Infernos nodded while listening to Lailah, though part of his attention was focused on the fact she was stroking her pillow oddly. He decided not to question it instead to offer his name again to her.
" Infernos, honour to meet you and to serve with you"
It was just that in his mind, an honour, to be with so many willing to train to become defenders of faith. Even Lailah, who seemed just a little hostile towards him at first.
" I understand well, right now I believe I have a lack in magical talent and would likely blind myself if I tried. So Shroud Breaker is one of my greatest of abilities since we've trained together for quite some time. Though the ability to heal myself and others is something I'm very eager to learn about it even if I'm unlikely to use it often"

Katya said nothing as a couple of the others contributed to the lesson in their own way, though most remained silent. With a wan smile, she realized that she was paying more attention to the interactions between her fellow squires than to the lesson. So it had always been with her. She hadn't even reacted when the fluid had splashed atop her, chin resting in her palm, though her hair now covered her eyes and she couldn't see anything.
The young demon was particularly fascinated with how diverse their personalities had turned out to be. Really, she wasn't sure what she should have expected. She'd of course initially assumed they might be similar to her in personality, or perhaps a little more devout or pious. The friction in the air between Lailah and Infernos (mostly coming from Lailah) was proving far more interesting than the subject of magic.
At which point she realized that she wasn't doing a very good job of being a squire if she wasn't absorbing something. She leaned forward once more, trying to make sense of Archmage Tansa's words.

Pleased that she'd woken the class up by this point, and even more pleased that they were discussing magic, Tansa waited for the discussion to die down. She was going to correct the agitated young lady, but one of her classmates beat her to it. She was glad they were absorbing the information she had to teach.
"Infernos is correct. As I mentioned, your magic comes from The Guardians. So you will be using the Light, which will function like AiKa, untampered. You will not have to deal with Magic Karma, but those Pae'il on the island will have to, so it is your job to help them with it. Teach them how to defend themselves without hurting others. Teach them how to use their other abilities. As leaders, you will also be teachers. Remember that."
Tansa turned and waved her hand and the furniture in the room began to rearrange. Everything moved to the walls, leaving only the crystal in the center of the room. There was now a large open space on the other side of the classroom, big enough for the squires to practice the spells they'd learn next.
"As Squires and the future leaders of Telrunya, you all need to know how to create your shields and light lance. These are simple spells, once mastered, but they will take focus and time before they are mastered. You can't learn magic in a day."
"Sit up, close your eyes and center yourself. I know some of you are tired, some think this is a useless class, and others are just aggrivated. But in order to perform spells, you must have clear focus. Once your mind is calm and clear, spread out and pick a place where you can practice."
After each Squire has found their center and found a place in the class to stand and practice, Tansa gives the instructions on creating the Holy Aegis. First, each student must envistion that they are merely a conduit for the light. An instrument of the Guardians and they must open their mind and extend the light contained within up to the sky into the heavens. This is a completely mental excercise that once mastered, will become second nature and can be done without hesitation.
Once a connection has been made to the heavens, each student is to "call" their aegis in the ancient language. "Galadmor". While they are young and still inexperienced, they will be required to say the word in order to create their light shield. But with practice, focus and training, this too will become second-nature and merely require a thought to congure the Holy Aegis.
Each Holy Aegis will materialize as a golden shield on the arm of the Pae. The details and look are unique to each Pae, depending on their personality. Players are free to be as creative as they want when descriping their shield.
"And remember, Squires, you must channel your energy to maintain the shield. The shield will only hold out for as long as you can sustain it. As you get older and practice using your energy, you will find that your spells can go further."
For now, Squires will not be able to maintain a shield for a long time, because they don't have much magic energy to use, and they have not been practicing ways to use it sparingly.
To practice and get better with energy usage, they simply need to meditate, pray and push themselves daily with their magic.
"Once each of you can hold a shield for at least five seconds, I will teach you the word for your Light Lance."
Turning towards Dante, Tansa flights over, and purses her lips. She whistles a very specific four-note melody. "Sheilds are basic. If you can whistle that melody, it will be the same as saying the word. If you can't whistle, that melody will work on any instrument." She conjures a small flute and hands to the boy. "Try it both ways. With practice, you'll be able to conjure your shield with just a thought like the others. Other magic isn't quite as easy, but protecting oneself is a basic part of life, so the spell really becomes an extension of you."
Patting Dante's shoulder with her tiny hand, Tansa gives a smile and flits over towards Lailah. "Don't be afraid of magic. It is powerful and chaotic, but it bends to your will, once you can master it. All it takes is patience and practice." She smiled and bowed her head, hoping the words of encouragement serve to help, and not agrivate her futher.

