Defensive stations? Defensive stations?! What the hell was a defensive station? s**t. "Inner Wards? That means.... inside, right? Like... wait, you think they mean by Excalibur?!" Madison's eyes widened. Wasn't the sword responsible for maintaining wards?
Her brain whirled. "We should definitely go back. No question. But then, maybe split up? There's a lot of us, so we could cover more ground and still keep in touch. But whatever's come in is back there, not out here. We need to go now." She sheathed Kouki's blades and took a step towards the main compound, squinting at the fog.

"Ow." Otto rubbed his head and narrowed his eyes at Gale a moment before scoffing and turning away. Some accident..
Otto got out his phone again as it apparently had some important message to tell, eyeing it carefully, then pocketing it as he looked back at inland. Of course, he was not pleased to hear Gale was one of the ones in charge. But at least Jude was among them. He could tolerate Jude to a degree. He may had even considered him okay were it not for their unfortunate encounter while high on Joy.
Reluctantly, he awaited orders.

He kept his weapon summoned even as the creature was defeated he gazed around making sure everyone was ... more or less alright. Jude cleared his throat a bit before he responded to Gale, "Well if we are going to head back in...Those with the least damage to them should probably take up the back just in case anything tries to ambush us from behind."
Jude seemed resistant to using the word 'weaker'.
"You know, to watch our flank as we head in." Jude wasn't sure if there were more waiting for them as they moved to get inside but he didn't exactly feel like taking that risk.

By the time Wilson ambled back to his feet, the rest of the trainees had the situation under control. He watched Eva deal the finishing blow and he nodded approvingly, whistling a low note of admiration. “Nice one.” Wilson and his weapon knew that he probably would have never been able to deal a finishing blow.
Pulling his mask down, he walked over to Otto and briefly glanced at the boy’s cellphone as he spoke of the other divisions. “Really? Well, that’s not very good. Are they okay?” His thoughts first went to the mist division, and then drifted over to the moon division with Dakota and Ryan. Hopefully the rest of the hunter trainees were fairing well. Wilson nearly choked at Derryk’s comment. “The life girls…in pajamas with pillows?” He wasn’t even sure if he wanted to inquire about how the hell that had happened. Perhaps it was better if he didn’t know. He shook his head at Derryk. “My weapon doesn’t have any info on it.” He tends to be too forgetful in the first place. His partner protested loudly in his head.
Wilson flipped open his phone and then scrutinized Gale. “They’re gone? Really? Just up and left us?” That was great timing. “I’m not sure if I like the idea of splitting up. Together it was relatively easy to destroy that monster.” He half-nodded to the spot the tree once was. “So if we meet another one of those things it shouldn’t be too bad.”

Well, that went unusually smooth.
"I think we should send a text to the other intermediate hunters about our location, if we intend to head back in," She frowned, speaking to Gale, Jude and Madison, "So we're not dispatched to the same station and leave others unguarded."
A pause.
"Aberrant Life Form... Like the one we just defeated?" She sighed, her frown deepening, "Either way, we should probably head in now. Maybe send a text to Clarice to clarify."

"They had a mission," came the cryptic reply from Gale to Wilson, which really didn't explain much. But, then again, it wasn't as if their superiors had given the Intermediates any explanation either except for "WE'RE GOING YOU'RE IN CHARGE FAIL AND DIE."
Or maybe that was just Caelius.
The phone in Gale's pocket let off an obnoxious, piercing beep. He dragged it out again.
Death guys doing okay? Moon, Sun all is well. Took down some beasties. Heading to Life.
"According to Bix, both the Moon and Sun divisions are just fine. His group is heading over towards the Life, but according to him - " Gale's eyes flickered towards Otto briefly - that Division is also doing fine. Has anyone heard anything from the Mists?"
"And I would assume so," he said, in answer to Ariane's question. "You're right, we need to leave now. I don't think we should split up yet, since the rest of the groups are still together - at least to my knowledge," added Gale, with a glance at Jude and Maddie. "Let's stick together for now and just go. Maddie and I can take the front, with Jude and Ariane in the back, the rest in between, if that makes sense."
Gale was already beginning to walk briskly towards the main Headquarters, raising a hand and waving to the rest of the trainees.
"Everyone, back to the building!" he shouted through the thick fog. "We're going in."
His phone clicked open again.
Lizbot C - what's going on? What aberrant life forms are inside Deus? We've just defeated one back here; how are the rest of you doing?

Deryk didn't have any further input as he listened to the other death hunters talk of what their next steps would be. He didn't think that splitting up was a very good idea at this point either. They didn't know how many of these.. 'aberrant' lifeforms were out there. They were better off together for the time being.
"Ah! Yes sir! On my way!" he nodded briskly before beginning to follow Gale towards the main building. He kept an eye on the fog, hoping there wouldn't be too many other beasties waiting to pounce upon them all.
That would be bad.

Stupidly, belatedly, right after he'd sent the message to Clarice, Gale realized that she was, in fact, no where near the Deus Ex Machina Headquarters, considering that she was with the rest of the senior Hunters.
And he'd just sent her a text message while she was in the middle of a mission.
Talk about a screw up. Gale decided if Caelius didn't kill him when he got back, he'd go apologize to Clarice and hope she didn't find him incompetent.
His phone bleeped.Quote: We're in Halloween, will be returning soon but time difference between portal trips is unpredictable. May be minutes, may be hours. Make sure nothing gets near the labs.
Oops.
"Get to the labs," he instructed the rest of the hunters. "The department heads and division leaders are on their way back."

Jude gave a short nod toward Gale and once they had a 'final' destination to head to Jude went toward it after giving a longing backwards glance toward the sea before he went into the labs.

Wilson kept staring at Gale. It wasn’t exactly the most in formative answer, but he supposed it would have to do. Sometimes the division leaders weren’t the best at being detailed either. He shook his head ‘no’ at the blonde’s question. “I don’t think we’ve heard from them yet.” Wilson paused, eyebrows furrowed as he appeared worried. “I’ll go text one of them and see what’s up.” Well, the mists had probably encountered another “aberrant lifeform” as well, but it was probably finished by now, right…? He pushed the thought away and quickly punched in a message.
soliloquy in aria m, youre with the other mist trainees right? are you guys ok?
Once he clicked ‘send’ he flipped the phone shut and slipped it back into his pockets. He followed after Gale. Wilson curiously stared at the younger boy. For someone younger than almost everyone else, he knew how to take charge. Interesting. An uneasy smile tugged at his lips. “They’re coming back?” He wasn’t sure if he should be filled with relief, dread, or both.

Aleister looked around bewildered as everyone ran off towards the labs. "Can't I just stay back and watch the perimeter?"
<No. Shake a leg kid, this isn't the time to be a scardy ghoul!>
Aleister frowned and ran after everyone else. "Wait for me!!!"

Madison followed as well, frowning as the fog swirled around them. Familiar figures turned to shadows in the mist, but her gaze was drawn to one particular shadow that had an unfamiliar edge...
Her gaze narrowed. She moved.

"Away we go... Well, you first," She grinned before allowing everyone to walk in front of her, taking the back since she had been asked to; if this 'intruder' was strong enough to infiltrate the inner wards...? Well, it's no wonder the higher-ups were on their way back.

Eva might have zoned out a little. No matter--when she noticed that everyone else was leaving, the girl snapped out of her daydreaming to run follow after them.
