I am fairly certain that nobody really knows the original purpose; at least nobody that is still around.
Maybe we will get a pleasant surprise though and someone will come forth that was given a bit more detail about their original purpose.

Oh wait. You mean why the existed in the first place even without plot.
I think it was likely just some super rare shiny "elder class" type deal :V

Sorry, I fell asleep last night on ye guys.
I didn't attack anyone. To be fair though? Kay showed up out of the blue telling vaguely of metas that would involve particularly beloved characters that we had put blood, sweat and tears into for a decade. I appreciate that you Kay and Dracier have been around on and off for that amount of time. However, Kay is only a guest colorist right now and Kay's alpha has not been active in that time, in my observation.
Those who were visibly active were not consulted at all before this discussion started. That is particularly unsettling because there was an event way back when to help develop the story, where the Atlantis premise was developed, and then dropped.
So yeah, knee jerk reactions are going to happen. Feels are going to be bruised.
But I slept on it and I am not upset any longer.
I am interested in helping. I want to take an active roll in its imagining if you guys are interested in my active help.
In hindsight I think pack leaders were a half-imagined (maybe even half-assed idea). So that works in our favor, for sure. We can do a lot of things with the information we were given without contradicting it.
The fact is, the active pack leaders tried to give a front of solidarity. We opened ORPs in the guild that went largely unanswered by shop regulars, or were taken as far as we could without shop RP manager or owner guidance. There Is No Solidarity. There is little in the way of anthro community. The fact is, most anthros are getting help, guidance, etc. from their own friends, families, or are stubbornly independent. And the shop storefront is kept open like a community center and I've always liked that.
I have a big 'however.' My pack leader spent many years trying to keep his pack together. He has suffered disappointment after disappointment (as many anthros have, in general). He is tired of all this and I think it's only fair to let him retire. I would like to allow him to literally step down as a position of authority, but remain as a force of guidance for his community. A counselor if you will?
I do not say this out of upset or anything. Instead it seems to me (and has for the past couple of years) a logical progression of things. It might be an interesting way to explore, plotwise, what happens to pack leaders should they give up their position as a matter of choice.
Annnyway, I woke up about an hour ago and my brain's had it until I have another cup of coffee. Hopefully this didn't seem too ranty, or not logical enough. I like to be logical to both me and those around me, heh.

Guest colourist and Plot Bunny. I wasn't kidding. I am trying to actually revamp story and stuff. So i'm not *just* a guest colorist. I'm also a plot/story manager? (Though I understand that Johann was veeeeeeery inactive himself) And once again I wasn't trying to forcefully involve Beloved characters. I'm trying to leave it open to choices if people wanna stick to the shop hub or not. I don't wanna throw everyone's world upside down, yknow.
The aim of the meta is to give the choice to regulars and newbies to take on a new rp environment, where solidarity will start to become important. The reason most people have gone indpendent and such is because they have no reason to pack together. The shop is a social meet and greet zone, with encourages development of relationships and dramas within interpersonal issues. Dramas are built around who knows what. It's very down to earth which is all well and good but it's like introducing leaders to Human kind and expecting them to go to these leaders with issues and the like. They're just not needed.
For the packs to work, for there to be solidarity and a need to be guided. There'll need to be much more deeper conflicts and the like than personal dramas. This means changing the theme of the shop from something that is just realistically social based to something that is more...fantasy or so. Which is why I'm introducing the Atlanteans, who will encourage more than just relationship building.
There's some world building that needs to be done. A LOT.
As for your Leader. . . . Did you seriously kneejerk about losing your leader only to ask for him to retire? I mean I don't mind retirement at all. It makes obvious sense to me that if Leaders can be challenged they can also step down. Just jeez. sweatdrop
Anyway yeah I'm mostly focusing on the Atlantean stuff for the moment but yes would definately like your help with how you think packs should work, and how we can implement it.

Really guys, you are finally being offered a storyline and a sense of actual purpose for your alphas and you just want to give up without even looking at the event or what is being planned?
If everyone is just going to retire their alphas without giving anything a chance whats the point in us busting our butts to make a cool event for you guys???

Dracier, it's fine, it's fine.
Pack life has been basically non-existant for the last decade or so. I can't blame them for wanting to retire. Though i'd at least encouage them to wait around for the new pack system to be implimented first. But still their choice. We can find new leaders.
Also Melo I wasn't saying you kneejerked to the reaction to retire your leader. I just didn't understand the kneejerk reaction to losing him when you wanted him to retire anyway XD;

It's not like we collaborated to quit. confused
A new change in the focus of the shop and it's plotline should be a good time as any to have new leaders. My observation is that Iggy was not listened to or followed before anyway. A leader cannot lead if others will not follow.
I'm willing to work with what you guys want to do for this meta, for a transition. For example, if a challenger from Atlantis (or who wants to go to Atlantis and take pack there too) comes along, he'll simply step down, provided the pack is behind that decision.
Dracier, you asked us what we wanted three years ago. The vibe I am getting here is that we should be grateful. But I have moved on since then and Iggy has moved on.
Now everything I said still stands, I'm not going to repeat myself. If you want to take it any other way that is up to you.

Less an event, more a system.
We'll be working out rp perks and things, and find a way to encourage people to join packs, and rp reasons to do so. Pack life will be optional and the leaders will pick their own rules (If they want breed exclusivity or not), but there will be more guidelines released on packs. But basically people/anthros will opt to join the pack, and chose to be a more active within their respective pack
Possibly Pack based events, too, where packs compete for prizes and such, encouraging teamwork. Mini rp events held by the Leaders themselves as well.
Just some ideas bouncing around at the moment.

If anything, He has been pack leader a little over a decade and he has no intention to remain an unapproached leader for some more 10 odd years. So I'll give you guys a chance to impress all your patrons.

I'm not going to lie, i've been wanting to rp so much and didnt even realize rping with the pack leaders was something you guys wanted so much because I have anthros in my journal that would thrive off rping with their alpha especially since so many mates have vanished. I dont know if its really people not wanting to approach them just not understanding the pack dynamics and such.
Melo i encourage you to see the event before you fully make up your mind about retiring him but what you do in the end is entirely up to you.