Infernos' attention was pulled towards the instructor when he spoke to the class once more. He'd not known Tansa well before this class, but his respect for her as an instructor was growing. He had not thought of himself as a leader of Telrunya before now, but if the rest of the island were to be brought into the Light, they needed someone to show them the way.
Infernos stood up and moved away from the other squires to find an open area to himself in which to practice his first spell. A protecting shield spell would certainly be useful in the upcoming war against the ancients, their powers were unknown and could be deadly. Infernos gathered his thoughts into attempting to channel the Light into him to power his own aegis, something he'd not done yet, though was eager to try. Closing his eyes, Infernos focused on feeling the Light flow into him, he started to feel warm, tingly, almost like being hugged. It was strange at first, but it was pleasant and peaceful. Feeling that he was ready to try his own aegis, Infernos uttered the word for the spell, and held his hands in front of himself.
"Galadmor"
Infernos' eyes shot open as a flash of light appeared in front of him. For half a second it looked like he summoned a wall of fire made of light and caused him to guard his face with his arms. The light had vanished at that point and Infernos lowered his guard. He had not completed an aegis, but it was a start. He knew with time he could do it.

Harveer listened closely to everything Tansa had to say. She had proven to be good to listen to so far, why not continue more. And then it was time to meditate. The pale angel grinned a bit. This was something he was good at doing, and doing quickly.
He took a few steps away from the rest of the squires, closing his eyes as he did so. First was to find a calm spot that reminded him of the gardens. That was easy enough. Then came the light, it wasn't too far of a stretch for him to imagine it, though the feeling was far more amazing than anything he'd ever experienced before. Harveer was unable to put it into words exactly what it felt like to channel the light through his body. A flare of light near him after the spoken word. The pale blue white squire's concentration was broken for a moment while he watched Infernos summon and loose his aegis. This had to be harder than it looked.
Taking a deep breath, Harveer started over. It wasn't too long before he was where he had been before Infernos had distracted him. "Galadmor." He whispered, opening his golden eyes to see if it had worked. It had, and without nearly as much flash as the others he'd seen around the room.
He'd had enough time to catch a good look of what appeared to be a snowflake on his arm. He briefly recalled wondering why he'd gotten a pansy snowflake of all things before he realized it matched his skin tones. He sighed a bit, sitting down. He'd lost it well before the five seconds was up. Well at least he had a golden snowflake. Lots of holes to cover for, but then he had another just as useful shield at his disposal if he could master it...

Dante sits cross-legged on his pillow and inhales deeply, centering his energy and clearing his mind. He tucks his pad and pencil under his thigh and rests his hands on his knees. He closes his eyes and inhales again, using the meditation he'd learned as a child. Inhale, count to seven. Hold, count to seven. Exhale, count to seven. He imagines his spirit as a pillar of steam, with a small bowl sitting in front of him. He condenses his spirit-steam into the bowl, where it settles as warm water.
Dante open his eyes. He is centered. He stands up and walks to a spot in the room with no others in it. Galadmor. What a beautiful word. He hopes one day the Guardians would see fit to grant him speech so he might recite it.
He looks up as Archmage Tansa comes over to him. He repeats the melody in a whistle, smiling. He'd always been good with music. He takes the flute from her politely, but silently thinks perhaps a flute of his own making would respond to him better. No matter; he'd try all his options and see what worked best. He hopes the whistle is effective; it wouldn't do to be dependent on instruments he could lose or break. Or have taken away... Dante nods at her instructions and watches her leave. This is exciting! They're learning real magic! And Dante is confident that he can master these spells with dedication and practice.
He practices whistling the melody a few times before really concentrating his energy to make the aegis. He closes his eyes and centers himself once again. He opens his eyes, and whistles the melody.
And is nearly toppled over backwards by the sudden appearance of a golden shield. Spade-shaped, spanning from chin to knee. He supposes if he crouched behind it, it would effectively cover all of him. Before Dante can look over the top, it disappears, leaving Dante feeling somewhat drained. Running a hand through his hair, Dante takes a deep breath and tries again. He whistles the four-note melody and the aegis appears once more. He looks over the top before it disappears again, marveling at the intricate details, almost as if it was made of carved wood. An ivy leaf in the center, with tendrils curling all around it.
It's only after a moment that Dante realizes he'd maintained the aegis for a good 15 seconds so far.

