Apparently it was good to go. Malodore carefully began siphoning the sand into the skull, listening to the hush it made; when the sand hit the interior, it produced a pleasing rattle without striking so hard that it did damage to the bone. Just as it had hoped.

Now to seal it... it was just a tiny hole. Holding the skull in one hand, Malodore carefully reached for the plaster again.
... And managed to knock over the container. It could feel the Horsewoman's disapproval even without looking at her; sheepishly, it scraped up as much as it could before putting a daub of plaster over the hole to seal its instrument.

Once the plaster had set, Malodore followed the Horsewoman into the center of the cavern, fascinated by her words. How odd, to use such things as signals, but it spoke of a deep system of ritual and awareness that it couldn't help but envy. Taking a deep breath to calm itself, the plague doctor began to shake its skull, rolling the sand around against bone and plaster before moving more vigorously. The rattle it produced was sharp, somehow, no gentle hush but a rapid noise like the warning sound of a snake.
The Horsewoman nodded in approval, and Malodore sighed in relief before bowing to her. This had been a most interesting exercise. Perhaps it could learn something deeper from this...

((Nesting))
There was still one activity Malodore hadn't experienced, mostly because it didn't seem very relevant to its interests. Nesting... what use did an undead have for that? It didn't really need to sleep, but those around it did, so in the end it decided to give it a try.
Some younger Horsemen were also participating in the exercise, it seemed. Malodore paced around them, keeping its distance, until it found a patch of loose dirt that seemed suitable. It sat down, claiming it - then saw a clan youth glaring daggers at it. "Ah, is this-" it began, but the youth was already gone, stalking angrily away.
Oops... ?
((2- Stolen spot: You manage to get a spot on some loose dirt but it seems you have stolen it from a clan youth. Better keep an eye out! ))

Malodore hurriedly began tugging items over to its spot, looking paranoidly over its shoulder every few seconds to make sure that angry Clan youth wasn't coming back for vengeance. It had been an accident!
It ended up with a bundle of rocks, a torn mat, and a worn out sheet. None of which seemed amazing, but at least it could tack up a sheet as a tent and use the rocks to hold it down...?

Surprisingly enough, when it was all set up, it was rather comfortable! Not amazing, but suitable enough for sleep. If Malodore slept. It seemed the overseer agreed, giving the setup a nod of approval.

And then the Clan youth was back, with an armful of materials, glaring at it... so it did the only thing it could think of.
"Look behind you!"
The youth, against all odds, did. Malodore darted forward and tugged free a bit of cloth, which sent the entire armful of items tumbling. The Horseman shouted and darted after the rolling items, leaving Malodore alone. PHEW.

When it came to defense, though... the sheet was not so good. But there were rocks? The Horseman raised one eyebrow at Malodore as it sheepishly held up a rock.
Second opinion...?

Nope. Nope, a sheet just was never going to be scary, even if it was nailed down with rocks. Malodore was sent packing... not that it particularly minded. It would leave the tent-making to those who actually required sleep!

((FORAGING))
It was going to try this one more time... and this time it had learned. The plague doctor approached its chosen tree with a stick, prodding warily at the bark to see if it flaked into the potent allergen. When it didn't, Malodore quickly started climbing. A strong gust of wind seemed almost to be helping, speeding its ascent.

As Malodore climbed higher, a shadow fell over it - it turned in horror just before massive claws clamped around it shoulders, dragging it free of the trunk. The plague doctor yelped and flailed, only for the bird to drop it neatly onto a higher branch.

The fruit loomed. Malodore walked along the last branch, not looking down, and plucked it. The flesh felt very firm against its fingers, though, and when it returned to the ground the Horsewoman frowned. It wasn't ripe yet... but better too early than too late.
