Willow's tail flickered, "Well I was thinking more towards the exit..." She glanced back at the guards for a brief second. Then she shrugged softly.
She sighed though resigning to the fact she couldn't hit him here. They needed access to the training fields. She shifted, "I love it personally, I'd like to be able to come back if this doesn't get ruined by those that refuse to behave in someone else's house."
She sighed slightly wistfully. "While where I lived wasn't quite this ... ornate it was still the same atmosphere."
The Byakko smiled, "What about you?" She was watching Lou from the corner of her eye.

Lou seemed unperturbed at the threats of violence. It was quite obvious that he was probably used to them by this time in his life if his behavior was unchanging (which it was).
And who would've thought Xiu would cave in so easily? Certainly not the boil. Inwardly he squealed with joy, but on the outside his smile simply turned smug. Unfortunately, problems didn't go away if you ignored them. Especially not vampire problems.
... But pinches helped. The boil tried not to show that it bothered him, but his strange spiral eyes did end up twitching just a little. Jack damn ghoul could pinch!
So to get even, he poked her side with his free hand. Most ghouls seemed to be ticklish there. Seemed like a good place to start.
"Heeeeeeeey, I got an idea. Ghoul talk is boring. Lets you and me go do something, hot lips. p***y cat over here can go give someone cat scratch fever while we explore this cheap place." He so rudely interrupted, either not caring that he did so or not realizing he did.... Probably the former. "You can get to know me better. Y'know you want to~" Ugh. The cocky air around him was almost suffocating.

"I love it here," Xiu beamed, clearly in agreement with Willow as she cast another look at their surroundings, "My home also looked pretty similar in some aspects, but it definitely wasn't quite as large."
She probably would have said more had it not been for Lou's sudden poke. Indeed, Xiu was rather ticklish, and so the poke in her side earned a little squeak from the baku as she tried to flinch away. After a moment passed, she turned to look at the vampire, her cheeks puffed out and her brows furrowed in irritation.
It wasn't a very good attempt at looking threatening.
Knowing that it would be futile, she said nothing as she turned away, shooting Willow an apologetic look. When Lou spoke up, Xiu took in his words with a long pause before reaching over with her hand, planting it over his face, and trying to push him away.
She wasn't even going to dignify that ridiculous request with an answer.

Willow nodded, "Yeah I know what you mean."
Willow stared and her ears twitched as Lou was basically harassing Xiu. Her fur fluffed up as she narrowed her eyes and snarled at him. "Either you leave her alone and behave or I'll remove you for her."
She was sad she couldn't go full tiger on him. "You better be glad they don't allow natural forms here." She added.

Oh, if only Xiu had been able to withstand one single poke to the side, then Lou might've never realized she had such a weakness. It almost looked like the two horn shaped locks of hair on either side of his head curled inward as he grinned sadistically, fully prepared to take advantage of such a beautiful opportunity.
"You're so cute when you-" The rest of his sentence was cut off by a muffle as the baku's hand met the vampire's face, the act apparently silencing him for the duration that her appendage kept his mouth covered.
Oh, did he just hear a threat? Ohhhh, what a lovely situation. What a fantastic proposal that had just been placed on his desk for viewing. If there was one thing Loucious loved more than sexually harassing flirting with women, it was turning the tables.
The boil's face took on a mock seriousness as he folded his arms and stared directly at Willow for the first time. "Oh, I'm sorry, what was that? Did you say you were going to fight this ghoul's battles for her? It's hard to make out words with all that hissing and meowing." Lou gestured towards Xiu. "If I do recall, her groanspring said she successfully passed to year two at Amityville, yes? That would mean this young woman is more than capable of beating my a** to the ground, if she so desired." Did he really believe that? PSCH. No. While she might've had the skills, the baku surely didn't seem like the violent type. "So, what you're insinuating, kitty cat, is that you think she's too weak to fight me herself. Is that right? How very insulting. Moreover, because she doesn't seriously shove me away, it could be assumed that maybe she doesn't want to. She certainly hasn't said anything to give off that idea."

{{ENTERING}}
It had been an exhausting day. From the Tea Rooms to the Shrine, Faustus had been eager to explore the mysterious behavior behind the horsemen of the Conquest Clan. But what he, along with Amarus and Olivia had found was still sending ripples down his spine. The images painted on the walls, the bright aura of raw FEAR concealed so deep underground, the intense pain, and feeling of his body as it slowly unraveled ... they were all things he wanted to forget. Right now all he wanted was a nice long, warm lava bath and to curl with his pets in his cozy bed. But he couldn't. He was in a distant land, with nothing more than a mat to sleep on.
At least Amarus had come. He kept glancing back to her. Her eyes still had their usual hollow stare, but he almost thought he could sense the same look in her eyes that he felt in his. She was floating forward sluggishly, arms wrapped around her. Again he wanted to say something, but couldn't find words.
They passed silently between the cherry trees of the dorm entrance, and he led her back to his room. It was just as plain as all the others in the dorm, empty except for his bed mat, incense kit and satchel of belongings. Settling down on one end, he patted the other, motioning her over.
"I think I have some snacks left in my satchel," he stated, turning away as he began to rummage through it. He came up with an average size jar of snot-corn, several swirly lollipops, a small bag of chips, and two wrapped jelly dumplings. "Take your pick." His feeble smile was somehow cracked and unconvincing, drained with fatigue.