Lailah fell silent in response to Infernos' introduction. To be honest, it was more a frustrated silence, rather than acquiescence, but she didn't wish to draw any further attention to herself in the middle of class. And yet, after a moment, she gave her name in a muted voice. "Lailah." For once, she was pleased when the instruction continued, giving her an excuse to end the conversation.
She tried to pay better attention this time, absorbing the foreign knowledge as one would a strange, alien concept. Meaning, likely not well. But, she did her best, relieved that at least they were heading towards practical application rather than abstract theory. She wasn't too sure how she felt about all this 'teacher' business...but she liked the idea of being considered a leader anyway.
The angel tensed slightly as the Avalon fairy neared her, offering words of advice. It wasn't bad advice, Lailah was just feeling too self-conscious of her mistake earlier to feel particularly receptive. She nodded stiffly, trying to hang on to the thought of bending the magic to her will...rather than the reminder of all the needed patience and practice she'd need first. Too discouraging.
As Archmage Tansa moved on, Lailah took a deep breath to calm herself. Time to see what she could do. But first, she had to calm and focus. Concentrate on the Light. Become the Light. Become a directive for the Light. She closed her eyes, concentrating as she never had before. When she felt she was ready, she rose slowly, like one in a dream, and moved towards a clear section of the room to make her first try. This would be easy; it was just a simple shield, right? Just had to focus.
Another deep breath, and she put force behind the word as it left her lips.
"Galadmor!"
Silence hung in the air around the angel holding her arm out expectantly, still. After a few seconds, she opened one eye to dare a glance at her outstretched arm, then scowled at what she saw...or didn't see. "Guardians' breath," she cursed silently, fuming and bringing her fists down at her sides. She quivered with subdued frustration. Why couldn't she do this? This was supposed to be easy! Nevermind that this was her first time attempting to evoke a new spell on purpose. She should be able to do it! A glance around the room revealed that some of the others had already successfully summoned their shields. They must be silently laughing at her for failing to do the same! How dare they?!?
She felt her temper beginning to boil over, but caught herself before she could act on it. No, this was all that demon's fault for getting her all flustered earlier. Obviously, he had destroyed her perfect composure. Well, she'd show him. She'd show all of them. She was the Guardians' choice; there would be no doubt in that. She set about her calming ritual again, seeking to regain the lost focus, to center herself and block out all the distractions without. Without consciously thinking about it, she began tapping her middle finger of her right hand against her thigh, counting the taps, grouping them in series of fours. Breathe in. One, two, three, four. Breathe out. Relax. Breathe in. One, two, three, four. Breathe out. Relax.
The cycle continued for a few minutes, her posture slowly relaxing, her composure calming and steadying. Without opening her eyes, she again muttered, "Galadmor...", not allowing tension to creep back into her form, nor distraction to waver her focus. After a second, she braced herself and opened her eyes slowly...
...then her eyelids flew open at the glowing shape hovering over her left forearm. It was golden, like the rest of course, but the shape was all its own. A series of curved, pointed shapes intwined, like stylized briars; all twists and sharp points aimed outwards, as if to deter anyone from getting too near to their mistress. It held its form just long enough for her to get a good look at it, then it vanished again. Yet, she grinned, telling herself that this was only the start; she could only get better.

