Herryk caught sight of the strangers and hustled everyone behind the nearest rock as fast as he could. Two demons, one witch and one cat-dog-ghost.
Don't question how he did it. It was magic, okay?

Grunting wordlessly, JD shuffled as far away from his tall, dark, and surprise-spooning teammate as the rock would allow. Why'd he drag them behind there, anyway? He peeked up above it and saw two figures stalking around the rubble. He couldn't make out their features, though. Had he managed to sleep through some kind of fire or explosion? But what was that constant droning noise? And...
"Who's the cat?" he whispered. The fog seemed to muffle his words, but for some reason... the atmosphere felt heavy, tangible. He didn't want to be heard. He also didn't want to be saddled with a Mister Monty 2: Electric Boogaloo, so the white feline had some explaining to do. How many cats did Emily have? Was she some sort of....crazy talking-cat lady?

The Mob creature shrieked as it dissipated, it's death cries ending in a quiet whisper.
"Home..."

Zar had very little idea what was going on, and this was /hugely/ distressing to the demon boil. He was used to a world where everything was very steady, very grounded, very documented. So to suddenly find himself hustled behind a rock, he was ruffled to say the least. "Where even are we?" He asked, finally realising that he was back in the esteemed company of his group from the trials.
Herryk's comment got his attention and he glanced at the white glow near his feet. Mister Monty had stripes didn't he? "I erm. I don't know. I can hardly see anything." It didn't help that his vision was mostly long sightedness where he could actually see far off objects. But this fog had utterly obliterated that.
Overhearing the two figures was surreal but shed no light on their situation to him, just gave him a very horrible sinking sort of feeling. "Something...is really wrong here." He wrung his claws anxiously.
"Did they say the city hall is gone? What else is gone?" There was a very raw edge of panic in his voice.

As soon as the pair moved away, Herryk shuffled warily towards the notice they'd left behind. He took a moment to slowly read the words.
Very slowly.
After a good two minutes had passed, Herryk stumbled backward away from sign.
"Well, Herryk knows one thing for certain," he whispered harshly to all of his team members.
"Herryk does not want to follow those cloaked figures. In fact, Herryk would like to move as far away from them as possible." Offering Emily an almost fatherly pat on the head, he crouched down to peer at her.
"Is Emily okay?"

"Cat?" Nuru looked around curiously in search of another Mr. Monty. Finding none he looked back at Zar who appeared to be looking at him.
"You're looking at me Zar. Ahm notta cat." Said the large white feline. Red eyes darting around from person to person until the figures started talking. He was silently listening from behind the rock and his curiosity was duly roused.
Once they moved far enough ahead he started to follow, "Ah wonder where they're going."

Zar just stared at the white blob that was Nuru. "Erm. Come here." Herry's whisper only made him even more determined to get him to come back. "Don't follow them!" he hissed, beckoning him back.
If he obliged, and actually came back, Zar leaned down to pick him up and poke and prod him. "You...aren't a dog." He looked concerned. "You feel...like a cat?" He snuggled him. That cinched it "Yes. A cat."

Nuru looked back at Zar's request, "But..." He flinched at Zar's hissed tone. He knew that meant business and he lazily wandered back to Zar's side where he was duly lifted up and molested all over. The snuggle though made the indignity slightly more tolerable but he now had a pretty stern frown.
"But... you can't see? How?..." He held a paw up in front of his nose and flexed out his claws. Oh Jack. Oh Jack, oh Jack, ohjackohjack!

Zar didn't actually put Nuru down. Nope, he was soft and cuddly and reassuring. Instead he just kept him in his arms like a teddybear, petting him. It helped keep him back from that precipice of terror he'd felt earlier at the idea of suddenly having nothing to ground him in the world, no school and theoretically no town. Was Alva okay? Aura? He couldn't even dwell on it too much. Just think of the kitty.
"Its decidedly redundant to say, but..things are all wrong."

Oh, right. Emily. HJD glanced down at her, wondering what had her so upset - had she lost the demonspawn? Was it really such a bad thing? Besides, there was this perfectly acceptable cat right here - oh. Nuru? Whatever, Zar was probably better equipped to handle that little identity crisis than the rest of them were.
Before he could question his teammates further, voices drifted to them from the fog. He stiffened, and Zar echoed his thoughts exactly. Amity was nowhere to be seen - he refused to consider the possibility that the rubble they were entrenched in could be the remains of the school - but what about everyone else? What about the townsfolk? What about -
Home.
He stood up, none of his attitude or general slouchiness evident in his posture. Things WERE wrong, but...He needed to see, for his own sanity. JD thought aloud, unable to keep a tiny ounce of concern out of his voice. "We need to...like. We need to find them. Find everyone." He paused, glaring at the trees in nothing but his boxer shorts, but slowly formulating a desperate plan. "We can totally go to town. Not the way those geeks were, though. Dude's right, they look like trouble." He gestured at Herryk. He'd almost forgotten their little impromtu cuddle from earlier. Gag me with a spoon.
"Does anyone else have like, fam out in the Heights?" Was he grimacing harder than usual?

"Extremely wrong! Ah kinda wanna turn back now... but.." He looked around at the others before lowering his voice so only Zar could hear him from cuddle-distance.
"Ah kinda went to bed naked last night. Pretty sure no one wants to see that." Despite his strong hatred of cat germs, he still had to admit the cuddling was a fair trade off.
When JD asked his question Nuru shook his head, "No family. No."

Emily passively went where directed, her expression distant even as tears continued to drip down her face. It was until the figures had passed by that she came back to herself. Posture suddenly upright and voice surprisingly firm for a ghoul that had been crying for a good ten minutes, Emily finally spoke to her team, "We need to stay away from them. Strangers in the fog are...they aren't nice." She stared at the other's with an intensity usually reserved for one Johnny Danger, "We need to get home."
The word echoed strangely in the fog, as if dozens of whispering watchers were ushering them on.

Zar nodded to JD, feeling his gut knot a little as he spoke up. "My family's mansion's up there." He could hardly imagine anything happening to his dad, he felt like the man was utterly and totally invincible. Surely nothing at all could have happened to them? Hell his mother too, she was as tough nut to crack, her heels had claimed many a man. Surely they were fine, this just had to be some weird complication, like the gender swap and the snowglobe, amity would be back soon.
He didn't believe it really.
Somehow it was more acceptable to hug Nuru while the other boil was a cat, it made him feel better to nuzzle his cheek against him as he carried him. "Indeed." He quietly agreed. "Stay like this."
He blinked however at the blob-that-was Emily, more than a little unnerved by her comment. This fog was really getting to him. That sounded far more sinister than he thought it should have.

Something seems to have separated from the mass of fog, staring hungrily in your direction. It tries to talk, but instead, hisses lowly, though you can make out a single word as it speaks.
Home. ((OOC: Damage Done: 2 Target: Zar HP remaining: 10 ))

"I'm tired of all these ******** fog monsters," JD began, striding toward the ghost angrily, "On this ******** plain."
Well, forest really, he thought, swinging at their latest adversary. His hand went through it, doing no apparent damage at all.