[[ Entering ]] There was nothing Amarus wanted more at that moment than to take a long, long nap. Or sleep, whatever. She wasn't particularly looking forward to going into the dorms, however; she'd been avoiding the dorms since Valentino caused a scene. It hadn't been hard, since she hadn't actually slept in a bit. No need to go to the dorms if she didn't intend to sleep.
Amarus, when she moved, tended to walk as though she was normal, but her feet didn't quite touch the ground: she always stepped an inch or two above the surface. Before, when Faustus had hugged her outside of the void, it wasn't weird to her in that her pin made her tangible. It was actually kind of nice; Amarus didn't really hug very many students back home. In any case, she didn't really know what to say after they'd been through all that at the shrine.
Despite how plain Faustus' dorm room might be, Amarus' was even worse: there was only one bag against the wall, if no one had bowled it over. Amarus followed his lead, settling down. She took the napkin full of snacks out of her over-robe and laid them out as well, taking one of the lollipops from Faustus' stash. His smile wavered so that she worried about him. How had it been for him, down in that cave? Had he seen worse things than she had?
Silently, Amarus shifted so that she could sit beside Faustus. She paused, and with a sigh, leaned her head on him. "That... was more than I expected from our exploration." She tried to joke with him. Really, she was just very tired, and very sore.

Faustus passed her the lollipop, taking one for himself which he proceeded to nibble on, breaking off a piece as he let it swirl and melt in his mouth. "Heh. ... Yes it was," he mused softly, staring off for a moment. Then he turned to her. " ... What was it like ...?? For you?? ..."
He was curious nonetheless, if their experiences in the strange cave had been more or less the same, or very different. He thought over his own, and the light sealed down there. The raw FEAR that was sealed even now somewhere far beneath their feet. His stomach churned slightly again, just as the nausea had swept over him then. He slowly realized why it was he felt this way.
Fear.
He felt fear, he felt genuinely, shakily afraid.
But they were creatures of fear. Fear was what they fed off of, what gave them life, and stimulated them. Shouldn't he be feeling on top of the world then?? ... No. No, because this fear wasn't the same. It was a bone-rattling realization in knowing that the very thing which gives you life, can also swallow it up just as simply. He couldn't seem to shake it. Even when Amarus's head touched his shoulder he simply didn't notice. If anything, he subtly curled his tail around himself, and edged ever-so-slightly closer.

A testament to her exhaustion, Amarus only realized she was eating a lollipop shortly after he asked what the trial had been like for her. "What was it like...?" She shivered, took the lollipop out of her mouth, and thought about how she didn't particularly like sweets in the first place... why was she eating this? It had been something comforting, something to nibble while she tried to recover some energy. Mostly, she could have used some sleep, and though she was hungry the notion of eating real food at the moment disgusted her. Her stomach simply wasn't settled enough to accept it.
Amarus paused, thinking. "It was like something very hungry and very powerful was trying to devour me... bit by bit. You know? Pull me apart until I was part of the dark again." Amarus paused for a bit, sat up, and said "Nothingness." She stared off at the paper wall. She wished that her aura worked, here... even if she couldn't comfort herself, it would have been a great help in calming Faussi. Stupid natural abilities being nerfed in the jacking isles.
"You remember where you were before, right? I can't remember anything, because of what I am. It's just all darkness. So it was like something was trying to pull me back into that, and I wouldn't go," Amarus smiled wryly. Putting the lollipop back in her mouth for a moment to demonstrate, Amarus took her hands and folded them into the kuji-kiri for Rin, her usual favourite. "These are what saved me. Chanelling my purpose into the one symbol focuses my fighting. This one is Rin; power."
Her side explained, she slipped her head back onto Faustus' shoulder, and took the lollipop out of her mouth again. Too much sweetness. "What about you...? What did you see?"

Faustus nodded slightly, still gazing off. " I could feel it ..." he spoke slowly. "Like it was calling to me almost, and before I knew it, everything started breaking apart ... my body ... my mind ..." He broke off, shivering despite the warmth his body heat and wings put off. "The pain was unbearable, but suddenly, I remembered something."
He went silent for a moment, hesitating. He wasn't the type to just reveal his most cherished secrets to anyone. But both he and Amarus had weathered what he could only consider a near-death experience, she had also been the first friend he had made since arriving here. He could trust her.
"I want to help everyone ..." he spoke softly. "I think about it a lot actually, how we harvest FEAR from others to survive ... but, like all things, there is a limit, right?? You can only go so far before the power you're relying on begins to crack and collapse ... what I felt down there was pure and raw untamable FEAR ..."
He shivered again. "I ... I want to find a way to better harness our FEAR, to be able to sustain ourselves, without having to rely so heavily on it ... especially now." he added almost in afterthought. "... That's what I remembered, my lifelong dream ... next thing I know I'm waking up on the shrine floor, and you're there." He paused to smile at her, still weakly, but far more genuine. "I'm glad we were all safe."
And with that he plopped the remainder of his lollipop back in his mouth.

