Ya, okay, so Alexander had literally no idea where they were going or even that they were still in the obstacle course at all. It might have been nice for a certain weremantis to mention this, but instead, he had chosen not to, and so it was only his own fault when everything turned to disaster.

"I uh, actually thought I heard somebody too.." He frowned, as he struggled along with Yin at his side, reaching out to use the other boil for support from time to time. "But then I thought I heard you shouting as well so I came to find you first. Did you want to maybe look for the other---"

Suddenly the zomboil was being shoved quite roughly into the ground. Since his balance was already so precarious as it was, he found himself lying in the dirt and long grass, feeling somewhat dazed at what had just occurred. He blinked a few times, before finally pushing himself up to his hands and knees. Now where had Yin gone?

Oh.

"Yin!" He shouted, though he sounded incredibly displeased. "Did you just knock me on the ground so that you would get hit with spears instead?" He grumped, pushing himself to his feet and stumbling over to start removing the spears yet again. He wasn't actually mad though, more worried for his boilfriends safety and actually...somewhat pleased that Yin would have tried to rescue him like that.

"This is the last time I'm doing this..." He smiled, his face softening. "If you're going to push me out of the way just to get yourself pinned up against a tree again, I might decide to leave you there so that you won't do it again." and since Yin would probably take that too literally, he added. "I'm just kidding, of course. I'd never leave you.."

It took some time, but Alex was able to pull all of the spears out for the second time during the course. He had to be particularly careful with the one that had grazed his shoulder so as not to hurt him further when removing it again. "You're going to need some new clothes." He mused. "Maybe you can borrow some of my new things until we can get you something else. Or maybe the horsemen would be willing to lend out some of their things."

Eventually, Yin was freed once more and they were able to continue on. It seemed like ages had passed when they suddenly came to a netted area. Alex insisted on going first, though that turned out to not be the best idea, it seemed.

As he struggled along the net, his skeletal foot getting caught just about every time he made the slightest movement, his progress was ridiculously slow. He wasn't even sure he'd managed to get very far at all, in fact. Frustrated, he began thrashing about wildly in the net in an attempt to further himself along, but possibly only made things worse. Eventually, however, he managed to get moving.

And then something snapped taught around his foot. What the jac-----

No time to think about what might have just happened. Apparently today Alex got to learn how to fly!

The ghoul didn't have the opportunity of challenging the obstacle course yesterday, hence she was sure to make it the first thing she would try out after that morning's meditation lesson and training course. A hanging obstacle course was a novel idea to her, though it made sense seeing how everything here was conducted up in the trees. Maneuvering through the ropes course came easily enough for her until she realised ....

... That she hadn't even begun.

Edel stared at the sign and sighed. So much for being ace at the obstacles course.

As if to cheer her up a little, Edel spotted a very familiar glint on the ground, bending over to pick up another token of the Horsemen's currency to add on to the one she pocketed yesterday. She decided that she would take this one too, just because she could.

But mostly because she was feeling a little bitter about her feelings being cheated with that previous false sense of accomplishment.

And so the ghoul embarked on the actual obstacles course, finding her footing with a bit of difficulty amongst the ropes. Moving quickly past the nettings and the spears, Edel found some relief in the form of what seemed to be solid wooden ground again. She was a few steps across that wooden plane when it suddenly occurred to her that it could have been a trap.

Too late.

Edel narrowed her eyes in complete darkness as the crate came crashing down on her. This was going to take a while....

21 - 40: You don't get very far, as some spears from the ground begin to fly at you, pinning you to a nearby tree. Yeah, someone's going to have to free you...

Riley looked terribly embarrassed as every one of her limbs was pinned against the tree they'd shot her into. The clansmen waited to see if she called for help, but after an hour, someone went down to release her. He was smirking every second of it, but she stormed right past him once she was released, and moved to try again.

1-20: You make a spectacular start and get towards the canopy nets, climbing along them. However, you suddenly hear a snapping noise, and when you look down, your foot has been snared by a trap. Without warning, you go flying, right out of the obstacle course! Ouch!

The sheer amount of determination that Riley had gathered up to complete this obstacle course was starting to become more of a nuisance than a driving factor. She surged towards the nets without looking, and before she could even register that she'd been trapped, she was already being flung out of the course itself. She heard the snickers of the horsemen who'd had to free her from the tree a moment ago, and sulked visibly as she lay on the dusty ground, gathering her wits.

