Maiara sat carefully on a safe looking couch which was a safe distance from Haikimaru. After inspecting her surroundings, she looked back up to the purple fox. It appeared the couple were living in a decent apartment; it almost looked too modest for Haikimaru. Were they saving money for something? "I come only to apologize for my haste actions." The spirit warrior said proudly, almost as if she thought better of herself for being the first to come forth and recognize the foolishness of her actions. But that wasn't the only reason. She readjusted her position, sitting up straighter."I come to formally end our friendship or strange relationship. It would be to our best advantage to forget the other and move on in our lives. You have done so already. I felt it would be best to say this to your face, so I know there is closure."

It almost hurt to say these words, but it was time for Maiara to move on in her life without thinking of Haikimaru at all. Her people were worried over her reclusive nature, and were pushing for her to find a mate. Something she wanted to have in the next few years, and in order to do that, she needed to end things with Haikimaru face to face, even if it had been years. Even if had already been over. Speaking it aloud helped her believe it. To move past that part of her life. Standing up from the couch, she glanced at Haikimaru once more before heading to the door. Her business was done.

Haikimaru looked at the woman. He thought that she must be sick and needed go to the hospital. She was asking for forgiveness. This was not the Maiara he knew. "Are you sick?" He questioned. He then listened to what else she had to say. "I will not end my friendship with you. I love you too much to do so." He told her. "Just because I'm with Mitsuko doesn't mean that it's any different for me." He told the woman. He was not lying that she was special to him.

During the sudden unexpectedness of guests, the fox peeked out from the kitchen doorway, ears alert and calm, stoic masquerade rebuilt all over again. This was no one the fox knew. The scent of the individual clashed with the outside air that brought in a sour stench. Something raw, like meat. Along with the smell of a winter chill. He wanted to run to Haikimaru's side like a child, hold him for security. But that was nonetheless undignified. He squinted slightly, looking the spirit warrior up and down closely. Her intentions were not clear to him, and he did not care to know her thoughts even if he could. But the words she spoke to Haikimaru unsettled him.

    'Unless you start it first.'

Glancing to his mate, the male suddenly straightened up upon being noticed and made the mistake of letting a light blush to his cheeks. His ears went down and Mitsuko looked away shyly before nodding and beginning work all over again. His tail catching the rays and almost glittering as it caught up with him as he turned swiftly on his heels.
he small clinks the cups and pot made as he refilled it and set to work fixing up another pot filled the room as he bustled about the kitchen. He found his thoughts on the two's conversation, observantly analyzing and making sense of what he didn't understand, picking it apart.

    'Maiara.'

He furrowed his brow. Where had he heard that name before?.. He could recall it from somewhere deep in his mind. But. Nothing rang any bells.

'I do not come to cause trouble.'

Did that mean she had in the past? How far back? Did she know Hikimaru before he did? Why hadn't he heard of this?
Then came her accent. It was thickly Northern. He'd been north once. Strictly "business" if he remembered correctly.. Although the cold had gotten him and stricken him with fever for a week during a winter in early Trelleborg. He had gone back to London for a while to recover before returning to Japan. He'd never gone farther than eastern Canada's Prince Edward Island and only went as north as Sweden's northern border after that. The world wide extreme-climate travel just wasn't really his thing.. Japan was his home, and now The Capital City, and Haikimaru.

    He continued listening..

'So what do I owe this visit to?'

'I come only to apologize for my haste actions..I come to formally end our friendship or strange relationship. It would be to our best advantage to forget the other and move on in our lives. You have done so already. I felt it would be best to say this to your face, so I know there is closure.'

Something unnerved the Kitsune. Her tone hinted at something deeper. The kitten had found it's way back to the fox's side, and began running the length of the side of it's body against the male's right left, lifting it's tail up and purring loudly for attention.

'Are you sick?.. I will not end my friendship with you. I love you too much to do so. Just because I'm with Mitsuko doesn't mean that it's any different for me.'

