialect, either."

“…Must first find out how to get past me.”