Focus and concentration. Essential qualities in many settings aside from magic. Eligor was well acquainted with them both, and many hours in the library had been devoted to their practice. Besides, this is what he had been waiting for most of all. Finally, a chance to actively pursue his magical interests with a knowledgable instructor as a guide! Sure, personal study was all good and well, but...you could only get so far with the basics on your own. Really, it was best to create a foundation of knowledge with an expert's help, then one could always continue with private study.
Still, perhaps he had an edge of sorts on the others here, as Eli was used to tuning out everything around him in order to focus on some object of study. This wasn't really all that different, just perhaps a bit more intense. He took little time to center his thoughts before moving away from the others to practice. Now...focus your thoughts, direct the Light, then bring it all together with...
"Galadmor," he murmured, his voice soft, but steady, his mind clear with purpose. His shield appeared, but not with the flash and ceremony that some of the others did. It was slow, transparent at first, before gaining a sense of corporeal form. It wasn't overly large, or small, or strangely shaped. There wasn't much to draw attention to it as some of the others. It was vaguely oval in shape, though not nearly close to his own height, curved outward from his arm. Golden, it seemed wrought of some fine ore, shiny and metallic in nature, with fine intricate patterns tracing the outer edge, like the illustrations of an ancient tome.
He was pleased by its appearance, but within a few seconds, he began to feel the strain. He was panting and beginning to break out in a sweat when he let the shield dissipate. Still, he'd done as was required for now, but he could see much practice ahead. He'd had no idea that magic could be so physical! Still, he'd have to train himself to deal with this as with any other trial. He would have been lying to say he enjoyed thinking of such an aspect, but if that was what was required to continue his magical studies, then that was what he would do.

Katya made sure to distance herself enough from the others to give her enough space. A side bonus just happened to be that she was a little more out of sight so nobody could see the trouble she was bound to have. She was not the most capable student; in combat she was physically frail, and with magic she tended to be too flighty to get the focus she needed.
That didn't stop her from trying, of course.
Focus. Now she had to push back the lofty wanderings of her imagination and visualize exactly what it was she needed to be doing. Galadmor. The word echoed in her mind, and she mouthed it silently, rehearsing it to herself before she even attempted to cast the simple spell. Katya closed her eyes and ignored what her ears were hearing, trying to sense and harness the energy, AiKa Tansa had called it, to form a barrier before her. By this time most of the other students had already made two attempts at forming the Aegis, something Katya remained ignorant of.
"Galadmor." She didn't sense anything. Opening her eyes, she saw that her forearm and hand remained bare of any magic. Her expression changed to one of disappointment, though she was hardly surprised. She never got anything on the first attempt. Katya cleared her thoughts and tried again. "Galadmor!" She said more firmly, reaching with every fiber of her being to make the shield appear, without any luck. A third, and fourth attempt produced nothing but empty air before her.
"Okay." The demon's cheeks were getting warm with frustration. "This shouldn't be this hard." She paused to think about what she was trying to achieve, what Tansa had said.
She wasn't controlling the power, she was but a servant of it, a channel. And for a moment it was like she could feel it, not reaching out and holding it, but flowing through her...
"Galadmor." Her voice was soft, but firm, and right in front of her forearm materialized a small, bright, round buckler, no more than two hand-widths across, but solid and steady in appearance despite its magical nature. She smiled, the object almost feeling like a natural extension of her own energy. To her surprise, it didn't feel like it was draining her at all. She let it dissipate, then summoned it again without a problem. That was unexpected.

Alethea hesitated in trying her own magic. She felt unprepared and unready. She watched each squire conjure their shield, some on first attempt, some not. She worried she'd not be able to at all. She watched with increased interest when Eligor conjured his shield. It was magnificent, and she let her thoughts drift momentarily as she envisioned what a wonderful knight he'd be someday, saving the damsels and the island.
Then the unwelcome thought of those damsels clouded her little fantasy thought as she envisioned herself poking out the eyes of each one of them. She flushed when she realized what she was doing, glad no one was a mind reader and praying to the Guardians that Tansa did not have that ability.
She closed her eyes and tried to focus. Guardians help me.
"Galadmore." She said, and then waited. She didn't feel anything. She opened her eyes and didn't see anything either. Her heart sunk. I knew I couldn't do it.
Another thought entered her mind. I have to protect those I love. She glanced at a certain demon then smiled. She'd protect him with her life, and if conjuring this shield was all she had to do in order to protect him, she would master this spell and become the best at it.
"Galadmore," she said again, this time with fervor and feeling it in her heart how important this was to her. She felt the weight on her left arm and just as some of her classmates shields had appeared quickly, so had hers. It was small, shaped like a tapered shield usually is, but cut in half length-wise, and about half the size. And along the curved, left side was a single angel wing, with feathers outstretch to give the illusion that the shield was bigger than it was.
She was not amused. She was insulted, if she had to put a label on how she felt. Her disheartened feeling caused the shield to disappear as quickly as it had appeared. She tried to not let her disappointment show. Even the simple fact that she'd performed magic for the first time in life was eclipsed by the horrible feeling that she was being mocked by the Guardians and only able to conjure half of a shield.