If one had noticed, which wasn't that often, Mitsuko had slowly declined his actions as he was listening.. Now, nothing could be heard from the kitchen. Despite the slight clatter of cups being brought out and cleaned and filled and set on a small tray had slowed.. now all noise had ceased. He found himself staring blankly at nothing, but quickly caught himself. 'This is what happens when you let people get close.' he thoughts, hastily picking up his job and making progress as he poured the tea and set each cup down onto the tray in complete silence. 'No. He couldn't have meant it like that. It was obviously a friendly gesture to make the woman feel better.. yes. that was it. Haikimaru wouldn't say things like that to someone else to hurt him. He has good reason to say it to an old.. frienemy?' The kitsune reassured himself, shaking off his natural sense of suspicion as he took the tray up in his hands and began his walk out of the kitchen. But the sense of truth in his mate's words unnerved him. With cat//dragon underfoot the sense of balance was off by a fraction, and he found himself catching himself once or twice before even getting to the two. He set the tray down gently on the table in front of the couch where he smelt the woman, and was about to hand her her tea.. But he looked up to find she had already began a B-line for the door..
"-Ah-um-.." He stopped himself from dropping the cup, watching her closely before silencing himself. Looking down. About to say. But unable to remember what he was going to spit out. He dared glance once at Haikimaru for redirection. He didn't know what was quite going on.

"Mreow, says I. Pick me up!" called out a small voice, echoing in the mind of it's 'Masta'. The small cat at Mitsuko's feet pawing softly at his ankles and casually rolling over. "Sorry little one." the fox sighed, picking up the limp little rag-doll kitty as it's tail flicked and it seemed to smile as her held it close, stroking it's ears and simply waiting. He'd almost forgotten about the little dragon, and felt a bit sorry for not listening sooner.

" 'why a cat' you say??
They can get away with stuff.
    Dogs, not so much."

As soon as her hand was mere inches from the door knob, she halted, furious at the purple fox's words. Her back still facing the two other foxes, she took a deep breath, a technique that was taught to her to calm down, but Maiara found it did the opposite. It gave her more air to do more damage as she saw it. While she felt guilty for denying Mitsuko's tea, she felt Haikimaru should feel more guilty for his words. "Do you hear yourself?" Maiara hastily asked before spinning on her heels, facing the two again. Rage was clear in her eyes, and they were solely directed at the purple fox. Pointing a finger at Haikimaru, she stepped closer. "You live with fox here," The spirit warrior gestured to Mistuko. "I know you love him. Yet, you are being selfish. You are too old to play games like this now. You have chosen Mitsookoo." Even after all this time, Maiara still had issues pronouncing the feminine fox's name; most of the time, she forgot it. Haikimaru previously mentioned it though, so she figured she would make an attempt. She meant all of her words wholeheartedly, and she was tired of Haikimaru's multiple partners, and she didn't want to be one of them. Friends? Sure. But that might be difficult without her harboring feelings. It would be best for her to distance herself from the purple fox, perhaps for at least fifty years. Then they could be friends.

Haikimaru knew every word he was saying because he knew himself more than he did in the past. "I've always been selfish. I like being the center of attention." He pointed out what she was saying. It has always been that way. "I do love Mitsuko. That's why if he'd leave me I'd don't know what I'd do with myself, but I also love you, but your different. If you'd leave me I kind of know you'll comeback sooner or later. That's why I can't just let you go again." Haikimaru answered. It was one think to love someone else, it was another thing to sleep without the permission of Mitsuko.

Maiara shook her head angrily. "No." She stated simply, denying Haikimaru's words. She didn't want to be part of this twisted relationship. She didn't want the pain anymore, and she didn't want Mitsuko to be in the same position. The purple fox had chosen. "We can be friends. Nothing more." She said, a tone of finality edging her words. In her mind, the conversation was over. She didn't care what Haikimaru said; he may love both, but he could only be with one. Letting her hand rest by her side once more, Maiara relaxed her pose slightly, nodding to Mitsuko in thanks for the tea, even though she made no move to take it. It wasn't his fault that the feminine fox made her extremely nervous. And while he did put her on edge, she did wish the best for him. Wished him luck in this relationship with such an infuriating man. "You have had your chances, purple fox. But now is time for me to leave." Once again, the spirit warrior scowled before turning away, heading towards the apartment door with the intent on leaving. The cool metal beneath her fingertips, she rotated the knob, "Good bye."
