This wasn't so bad. She definitely wasn't as good as a reaper or anything, but daggers weren't as hard as she was expecting.
It could have something to do with the fact that she was ceremonially trained in the sword. She was definitely still a novice, but she had some moves up her sleeve. Nothing that would actually last in battle, but taking down a dummy wasn't so bad when she could use fancy strikes.
All in all, this wasn't too bad.

With one more hit she both left a cut in the dummy's arm, and broke her dagger. The shells went clattering to the floor, the rope holding them together had come undone.
Danny sighed and picked up the pieces, setting them back on the table where she'd gotten them. It just wasn't as fun without someone else to play daggers wit her.

Weapon Crafting
Danny stirred lightly on Rikki's chest, tucked away in the hammock as they were. She hadn't been sleeping- though she wasn't sure about Rikki. She'd just been resting. After injuring her wing and having Edel fix it, she'd needed some time to just lay down and relax, and there was no better place than in Rikki's arms.
By now she was well rested though, and ready to go. She began to adjust her position so that she was facing him, moving the hammock slightly. "Riiiiikki," she prodded, "Rikki time to wake up!"

Rikki was always sleeping. Just resting? The phrase didn't exist in his vocabulary. He was fairly deeply asleep this time, one arm hanging over the side of the hammock while the other was wrapped around Danny's waist. The sway of the hammock at her movement didn't stir him, but her prodding earned a groan.
"If the sun hasn't risen yet, go back to sleep."
It was always safer to make sure before he bothered getting out of bed.

Danny giggled and pushed herself off him and out of the hammock. For one, the sun WAS already risen. It was only about mid-afternoon. She wouldn't say that though. It would sour his mood, and Danny couldn't have that!
"Okay I'm just gonna go play with daggers," she said, slipping her jacket on and being completely serious. "I'll let you sleep screech." Oh she'd be fine.

Rikki's eyes snapped open and he was rolling out the hammock in seconds.
Really, he was falling out of the hammock. And flat on his face. He let out a muffled yelp and a follow up groan as he rolled to his side. "Danny wait. Wait wait wait. I'm going to come with you." He'd planned on being quicker, but face plants slowed you down considerably. Still, he forced himself to his feet, because if Danny made it out the door and to the crafting platform before him, he was terrified she would hurt herself.

Danny's obnoxious laughter came out once more and she stopped in her tracks, waiting for Rikki to catch up. "C'mon then~" she cooed back in his direction.
---
Eventually they reached the elevator to the weapons platform ... treehouse thing. Danny was actually grateful for the elevators- after all the ladders she'd been climbing, elevators were a blessing from Jack himself. "Last time I came here there was a really nice horsemen. I wonder if she's back!" Danny said excitedly.
"You awake yet?" she said, turning back to him and smacking his chest playfully.

Rikki rubbed the spot on his chest where she slapped and blinked sleepily. "No," he muttered with a yawn as the elevator shuddered the a halt at the top of the platform. "I'd rather be asleep." Even so, he elbowed her out of the elevator as the door open and stumbled after her, looking around at all the supplies like he had no idea what he was going to do with them all.

Danny put her hand in Rikki's, realizing he wasn't all there. His hand was still warm though, and she led him to the table filled with the supplies, and then let go of his hand to pick out her own little trinkets.
She picked stone this time, not satisfied with the shells from earlier, and bummed out by the fact that she couldn't burn the wood to pieces.
As she shaped the knife, she couldn't help but flick her attentions at Rikki every few seconds. Not only was she worried that he'd do something in his tiredness ... she also just wanted to enjoy his company. Her knife was rushed and terrible.
She found that last time just wrapping the hilt in leather had worked so nicely, so she did it a second time. There was really no effort in this blade. It was nothing more than a rock.

Being stuck between asleep and awake was apparently fantastic for creativity. As Danny wandered off to make her knife, Rikki stumbled to the supplies and picked up much more than he had last time. By the time he sat at a table to work, he had quite the impressive pile of things.
He decided on stone, because he was still convinced it was the best material for a knife, aside from metal. He trusted it's sturdiness, and blamed his earlier failure on bad luck. Perhaps it wasn't unbreakable, but it was damn strong. He spent agonizing minutes working on shape of the blade, squinting and turning it this way and that before adjusting it again. He didn't do much better shaping it than he had the last time, but at least his crafting hadn't gotten worse.
It was the decorating that Rikki really concentrated on this time. He wrapped the handle tightly in fancy leather, stretching it until it was perfectly even all around. Then he strung some twine around the top and beaded the end. Black, blue orange. Black, blue, orange. He was careful to keep this pattern all the way to the end of the twine. He tied it off with a black feather, and then repeated the process on the other end of the handle. By the time he was finished, he'd perhaps created the prettiest thing he'd ever made in his entire life, and he couldn't help but smile with a bit of pride.
"Pretty enough?" He asked, holding it up for Danny to see.

At some point, Danny had finished before Rikki and her head had ended up on his shoulder, watching his nimble fingers work with a dreamy expression on her face. He was really going all out this time, and Danny could see the effort behind his expression.
When he held it up for her, she said, "Oh its PERFECT!" followed by a kiss to his cheek.
She stood up and got out from under the table, wobbling her way over to the mannequin. She threw her knife at it, and then watched it clattered uselessly to the ground. Sure it made a scratch, but it didn't stick in the wood, which would've been cool. Danny didn't have as much swag as she thought she did with weapons.
On the plus side, Rikki could feel better about himself, right?

Rikki practically beamed at her compliment, and he followed her happily to the mannequin. Once she'd retrieved her dagger, he threw his own. However, working so delicately on his blade hadn't woken him up, so the throw was weak and barely made a scratch as it, too, clattered to the ground.
It didn't help that he was a bit nervous about breaking this one. He'd put a lot of work into it.

Danny picked up Rikki's blade and handed it to him, perhaps a little bit cautiously. She really liked this dagger. Hopefully he wouldn't break it too!
She lazily picked up her own blade and slashed at the mannequin on her way back. She really wasn't putting very much effort into this. Maybe it was because she was fighting with a rock.
Maybe Rikki's amazing blade had deterred her.
At least it wasn't breaking any time soon.

Nyyrikki took the dagger back from Danny and pressed a kiss to her forehead. He could tell she was handling his dagger a bit more carefully than her own, and he didn't blame her. He really, really did not want this thing to break.
He concentrated more on his next throw, though, and when it went sailing through the hair in stuck deep in the mannequin's chest with a loud thunk. It was a clean, deep stab, and Rikki couldn't help but be pleased with himself. He was doing pretty well today.

Danny was just sinking into despair as she watched Rikki stab at the mannequin and make perfect hits while her dagger looked so shoddy and terrible and horrible and OH GOSH SO MUCH ANGST.
Was she being a spoiled little demoness brat? Yes. Yes she was.
She tried to copy Rikki's stance and threw her knife at the dummy, but it just grazed the side and clattered to the floor, cracking into a bunch of small pieces.
AUGH. NOOOOOOOOooooooo.
Danny sighed and picked up the pieces, and then grabbed a seat next to where Rikki was sitting, putting her feet up on the actual part of the chair. "Go Rikki go!" she cheered whole heartedly from behind him, even if she was upset about the dagger. She loved her boilfriend SO MUCH. JUST SO MUCH.