((I apologize for leaving this hanging for so long. I'm going to try and get this wrapped up as soon as I can, so I will be rushing through the rest of the information.
As a reminder, it is assumed all squires are present for this. Also, the information on using magic will apply to all pae, it is just being introduced via this RP.
Tansa will only be responding to individual students now if they directly ask her a question or do something to warrent individual attention. She's not purposely ignoring anyone.))
The crystal in the center of the room glowed bright with each shield that was conjured. Right now, they are expelling a lot of their energy, because it's new for them, but with practice, it will take very little effort and energy to conjure these shields.
Tansa watched each student with pride. She knew the Guardians had chosen well because each one of them were able to conjure their shield with little effort. Even the ones that appeared to struggle, even if they didn't know it, they still showed aptitude for this. It usually takes weeks for a Pae'il to be able to do this magic.
Tansa beemed, knowing the island would be in good hands.
"Wonderful! I'd like each of you take a few minutes to rest and build your energy back up."
She waved her hand with a broad arc, and in front of each squire, a small stoppered bottle would appear. Inside the bottle-which is about the size of an apple-is an ice-blue transparent liquid. "This is the only bottle of this potion you will receive, so use it sparingly. Just a sip will revitalize you enough to cast again. I am providing this energy potion for the purposes of learning in this class, and your Healing class, so don't drink it all." she explained.
"While you rest, I want to tell you about this potion. It must be brewed by a proper Alchemist or Potion Master, and it takes a long time to ferment, so it's not abundantly available. We procured these for your training, and there should be just enough to last the duration." She noticed some hesitancy with some students in drinking it, so she reassured them that it tastes like berrywater, and all it takes is a sip. She also warned that if the bigger the drink, the more energy they will have and too much can be dangerous. Normal doses of this potion come in small vials, but it is part of their trials to learn how to budget their resources.
After a small break, Tansa resumed the training. "Your shields will save your lives, but you will need to be able to fight to protect yourself as well. And there will be times when you are separated from your weapon. For this reason, you will have a Light Lance that you can conjure just like your shield, but acts like a sword."
Tansa demonstrated by conjuring a sword that was in proportion to her size. It was small, white and glowed a brilliant gold. She touched the blade with her free hand. "It looks white-hot, but it's just a blade, and functions just the same." The Light Lance then disappeared. "It is like your shield, and should only be conjured when you need it, otherwise you will waste your Light."
She instructed the squires the proper method for conjuring the sword, including the ancient conjuration:Kalimel, and the four-note alternative.
The process will be the same as conjuring the shields, and the look of each Light Lance will be similar, unlike the unique look of the shields.
"Once you've managed to keep a Light Lance active for 15 seconds, I want you to pick a partner and practice. One will swing their lance at their partner, who will have to conjure their shield to block the blow." She grinned and watched for just a moment for reactions before further explaining. "Remember, these are real weapons, so if you don't want to get hurt, you will have to be quick with your shield. And if I catch anyone going easy on their partner for fear of injuring them, I will report you to Hania, the Fight Instructor, and he'll not go very easy on you. And if you haven't met him yet, I should warn you, he's tough and very unforgiving on weak pae." She laced her fingers together as she grinned at the squires. They'd learn compassion from the Heal teacher, but for now, they need not have bleeding hearts as they are competing against each other.

Dante sits on the pillow he'd chosen earlier to rest. He hadn't realized how much conjuring the shield had taken out of him. Gratefully he accepts the potion bottle, which looks extra refreshing because of its color. As he listens to Archmage Tansa, he uncorks the bottle and takes a tiny sip. It's sweeter than he'd expected, and doesn't have a syrupy texture at all. Like she'd said, it tastes like berrywater. Hm.
He recorks it and sets it in his lap while he listens to her explain how the potion is made. Potion-making was never really his interest, but he supposes learning is learning. He jots a few notes in his notepad.
His attention piques considerably when she announces they were learning another spell. A weapon this time. Oh my. He takes as many notes as he can, and draws a box around the beautiful word: Kalimel. He vows one day he'll be able to use these ancient and powerful words to work his magic. Until then, the four-note alternative unique to him would have to do. He makes a note of it also, using musical notation, and whistles it quietly to himself.
Wait, what? Had she just said they'd have to....to spar? He glances wildly around to gauge the reactions of his peers. Judging by their expressions, that's definitely what Archmage Tansa had just said. Dante swallows hard. And here he'd hoped to excel in Magic class. He doesn't want to embarrass himself in front of the Archmage, but he also doesn't want to practice magic on another person. Especially while he's such a novice....
Well, he might as well begin practicing. He stands up, setting the potion and his notepad to the side of his pillow, and closes his eyes, doing his centering exercise again. Pillar of steam. Bowl of warm water. Opening his eyes, he focuses his attention on his right hand and whistles the four-note spell.
Fleetingly he feels the cold, smooth glide of metal across his palm, but it disappears. He hadn't even seen it. Frowning, he takes a deep breath and tries again, this time using the flute Archmage Tansa had given him. This time the lance materializes completely. It feels hard and foreign in his palm, unlike the comforting feel of the wooden shield or his staff. Perhaps if he practiced long enough he could make the lance be wood as well. His lance disappears after about 5 seconds, but he practices a few more times and eventually can keep it active for 15 or 20 seconds. Smiling nervously, Dante looks around to see who else was ready to practice. He prays to the Guardians he isn't paired with Lailah.

