Tomlin made good use of the slightly clearer area, sprinting through the thinning trees until the rushing sound of the river was close enough to drown out the noise of others still in the forest. So close to the ground it was hard to tell exactly what he was facing, though the sound of it didn't bode well. This time he did make use of the trees, scaling the nearest trunk with a few clawed leaps to survey. His eyes narrowed, taking in the breadth of the rushing river, the muddy far bank, the road of water-slicked stones offering precarious safe passage. He really didn't want to get wet today. The rocks looked sturdier than the banks.

He could see the pursuit far better from up here, Ganymede and Oberon; and a few other familiar faces further back. And less friendly energies, too. He had to hurry. Dropping back to the ground, he bounded across the stones with smooth, cautious leaps, his natural balance standing him in good stead for the task. The cold spray of the water against his fur was incentive enough to keep moving.

Thule could see others now, all ahead of her but she could see them! Was everyone just as curious as she was or was there something she didn't know? There had to be a reason right?

After finally making it around the brambles and getting caught in low hanging branches and the rest of it she finally came across the stream. She seemed to be one of the last as she watched some manage to reach the other side. If only she had got here earlier she could have pushed them in or something! She looked around at the best way of getting across and decided to jump on the stones.

What a stupid idea.

She never really had balance and even with her senshi powers balance wasn't something she could really get the hang of. She tried though, very slowly. Her foot slipped on more then one occasion and she made it across the stream even further behind everyone else then she already had been!

Mica lost several precious seconds untangling her coat from a particularly tenacious shrubbery. Spotting midget Senshi beating her in this race only proved to further sour her mood; she did not want to have to say that she had been outdone by magical brats. Her irritation was enough to make her ignore the stones in the stream and instead leap clear across it, but it hampered her concentration, making Mica unable to stick her landing. She was forced to stumble for a couple of steps and then stop to regain her balance before resuming the race.

Everyone was clambering behind each other as they hopped over the stream. Some managed to stay drier than others did. There were more woods beyond that body of water. Each opponent had to manage their way through branches and leaves again until they came upon a path. Surely that would make it much easier! Wouldn’t it?

Alas, there came a fork in the road. And it was impossible to tell by the energy signature exactly which way to go. Left or Right? Choose your path. Each path is seemingly identical, muddy terrain leading through a thicket of more trees.

Mixing it Up
The dice gods seem to be against us! So Let’s try something different. First choose your path, Left or Right, and roll 2-20 dice again. This time, BOTH dice equals your score.

Optional: Your character is feels oddly energized , in a separate post, you can roll another 10-sided die which you can use to either trip up/push/put a log on path and attack another racer who is on the same path and deduct points from their score for this( or that) round OR use the dice as a speed bonus for yourself and add it your own score. You can save your 10 roll for later if you wish. Keep track of what you roll for your own scores, deductions (if any) will be added at the end of the round. Use it wisely.

*Apologies for the delay.

Maia frowned as she made her way through yet more woods, being smacked and scraped by yet more branches, tripped my more root. If she wasn't so curious she would probably turn back, that and she knew there was probably some negaversers and DMC senshi about.

She was extremely happy to to come to a path, ignoring the unlikely coincidence and knowing what such a coincidence could lead to. She was too far along for that wasn't she. At least running was easier, heels or no heels, she felt more at ease now. Well that was of course until she came to a fork in the road. She knew it couldn't be that easy and now she had to choose. Left or right?

Maia chose the left path and continued not really thinking too much on it and just going with it, hoping to everything it was the correct path.

There were trees and branches and leaves and all manner of undergrowth everywhere. Ganymede was no longer certain which direction he was even going in, but he supposed as long as he didn’t run into the stream again, he could at least be sure he hadn’t backtracked and gotten himself turned around in circles. He could still sense the strange meteoric energy and used it as a guide.

He was pleased to finally come across some sort of a path, and decided to follow it for as long as it seemed to take him in the direction he thought he needed to go in. He kept running as fast as he could, looking over his shoulder every once in a while to see if he could make out any of the others behind, around, and ahead of him. He’d managed to pass Oberon while crossing the stream, but he kept the smaller senshi in his sights, never going so far or so fast that he wouldn’t be able to help him if any of the darker energies he was sensing got too close to his boyfriend’s little brother.

Ganymede frowned as he looked ahead and saw the path slitting off into two directions. He muttered something under his breath and quickly considered which route to take. He had no way of knowing which way was the correct way, and ended up picking the path on the right simply because he was right handed and figured that was as good a way to pick as any.

He glanced over his shoulder again to give Oberon as stern a look as he could muster at the moment—which probably wasn’t intimidating at all, but at least he was trying. “Follow me or I’ll make sure your mom grounds you for a month,” he threatened.

Well, he didn’t really know if he could pull that threat off, but he could bet he’d be able to count on Chris to back him up if needed.

Darting away from the stream put Remarque back at a decent pace—until there was a fork in the path. There wasn’t much time to assess which path was the better option given that there were people clearly very near and he didn’t want to give any of them an advantage against him. He charged down the left path without any delay, though as he continued to run, feet sticking in the muddy puddles, he wondered if the other path would have been the better option.

