They had allowed themselves to get too caught up in organizing, and missed the Thread that snaked down at them while they ascended. With echoed hisses of pain, they jumped between and back again.

They weren't doing so bad, not really, not after the shock they had at first. He hadn't seen any major scorings since the earliest ones, though that didn't mean that they weren't happening.
'More. The brown turned his head, and F'nell quickly feed him more firestone. After a moment, he dove down, chasing a patch that one of the others had missed.
I've got this one. Krith broadcasted, letting the other dragons around him know so that they wouldn't go after it as well.

Krith hissed as his wingtip caught the thread, and quickly darted between. Perhaps Bronze Pipith had a point, and when he reappeared, he was close to him and the couple others he had already collected.
I'm with you.
If one of the Malvren bronzes were to join, he would join them, but until then, the Trine bronze would have to do. He and his didn't care about the issues between the three weyrs anyway, and during times like these, it was especially unimportant.

Calanoth flickered back from between, just narrowly dodging a passing dragon. The scores between his shoulders ached with every wing beat but he was far from being out. With heavy encouragement from his rider and a fresh stomach full of firestone the bronze flamed again with exuberance

She was calmly informed by her blue that a Trine bronze was gathering what dragons he could to form a wing. Wykla glanced around for other Malvren riders. Call for Malvren to form up. We need more than one wing.
Kameth rumbled and broadcasted, Mine wishes Malvren to form up. If they would listen to him was another matter. Were there any bronzes or browns around from their Weyr? He was too busy dodging and flaming to really look.

Dynith brought them out near the two bigger bronzes. We are here. She sounded a bit shaken and ichor flowed from several wounds along her back. Nothing too serious that she would leave. And Hers was with her.
Optheli looked over the ugly threadscores. They wouldn't hamper them yet, and she was wounded too. Not badly, but enough to notice. She waved a hand to the bronzeriders to show they could go on. Steady Dynith. Just like we practiced. Firestone, and flame. She filled her thoughts with love for the brave green.

Who leads? came Nachith's reply to the Kameth. Malvren, they would fly with! ...if there was actually any bronze from Malvren who would lead them. He definitely wasn't going to fly after a blue! And he would sooner continue to fight alone than assume any authority himself!
He wheeled tightly and let loose a burst of flame - and despite his grace in the air, found himself struck at last.

Surprised, the brown let out a cry of pain and winked between to lose the burning menace. A badly-scored tail was what he got for allowing himself to be distracted!

Z'fer sneered at the 4 dragons flying over head. They weren't even from the same Weyr! At least none were from Malvren. He wouldn't be caught dead in a wing with another Weyr.
Calanoth heard the call from Kameth. - Kameth calls for Malvren riders to form up. - He flamed as he bespoke Z'fer.
Z'fer nodded, his sneer turned to a savage grin as black dust flew into his face. - Call him to us. We'll fly with Malvren riders. -

He had manage to spare His from most of the Thread, taking the damage himself. Scarath scanned the area for immediate Thread then beat his wings to join Pipith. He rumbled acknowledgement of his position. The bronze was quite happy in any, and there was plenty of Thread to go around. Mine, Dynith and Hers took some damage. They join us.
S'kor held on grimly. His hands clenched tight on the ridingstraps. It wasn't until the green pair closed in and his sister gave the all-well. Well, maybe not all-well, but it certainly could be worse. He nodded. It wasn't long before the trio was joined by another dragon. S'kor saluted the pair. When Thread fell it didn't matter who belong to which Weyr.
Thread, warned the bronze. He exhaled a long gout of flame.

Good. Pipith accepted the Malvren brown's cooperation with that quick expression of approval, but had learned his lesson: less talking, more flying! The rest of the dragons in the sky faded from his focus, allowing his attention to remain with 'his' three. Now that they were his responsibility, as it were, he would look after them - doubly so because they had freely agreed to follow him.
He trumpeted encouragement and chewed another piece of firestone given to him by his rider so that he could sear another tendril of Thread from the sky.

There was something reassuring about being in a wing, even if it was small and made of mismatched riders. F'nell saluted back, even as Krith dove down, chasing another patch of thread.
'I go.' Krith flamed the thread, and then, as he turned to rejoin the small wing, was struck on his tail by a stray bit of thread.

He roared in pain as the thread attacked his tail, but even though he made it between, had caused a bit more damage than the previous bits. It wasn't enough to stop him from flying, but it was painful.
'Be strong,' F'nell reasurred his brown. 'You are flying well.'
They rejoined the wing, watching carefully for another patch. 'There, to the left.' He broadcasted. By the time he would get to it, it would be too late, but perhaps one of the others could reach it.

With the shift in his attention to focus on his little wing, Pipith was quick to notice the Thread that threatened their brown 'wingmate' from another Weyr, and intercepted it with a burst of flame.