Eligor had managed to break into a sweat by the end of the shield-summoning training. Ick; magic should not be so physical. He gratefully collapsed to the ground to rest before the next lesson, listening with intense interest as the mysterious bottles were explained. He held his up to the light, looking through it, then acknowledging that he could use a little refreshment right now, removed the stopper and took a tiny sip. It was definitely not unpleasant. Still, he'd been cautioned, so he only took a little, then replaced the stopper to save the rest for later. He felt re-energized, ready to go again, though the sweat was still drying from his skin.
He committed the new information, the weapon shape, usage, and most importantly, the incantation to memory as Tansa spoke. He climbed to his feet again, brushing himself off. Well, here goes, he thought to himself, taking a deep breath. All around, the other Squires were doing the same, focusing on summoning their first Light Lance. After focusing his thoughts, Eligor murmured, "Kalimel..."
It took a few attempts before he could get the weapon to stay corporeal for more than a couple seconds, but finally, he felt that he was starting to get the hang of it. Well, he could sustain it for a few seconds anyway before it began to waver. Practice would likely improve his time. For now, they were supposed to practice with a single strike, so perhaps a few seconds was sufficient.
He looked around for another Squire who seemed successful in their attempts and his eyes locked on the mute angel, Dante. Crossing to the other male, he halted and cleared his throat. "Excuse me? I believe that we're supposed to pair up to practice. Would you do me the honor of sparring with me, comrade?" he asked, bowing politely to his fellow Squire.

Katya caught herself scowling. Hania. She wanted to avoid encounters with that instructor as much as possible. But then striking at each other using these real weapons? Katya was more than a little hesitant; after all, it wasn't as though they were combat experts yet or anything. The little red demon was already in the middle of her sip of potion before she remembered it had to be taken sparingly. Counting herself fortunate that she didn't consume (much) more than she needed, Katya focused on the task at hand.
Having listened intently to Archmage Tansa's instructions, she tried to channel her energy, her focus, into a tangible manifestation of her magic, picturing a weapon materializing in her hand. She closed her eyes and uttered the incantation. "Kalimel." Katya didn't have to open her eyes. Her hand felt suspiciously light.
"No surprises there." She muttered. "Kalimel." Nothing. She focused harder on being a conduit of the light energy that she knew wasn't hers, but a gift from the guardians, just like she had when summoning her shield. And yet again, nothing happened.
Katya frowned. Hadn't Archmage Tansa said that this would be the same as summoning the shield? What was she doing wrong? She glanced around and saw Dante and Eligor in quick succession managing to summon their lances. That was to be expected, of course. Three, then four attempts had passed before Katya was able to restrain her growing frustration and think logically for a second. Pause, and take a step back.
The fire-red demon extended her off-hand. "Kalimel." And then there it was, gleaming in the light, and feeling a bit more unnatural than her shield did. It wasn't exactly a large weapon, but somehow it felt heavy and exhausting to sustain. Before long it flickered out of existance, leaving a bewildered Katya wondering why her stout, brilliant shield had been easier to summon than a simple lance. And why it seemed possible only in her off-hand.
Katya figured it would be best to maybe get some gentle practice in, which would rule out the more physical squires in the group. She turned to Dante to ask for a spar, but let her mouth hang open in dismay briefly as Eligor- the other she'd been considering as a sparring partner- asked Dante first.
