You have the sort of strength, confidence, and physique that would have had you picked for Lead material in my clan." He smiled, but it was short lived. Where Calder also noticed when someone was tense, like many creatures, he grew nervous when another was nervous. Jericho was putting him on edge, and his ears went up, back straightened, and ears went up and turned about to listen. His nostrils flared a moment to breath in, as if waiting to pick up a scent.
Nothing.
His eyes darted from the door back to Jericho. "Well, yes. I've seen a lot of horns in this school, and you horns are very impressive. Long, strong, with a variation of color, not to mention ridged." He let his hand coast down the horn he was filing with a smile. "Not a chip or crack or anything."

Jericho was quiet for a little bit there, with no snappish remarks this time around. He still wasn't so sure about what Calder was saying, but he did actually sound pretty sincere. Trying to not think about potential dangers, the dragon focused on his horns right now. He needed to take his mind off of things.
"I.. do kinda try to keep them in good shape in general," he said, "Never know when I might need to headbutt something. You also seem to know quite a bit about horns."

"Oh well....I do think they are very handsome - so I maaayyy have read up on them a bit. Seen a few pictures." Pictures attached to lovely boils just as fit and firm as Jericho.
His mind was very much distracted again as he looked at the boil leaning against him. "Doesn't your girlfriend think you have nice horns?"

"Girlfriend? I don't have a girlfriend," Jericho blinked, seemingly distracted for the time being. It was true though, he didn't have one. He wasn't even really sure where Calder got that idea.

Jericho was confused. Though, his aggravation was starting to pick up again. Why did it matter?
"What? It's been years since I've had a girlfriend. Who the Jack did you think I was with?" he said with agitation.

Calder threw his hands up. Who knew talking to Jericho would be such a conversational landmine. "Whoa. You need to relax! I didn't mean anything by it. It's just...." He dropped his hands. "I would think you've have one. I mean....Jack-it, Jericho. Look at you." He gestured with his file at the boil's abs, before resuming his horn filing with a tad more pinkness to his complexion.
"You need to not be so touchy. Do you really think I'm the type of person to just insult you?"

The dragon let out a sigh while rubbing his forehead some more. It seemed he was a lot touchier than usual. He was trying to relax. Really! But it felt like just about everything was setting him off.
"Well, you did take a lot of shots at Riley before," he murmured, "But yeah. I don't have a girlfriend."

"Well, yeah. That's Riley. I was talking about you, not her." He was working on the other horn before he set it aside and started to message Jericho's shoulders. "You need to not be so short fused, especially with the ability to literally burn someone to a crisp. You should look into meditation. We're learning about it in N.A.P. Helps you take life as it comes, and just unwind......" He looked down at Jericho's shoulders. "....and from feeling these knots, you really need to. My, and your really buff." His shoulders were so firm!

"Meditation?" he repeated inquisitively. He knew what it was, but it wasn't really something he thought of. It didn't really seem like something he'd do, really.
Jericho shifted a bit as Calder started to massage his shoulders. It did feel kinda nice. Slowly, he was beginning to relax.
Well, at least until he could have sworn he heard someone in the hallways again.

Calder felt it was actually working and was glad that Jericho wasn't so touchy, but he felt his body tense every few seconds, and his eyes dart to the door. It was unnerving, and Calder had the instinct that when creatures around him went on alert, he also did the same. It was how you noticed predators were about to run like hell to the closest river.
Calder heard and saw nothing though.
Frowning, Calder placed a hand on Jericho's brow, leaning the boy's head back in order to look directly into his eyes. "Jericho, what is wrong?" It was spoken in a firm yet concerned voice. "You're freaking me out here. You keep tensing and it's putting me on edge."

"What's wrong? Nothing.. Nothing's wrong!" he said quickly while glancing around. Though Calder tried, he didn't really look directly back at the other boy. No, his attention was kind of elsewhere. While Jericho had been silent for a little bit up until that point, it was fairly apparent that he never really fully relaxed, though.
"I'm just.. I don't know. I'm fine. Really! Nothing's wrong." he added.

Jericho was lying, and it hurt that he would lie directly to his face. Sure, they weren't best buddies, and Jericho probably still hated him for how he treated Riley, but he thought that after everything -
The kelpie frowned, and then turned his head and bite Jericho on his ear. Nipping was a disciplinary action for him. If you were a bad little colt, you got nipped. Jericho was lying.
After the bite, Calder placed both hands Jericho's horns to keep his head in place, and then glared down at the boil. "You're lying! You're as open as a book Jericho, and you are lying about being fine. What is wrong with you? Why can't you tell me? Is it some secret that I can't know or do you just not trust me as far as you can throw me?"

Ok, that didn't hurt that badly but it was definitely unexpected. Glaring up at the Kelpie, Jericho would have sat up, but he was currently being held in place by the horns. Grumbling, he looked to the side, not answering right away. He didn't even really know how to say it but most likely it'd just end up making him look crazy. And he wasn't crazy!
Definitely. Not.
"Look. I just keep feeling like someone's lurking around." he huffed out.

Calder loosened his grip on Jericho's horns, looking about and letting his ears perk. He listened for a moment, eyes wide, nostrils flared, and ears turning to the slightest sound.
He heard nothing.
Calder looked back at his fellow monster with a frown. "Do you think you're being followed?
