Baie’s head turned to her niece so quickly she was certain she’d heard something snap. She failed to see why the brown lioness would recommend her for a task Buna would never take in a situation she very obviously disliked. Could she have read her mind?
“I was thinking that an Umzingeli might be underestimated by the red pelts and do a better job because of it.” She admitted, her mind turning to her previous thoughts after being caught by surprise. “But I thought someone who looks like them might be better suited. I thought of Abhilasha actually… I don’t think they like orange that much.” Her last words held a hint of humor to them as if she found their ideals as amusing as they were ridiculous. But while her smiling expression remained peaceful, the sudden surprise kept her body language closed and tense as she listened to the exchange between Njalo and the Umama.
When Simo stood up and left to meet with Gakere, the orange lioness sighed quietly. The Umholi would have the final say and there really was no point in worrying in advance. She did, however, want to have a few private words with her niece as soon as possible.
