Jerry drew in a sharp breath, aiming Roar with an intent expression. He had to show these trainees how this was done. He had to protect Sasha. He had to-
Just as he pulled the trigger, the tentacle lashed out, and with a yelp, he was sent tumbling through hte snow, his blast going wild.

"I'm alright back here!" Wash replied to the query, uncertain of its source.
As Jerry started to sing he hummed quietly along. Was that girl with him alright? She seemed so... Distant. Normally she was bright and shiny like a new penny, and it hurt his soul to see her act so dejected, so - tarnished.
And then suddenly tentacles.
Focus, he thought, and brought Sally into a defensive position (which was really most any position given that she was a shield) and tried to catch some of the beast's attacks.
Rolling for defense!

Nona kept an active presence in Sasha's mind; it seemed to do wonders, distracting the young woman so that she could attack. It was odd, how it seemed to work, but Nona wasn't going to ask questions. She sang a gentle, poetic verse when Sasha slashed forward again, the weapon's voice a odd compliment to the actual act of carnage they were bringing down together.

Sasha sang the song to herself, Nona softly humming along. They truly were the perfect pair in moments such as this.

Syd shook off the penguin stupid and shot. Of course she wasn't certain how she could aim for the eyes or the knees or joints when... well... it was a tentacle. But she tried!
She didn't know what to tell the others, or any lines of encouragement or anything--she knew she sucked at that sort of thing, but she could at least keep firing, she thought as the tentacle thrashed around wildly, catching her slightly even with Wash's defense.

Jerry gathered himself up out of the snow, flinching as Wash knocked back the tentacle's blows, but ice and snow was still scattered everywhere.
Deep breaths. Aim and Fire. Don't panic. You've seen a lot worse.
Through the rumbling screams of the creature and shattering ice and shouts of his team, Jerry could dimly hear singing... too soft to place it, but just enough to know... He glanced to Sasha, biting his lip, grip tightening on Roar before he charged forward, planted himself, and fired.
Dear lord, just don't cause an avalanche... he prayed as the bazooka's bark resonated through the snowy field.
"Just keep firing! Wash, keep covering us!" He barked out, desperately trying to keep a grip on the situation.

Wash slammed it with his shield. He was too far to really make out the singing, but he caught snippets of a soft female voice occasionally. Odd.
He shrugged it off and tried to keep his footing on the treacherous terrain.

Aleister watched the tentacle warily as it kept attacking... He wasn't sure how well this was going to end. It seemed pretty well stronger than them.
Though if they fled... He sighed.

"We... We've got this!" Jerry shouted, trying to keep everyone's spirits up even as the tentacle whipped around and knocked him off his feet, his glasses spinning comically in the air a moment before landing where he had once been standing.
Right. Right. Figure out which was was up, aim and fire. Breath in, Breath out. No one was going to get hurt on his watch.
Find your Jerry Song.
He didn't need his glasses to see the massive blur whipping up out of the ice, threatening to grab one of his friends. He jammed his feet down into the snow, hefting Roar up as he squinted... the sound of the blast left his ears ringing. He couldn't hear the soft singing anymore.

There was probably a speech going on, but Syd's ears were ringing from Roar's blast, so she was fully relying on her eyes and Izy's instructions.
Which um... sort of reminded her of the dirty movies her college dormmates had watched after hours, especially with his voice, but she was ignoring that fact.

Alright, they were holding their own, but the creature just didn't seem to want to quit...
He spread his feet and braced himself, boots crunching the snow underneath. He tried to watch the base of the tentacles and anticipate their attacks.
There!
He spotted movement out of the corner of his eye, and he lunged in front of Al, grunting as Sally intercepted a blow.

Sasha froze for the briefest moment in time, blinking dazedly at the tentacle. Even freezing for such a small second gave the tentacle the time it needed to swing in, scooping the trainee up.
Sasha let out a horrified, panicked screech as the tentacle swung her around.

Jerry was about to fire when he heard the scream over the ringing in his ears, and it was by good luck that Roar was suddenly tilted upwards, his howling blast ripping inches from Sasha as she was flung.
"Oh... oh god oh no okay, d-don't p-panic anyone just! Just! Just cut it down!!" He screamed, scrambling in the snow for his lost glasses.

Syd jerked her aim at the last second, her arrow landing harmlessly away from the tentacle. "Sasha!!" she yelled, doing exactly what Jerry had told her not to do. "Let her go!"

Wash's lunge left him somewhat prone, crouched on the ground. As the tentacle surged up above him, Sasha in its grasp, he thrust upward.
His shield connected with a satisfying crunch. Sally was silent.
The sound reminded him of when he had to attack Julie's-
Stop! You can fret about it later...
