THE TIDE COMES IN AND...
Mai watched with satisfaction as her team had little difficulty beating down the offending crabs. She was just a little bit embarrassed that her only contribution to the fight had been.. er.. ok so this time she really hadn't contributed anything.. Except maybe serving as a minor distraction when she was nearly trampled into the sand.
There was a brief moment of respite before she became aware of a low whooshing sound that was quickly rising in volume. Turning toward the beach, Mai's eyes widened in surprise. Somehow during their fight they'd managed to miss the fact that the tide was coming in! And jacking s**t on a stick, it was ruining their castle!
"Guys, the castle!" she called as she turned and ran toward it, feet splashing in the tide. Well, at least the water was refreshing.

Thankfully Mai reached the castle in time to prevent one wall from collapsing entirely by quickly shoving wet sand into gaps around the eroded base. She stepped back so that she had a better view and scanned the looming walls for any areas that needed immediate attention.
It seemed like the tide was starting to move back out again, which would hopefully prevent further damage to their structure.

All this rushing around was taxing the ghost at this point. Mai was only too happy to work on a nearby section of castle that looked particularly droopy, going about the repair at a pace more suited to her. She did a pretty good job patching it up, even if she was going about it fairly slowly. Her hands worked in deliberate fashion, pushing sand securely into weak spots and patting it snugly into place.

Oof. Moving around giant sand was tiring. Mai set her shoulder against one wall and heaved, doing her best to pack the sand in tightly so that the foundation would be sturdy. Having done that, she climbed halfway up one of the outer staircases and sat down for a rest.

Thanks to Lacie, Night was pulled away from the danger of the crab. He could only look into her eyes and manage a....
"Bless you Princess Lacie." Before pretending to dramatically die. Though she was pretty strong for the littler of the two girls. Aurian was doing her best as well as Night perked up before smiling, "All Fish are food. not friends." He grinned again before pushing himself up.
Valiantly there castle had been defended.
Until the tide came in. Night hissed as it came closer.

Lacie's eyes widened at the sudden influx of water coming forth to destroy their castle.
THEIR CASTLE ;_; Who knew the beach could have so many dangerous foes?! First, the giant crab and now the water. What in the world was going on.
Trying to run back to her sand castle, she tried to pick up some sand to strengthen its foundation, ending up dropping it, and promptly slipping backwards to fall.
"O-o-owch." Her hair pooled around her as Lacie was promptly soaked in the tide.

As she sat there soaked, although it wasn't cold -- due to the sunny heat that came down upon them, she stubbornly continued to defend their sandcastle.

Night frowned as the water took out their caslt. Overall, the water had him busy avoiding but...one look at Mai and Lacie's face had him treading on the small amount of water left to rebuild their kingdom.
"Are...are you alright Lacie?" His teeth chattered the closer he came...and then he slipped on his bottom and was completely wet the bottom half down.
He looked kinda of pitiful.

Lacie kept slipping, and as soon as she picked up sand, it simply fell out of her hands. Meanwhile, the tides continued to assault their sandcastle.
"I-I'm okay Night." She answered in response to Night, coming to his side. "Are you?" She held one of his hands in both of hers, having already seen Night's dislike of the water. "Thank you for protecting our sandcastle." She said quietly, her golden eyes looking up at Night's own hued eyes.
"Why don't we go to where Mai is?" She looked over at the ghost -- it was apparent that they were had both exhausted their efforts.

The crab was gone, but now the tide was rushing at the sandcastle. Had they built too close to the water? They had a moat around the castle, but the waves were rising and it wasn't long until the castle was still in danger. Not to mention, Aurian didn't want to lose their nice moat, either!
"N-Night, hang in there!" Aurian called to the cat-boy, who was staring at the waves with dread.
Aurian rushed over to the castle. They had to rebuild the parts that the waves were washing away! Stupid tide!

"Is everyone okay?" Aurian asked as she kept working. It seemed like the castle was almost fixed... just a little bit more work.
"Stupid tide, trying to destroy our castle," she grumbled. "Whose idea was it to have this at a beach in the first place?"
Aurian wasn't impressed. First everything was too bright and sunny and washed out, and now the beach itself wanted to ruin their hard work. Beaches were not fun places, Aurian decided, no matter what some people wanted her to think.

"Aaaaand... DONE!" Aurian cheered. Jumping in the air, she punched a fist upwards. The castle remained safe and the tide was retreating back the way it came.
"Take that, stupid tide!" she yelled after it. No beach was getting the better of her.