It was too late to chance his mind, and he wasn’t about to leap off the path in an effort to search the forest on his own. Maybe if he was more familiar with this area or had some sort of skill in the wild he might have made a split second decision to separate from the group as much as possible, but in this situation he was content to keep running forwards, darting and ducking around the trees.

Over the stream, finally!! Oberon groaned and shook his foot as if doing that would somehow make it dry faster. He'd slipped a couple times in his haste to stumble over the rocks, but it wasn't his fault he was little!

He glanced up when he heard a voice approaching him, grinning when he realized it was Hypnos! "Hey! I-- oh... OH! Sorry!!" he gasped, although trying to get her to keep moving along with him. "Oberon!" he grinned, cheerfully leaping over yet another fallen branch. "Senshi of Adventure! Can you believe it??" he chirped merrily, despite the intensity of the sudden race. Of course, by that point he realized she had only met him as a civilian! It was no wonder she had no idea who he was!

"It's me, P-- uhhh..." he stopped suddenly, glancing around and realizing that he probably shouldn't be shouting out his real name out for everyone to hear... No, it was his civilian name... Oberon was his real name, too. "We met in a tree before! And shared my lunch! You took me to your planet for Christmas! We went swimming!" he chattered, glad to see a path. Hopefully that would be enough to have her realize that he was Peter. "We met as kittens, too!!" Wow, he'd really had a lot of adventures with her. Which was awesome, because he loved adventures!

He opened his mouth to continue chattering away when he heard Ganymede call over to him. Oberon frowned, although it looked more like a pout. "Not fair! You can't do that!" he whined his typical falsetto whine, but took off after Ganymede anyway. He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Hypnos was still following along, not wanting her to get lost in the woods, before darting off in front of his usual babysitter.

"Hurry up, slowpoke!" he grinned over his shoulder at Ganymede when he passed him. Ha! That's what he got for being a jerk. It probably also helped that Oberon wasn't wearing ridiculous heels.

It completely slipped his mind that he had a huge bow on his butt.

There had been more wood to get through, once Athene managed to get to the other side of the river, which had meant yet more branches, roots and leaves to stumble his way through. He seemed to be making better progress than before… Or maybe the dark-haired senshi was getting used to trying not to stumble over tree roots and fallen branches – at any rate he could still sense that strange strong energy somewhere up ahead and that had to count for something. At least he hoped it did.

And then the path forked, snaking away both left and right, leaving him with a bit of a dilemma – which of the two was the best path, right or left. After a few moments indecision Athene set off down the left path as fast as he could, while hoping that he hadn’t picked a route that ended up doing something awful like curving round back to the start.

Hypnos' slippers were soaked from the stream and every step she made was followed by the annoying waterlogged squeak from her bunny slippers. She could take them off but the thought of wandering around with just her stockings to cover her feet seemed much worse than the sound currently accompanying her. It didn't stop her from catching up to Oberon on the other side of the stream though and it was very obvious that she was pleased when she finally managed to catch up with the other child. It was a great mystery and she was very eager to solve it, finding out just how this chibi senshi knew her when she was not aware of him.

"Oberon," she repeated quietly to herself.

Her question may have been partly answered but that wasn't the end of it because the mystery of how he knew her was still floating around like the stars above them. She didn't have to wait very long as Oberon began to stutter something that didn't quite finish which was then followed by something that made total sense to her and probably only her. "We met in a tree before! And shared my lunch! You took me to your planet for Christmas! We went swimming!" and "We met as kittens, too!!" both lingered in her mind, quickly a smile rising her to face. The words Oberon said painted a vivid picture for Hypnos. There was only one answer and now he fit very snugly into the puzzle.

"How surprising!" She said, holding back all of her questions so she wouldn't be left behind. "I'm so happy to hear it though! You'll have to tell me all about it later." She giggled, the waterlogged slippers she had on barely seeming to phase the feeling that made her so lighthearted that no amount of water in her slippers could slow her down and keep her away from Peter, and Oberon both. She would have to tell him she was Ainsley, and then they could go on even more adventures together! There would be no need for secrets anymore and it all started with what seemed to be a wish on a fallen star.

Up ahead, Mica could see a fork in the road. It was hard to tell which way the meteor lay, so she couldn’t choose a direction based on that. Getting closer, the two paths looked the same too. When she finally reached the fork, Mica went left, only because she thought she had seen the leader of this impromptu race – some fellow Chaos agent – take that direction. She figured that some of those Order brats would attempt to slow them down, so from her position towards the back of the pack she figured she’d have a chance to slow people down.

Bits of dirt stuck to her boots, wet and soggy from drowning in the river. Fukalite looked down at her shoes and frowned. The lieutenant took a moment to attempt to brush away gravel, but new steps only attracted more grime and dust. It didn’t take her long to realize cleaning her shoes was a futile effort. It would be wiser to ignore the stains and continue forward. Luckily, her trek through the forest was not as bad now. At least she wasn’t clumsily tripping over roots or running not branches.

Unfortunately, she then came upon a forked road. She slowed to a halt and considered her meager options. It was either left or right, really. She could always leave, but that just didn’t seem like an option. After a moment of pondering, Fukalite shrugged and opted to go for the right road. It was right, so maybe it was the right! Pun intended.
