She hadn't been paying attention when she stepped onto the next tile and got a boot to the head. A spiked boot to the head.

Candace was so sick of this s**t. She'd attempt it two more times before she just...gave up. Ten attempts was more than enough. It was a very good thing Aria had taken back the three golem rule.

She would like to think she was learning. The first and second steps were always the easiest! It was after step three she had a hard time...

Candace was holding her side as she looked down at the tile in front of her. Humming thoughtfully, she dropped a flag on the tile. It exploded.

Welp! On to the next one!

ATTEMPT TEN

"This is it, Atropos. If I don't succeed this time I give up." Candace refused to accept being a failure but ten attempts was more than enough for one day. If she didn't make it to the other side this time she'd come back later. She was tired.

In her tired stress she couldn't remember which square was the safe one. She unclipped the flag from her golem's belt and dropped it down on one that exploded.

...Yup. Next tile. Candace sighed and stepped onto the next tile only for a beartrap to clamp down around her leg. She shouted with pain and pried it open. SON OF A b***h!

Did she step on the right tile? Was it the wrong tile? Or did someone just get sick of seeing her fail?

Whatever the case, Candace's golem's head was no longer attached to its body and she shoved herself out of her pod with a frustrated yell. ******** THE DEATH COURSE! UGH!