Amarus felt a little, slightly unjustified pang of jealousy as he said he remembered something. Amarus' memories, and the access of said memories, were not a fluid concept like they appeared to be for Faustus. What was gone was gone forever. Except as she listened to him talk, she realized something: she did not have memories, and she had no tangible past, but could it be a strength in a way? Having nothing to remember meant that had something terrible happened to her when she was alive, she would never know. Those memories could never plague her. Sure, she couldn't erase the frustration of having nothing to recall, returning to emptiness every time she tried, but she was still her. And as a blank slate, perhaps she could write whatever she wanted, shape herself to her own will?
That would be an interesting exercise. And here was Faustus, talking about how he wanted to help everyone. That was certainly never a concern for Amarus. Her friends, gladly. Anyone else? Not a chance. Amarus coveted, craved and loved power; not physical strength exclusively, but rather strength of will, mind, body... anything. Even strength of personality. She surrounded herself with anyone she found strong, because that was her aspiration. Even if they were different from her.
After all, she was made for fighting, and getting into trouble. That was just what she happened to be good at, for reasons she obviously could not recall. "Do you think the horsemen would feel the same way? It seems like their only goal is to reap more FEAR," she pointed out, her stomach churning. Was that what that cave had been about...? It couldn't be; there was no real way to harvest enough humans inside the heart of the Conquest clan itself.
"So that's your dream, Faustus?" she asked, her voice quiet. She didn't say anything, for a moment, and then her face softened. Strength of heart counted, too, didn't it? She looked up at Faustus and stared at him for a long moment, with her eyes softened that way, the tracing of a smile turning her mirror-blank eyes into something more friendly. She popped the lollipop back in her mouth, after having removed it earlier to speak, and then tucked her legs against her chest again, holding them to her with one arm. She chewed on what was left of the candy, shattering it and sucking on the pieces, so that she could talk normally around the empty stick it was made on. "I'm glad we're all safe, too."
Another long pause, and: "I think my dream... is just to be stronger. Always stronger. I don't have any memories, so all I can do is keep trying to be the best at everything." She smiled, exhausted, at him. "It's really not so effective here. Lots of new things, not enough time to train myself to be better." She shook her head, clearly lamenting this loss.
"Faustus...? I wonder... If I got a skellyphone, do you think that would text even to your phone at your school?" Amarus tucked her chin against her knees, looking at him with some undecipherable expression. Whatever she was thinking, it wasn't entirely clear. But if she was asking that, it definitely meant she considered him a friend; Amarus had gone to Amityville for quite a while now, without ever succumbing to the need to own a skellyphone.

Faussi considered Amarus's question a moment, sucking on his lollipop thoughtfully before breaking off another bite. He allowed it to dissolve some before speaking. " ... I honestly, almost feel like they barely have a will at all ... They hadn't noticed us once the entire time we were in the temple. I have to agree with you, it felt almost like they would have been glad to have ... let us, perish ... down there ..." His voice trailed off uncertainly for a moment as traces of his own fear washed over him.
The boil listened intently as Amarus spoke, the corners of his lips twitching into a soft smile as he listened to her explain her goal. "To be strong, huh?? ... That's not bad. ... I want to become strong too, in my own way." He laughed slightly, his troubles momentarily forgotten.
"I'm not sure." he answered in reply to her question. "The reception kind of comes and goes ... if I get anything from you though, I'll be sure to reply. And if need be, we can at least text from our dorms while here."
Having finished his lollipop, the flame demon stretched. "You know, I'm feeling a bit better now, but still tired. Want to get a nap before classes??"

Amarus knew that the Horsemen didn't care very much for humans, but was it possible they would willingly harm so many students, too? In all fairness, she knew that they were probably never meant to wander into the cave which they had found, but... At the same time, just the knowledge that they could have ceased to exist because of it wrecked her. They were all lucky they had gotten out so quickly.
She felt sore in ways she hadn't even known were possible; not a fighter's wounds, a deep-down sort of pain that she could only imagined had come from the cavern basically trying to dissipate her entire being. Maybe being stretched so thin meant she would have to rest a lot, recover, gain ground again. She was confident they could recover, even if that fear would always be at the back of their memories, now. She hoped Olivia would be okay; she hadn't seen the ghoul around after they had left the temple.
As Faustus explained texts, she tried not to let her disappointment show, when he said he wasn't sure texts would work. She wasn't sure she could talk about that without letting her worry show. When they left this isle, how long would it be until they were able to hang out again? "Yeah, I think we could both use the rest. Especialy if there's any incense at all involved, in my case," Amarus replied, sighing. Of course there would be incense. There was always damned incense.
Amarus looked in the direction she imagined her room was, looked back at Faustus, paused, and finally said: "...can I just nap here? If I go to my room I'll fall asleep and won't wake up in time. I sleep like a rock," she explained. Amarus hugged her folded legs against her chest and rested her chin on her knees again, as if hugging herself. It was difficult to ask for these things, she was discovering.
