Zai listened to him talk of his family, she was still not to confident on the snake part, but she was sure he'd never let any of his family get harmed. "I'm happy for Schuyler, she and Thalion seem so happy together, even though he can be kind of a Mr. Snooty-hooves, he can still be pretty nice sometimes." Zaira said with a laugh. "I'm sure Alkion will, he's not a bad looking stallion, I'm sure some mare will take a liking to him." She paused, swimming around a bit avoiding his eyes. "And what of you, Kai?" She asked quietly.

"Me?" He blinked. "Um well I'm looking but you are the first mare to come around for a long long time. My cousins and I haven't ventured too far out of the area yet. Schuy will be one of the first to go along with Mr. Snooty Hooves. I think our group is blessed that he loves Schuy so much as it keeps his snotty nature under wraps." Kai sneered at some offending seaweed that had gotten stuck in his mane.

"It's nice that they've found their match though." Zai turned away, realizing some of what he was saying. It wasn't until she saw him glare at some seaweed that had somehow found its way into his mane. She swam over to where he was still sneering at his mane. Carefully, she took the the seaweed between her teeth and deposited it in the water. "There..." She said softly, his nearness obvious to her.

Suddenly a perfect blue/white nose entered his field of vision and removed the offending scrap of lake scum that had settled upon the deep blue of his mane. He blinked. He turned to thank her and bumped noses. The touch sent a bit of a jolt through him. Who on the isle had a nose that SOFT?!
"Oh. eheh sorry.." he said. "I didn't mean to bump you, I meant to thank you....thank you." He wondered if his father had been this awkward with females.

Her skin shivered at his touch, his warmth radiating through the little spot on her nose that his had touched. "Its...ok." She looked away, dazed a little, "What are you thanking me for?" She said somewhat dumbly. Zai's face still turned away but she looked at him from out of the corner of her eye, waiting for his reaction. She had feelings for this stallion that she had never had for anybody, which should be preposterous since this was their first meeting, but...its wasn't, it made sense somehow.
((whoa...why did I make that last post's color brown....I guess I'm loosing my mind. XD))

"I was thanking you for removing the seaweed." He replied. "I don't know what stopped me from taking it off myself but ..thank you." He dipped his head some a bit chagrined.
"So where did you come from? Do you have a family?" He asked curiously. "Mine is ...rather large, and loud and excitable." He added.

"I really don't recall much of my parents or family. I guess I grew up a little fast. But I've managed on my own, its been difficult but not impossible. You're lucky that you have a big family, lots of people to love you and care for you." She looked away shyly, wondering if she should say what was on her mind or not.

"Oh yes a huge family. Sometimes they listen other times not so much. Its occasionally hard to find peace and quiet. But I always know they have my back. Are you okay? You look a bit pale." He cocked his head and leaned in, his red eyes searching her face. "Zaira?"
He wondered what could be wrong. The water was too warm maybe? It didn't seem to bad but perhaps she was unused to it.

"Oh!" Zaira was roused out of her thinking by his voice. "I'm sorry, I guess I was just lost in my own thoughts. I-I just...." Her voice faded as she fought with her own conscience.

"You just what? Tell me. I'll try and help you." He said sincerely. He wanted to help. He wanted to wipe the worry off her face. He hoped he could help...somehow. Perhaps one of his Uncles or even his Father could help.

"I think I like you." Zaira blurted out, promptly clamping her mouth shut after she realized what she had done. She swam quickly to the other side of the pond near the waterfall in shock of her actions. Why had she done that? Now he was probably going to laugh at her and leave.

Kai was a bit stunned and turned toward her. "I like you too Zaira...." He said. "I I I guess I don't need my father's help afterall." He smiled hesitantly and stepped over to her. "Why are you hiding over here?"

"I figured you wouldn't...wait...what? Did you..." Her mouth was wide open, in shock that he actually said he liked her too! "I thought you wouldn't like me...." she looked away shyly, still not believing that it could be true.

"Why wouldn't I like you? Have you seen you? Talked to you? Your lovely. And sweet with a hint of spice. And Sortoth knows I like spice. I get that from my father. My mother is the spiciest mare you will ever meet. And she has completed him like no other. Unfortunately my sister got quite a bit of that spice. That is why we scuffle so much."

"I-I..." Zaira stuttered. "I don't know what to say." She said, ending the sentence with a small little giggle. She was so happy that he liked her too!! It all seemed so fast though, and oh no! What would Schuyler think?? Zai didn't want her friend to be upset because she might be seeing her cousin... And...he said he had a sister...what if his sister doesn't like me? She thought to herself, all little horrors popping up into her head.