Today was the day for stupid mistakes, it seemed. That meant only one thing - it was time to stop. Only a fool would continue to throw herself at an obstacle course when she, herself, was the greatest obstacle of them all.

"You cannot leave me," he reminded him matter-of-factly. "You promised me you would not." Then, as an afterthought he added, "and I believe I told you I never wished to hear otherwise."

He tried not to wince at the spear as Alexander pulled it out, feeling it brush past his skin. To distract himself he focused on the clothing issue. "I am sure I can mend it," he said before looking down. "Or perhaps I shall just remove the sleeves?" His track record with clothing really was not the best.

Alexander now insisted on going first. Which was aggravating. It meant that Yin got to well...slow down. More. He practically oozed along until Alexander got stuck in the net, thrashing like a gyrados in full rage, and then...Oh Great Mantis zomboils were not meant to fly.

Yin was running, tracking him with his eyes, unknowingly probably setting of countless traps but he was already past them as he tried to reach wherever Alexander had landed.

((Exiting. For now.))

"Okay!" came the muffled reply. The box had been made for regular sized victims, so Canon was no where near tall enough to try lifting the top. Instead, she scrabbled madly at the ground near where the voice was coming from, and tried lifting the edge.

After much struggle, though, the box did topple over, and Canon was free!

"Hi! I'm Canon! Thank you!" she said to her savior. "This course is much more challenging than I imagined! It's so interesting!"

Not having had a chance to go through the obstacle course yet, Kemnebi watched as some of the other students tried. Well, that looks fun, she thought sarcastically as some boil got thrown through the air. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Taking a deep breath, the cat girl waded into the obstacle course.

Dodging most of the traps, Nebi reached the end of the obstacle course on her first try. Yes! The girl pumped a fist before spotting a sign. Wha-what? The real obstacle course? Growling deeply, she kicked the sign in anger before noticing something shiney on the ground. What was that? Reaching for it, she stopped. Obviously it was another trap, that's what it was.

Sighing in disgust, she turned to get back into the obstacle course. Hopefully the real one this time.

Nebi came to a rickity bridge that swung wildly around in the wind. Was there a typhoon going on or something? Stepping onto the bridge, Kemnebi held on to the rope for dear life. She was going to fall to her death. Oh, she shouldn't have come onto this bridge.

SNAP

Snap? Suddenly the bridge was gone. Her feet were standing on nothing. Sending out a short, shrill scream, Kemnebi fell to her death. Or not. With a whoosh of breath, her fall was stopped abruptly by a net. A wobbly net. Sighing, Nebi tried to extriate herself. This...was going to take a while....

"It's fine! Hi, I'm Mitzi." The ghoul smiled in return. "I've been running this obstacle course for a while, I think I'm getting pretty good at it. Here, watch!" With that she took off through it. She knew where many of the traps were, and thanks to Roch's earlier escapades she knew just when to dodge the spear-thrower.

Not long after, she was standing at the end and waving. She called back, "See, just like that!"

Mitzi thought she saw something in one of the nets, and she made her way back to check what it was, but it turned out to be nothing. With as long as she'd been working this obstacle course, it really wasn't challenging her as much anymore, so she decided to make one more run through it and then maybe try to find a different one.

She really seemed to do poorly with those bridges. On her way back to the the start of the course and the treetop village, she found herself on one again. As she neared the middle, she spotted what was clearly an intentionally damaged rope. She realized just as it finished fraying that it was meant to catch those who didn't check the bridge before starting across... and then she was bouncing in the net below again. She sighed. At least the way back up would put her off the course, and she could go find another one.

Before she left she waved one last time to Canon. "Good luck!"

Wow! Canon watched with admiration as Mitzi practically flew through the obstacle course. Though it seemed she could still be taken by surprise.

As the ghoul left the course, Canon waved back.

"Thanks, again!"

Canon walked back to the beginning of the course, and, remembering what Mitzi had shown her, tried again.

Somehow, she scrambled through, and stood triumphant on the other side! Canon pumped a fist, and then examined the sign with interest, her eye widening when she realized there was more course ahead.

Fascinating!
