"I.." Star looked down at his outfit... perfect and form fitting and.. him.. he imagined the baggy Rocket Grunt uniform in his head. He was still acting a little winded, like an overwhelming amount of terrible stuff was being slung at him and it was taking a moment to process it all. Wait Hayes had asked him another question. Blinking, he looked back up, "Keycard I.. no.."

"Kay, they probably want me to take care of that.." Hayes muttered. He seemed to be going down a mental checklist. "Get you in the database, figure out a schedule.." He frowned faintly in thought, then looked up. "Any questions?"

Star blinked. He didn't imagine 'is this a bad dream?' or 'did I make the wrong choice?' were the kinds of questions Hayes was asking about.
"......when do I start?" He was trying very hard to reclaim his suave tone but it was still out of reach.

Hayes pulled his Rocket Dex from the clip at his waist and consulted the time. "After lunch?" The elite looked to Faleen for confirmation as he said it. "That'll give time for me to sort out your paperwork and you to get changed. Marshmallow guns are in a half hour; if you want to stick around for that I've got spares in the office."

"I'll pass.... is changing really necessary today? I can't imagine Lucere will be making any surprise visits.."

"If you were starting right away I'd say no, but you've got some time so why not," Hayes suggested, which was the nice way of saying 'yes.' He gave the lanky man a sympathetic smile. "Best to just get in the habit."

Star offered a weak smile. He tried to think up the fluid excuses he used to deliver Tethys when she insisted he wear his uniform, but finding out he'd be put back to work doing his old job had short circuited some part of his mind, leaving certain things temporarily unaccessable So he just nodded blankly.

When Hayes looked over at her, and voiced a time frame for Star to start work, she gave a nod "After lunch works."
Star seemed to have fallen quiet, Faleen glanced over, her eyebrows arching a little. "I take it Star will be keyed to Robotics department?" she asked, looking back over to Hayes. It made sense anyway.

"Yeah, I'm gonna get that sorted out once we're done here," Hayes nodded. "Which.. I think we are?" Star looked like his brain couldn't handle any more information, but he gave the two a questioning look to make sure.

He was sure he was supposed to say something. He needed that suave witty man who had answers to everything and could pour on enough greasy compliments to distract most any superior.. but all he could do was stare and nod. So that's what he did.
