Socika 1. Well perhaps you should make questions more clear than. I did. In the bottom line of post 17 or 18, Quote: In terms of having connections with others and trying to not be a d**k, they are self-destructive to this end. -------- Quote: Yes relationships are effected, but in my oppinion it doesn't matter. And you have not explained why. All you did was go on about how it doesn't affect nature so therefore it doesn't matter. Not a very compelling argument but if that's all you have then I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Quote: I honestly have no idea what the point you're trying to make is. Then pay attention to what is being typed wink Quote: I'm not saying arrogant people can't do nice things eighter. I'm simply saying that people who have to behave too ''opposite of arrogant'' can be even more annoying. And again what does this have to do with what we are discussing? Your derailing attempts are getting old. Quote: Simple, believing that they're not baseless. for some it isn't even a matter of choice it's a belief that's considerd a fact. Heavy indoctrination comes to mind or simple disregard for the reality. Not all lies are told by liars... And how is that not lying to oneself? You've just proven my point. Quote: I don't see why arrogance would nesserally lead to lies as you seem to imply. Quote: How does one maintain an an attitude of superiority that's based on assumptions, especially when these assumptions are baseless?

1. No they aren't self destructive in terms of having connections with others. Connections can still exist no matter how arrogant you get, yes some connections will suffer but some wont, it depends on the person. However not all connections matter anyway. Do all the people you know matter to you? 2. Quote: "Niceness" has little to do with being or not being arrogant. Arrogant people still do "nice" things. Quote: I'm not saying arrogant people can't do nice things eighter. I'm simply saying that people who have to behave too ''opposite of arrogant'' can be even more annoying. Quote: And again what does this have to do with what we are discussing? Your derailing attempts are getting old. Just answering you, not derailing sorry if you take it that way. 3. Ok now you're quoting things out of context, please don't do that. Quote: I don't see why arrogance would nesserally lead to lies as you seem to imply. Quote: not all asumptions are baseless, some are correct (depends on the intelligence of the person making them). But when they're baseless Quote: Simple, believing that they're not baseless. for some it isn't even a matter of choice it's a belief that's considerd a fact. Heavy indoctrination comes to mind or simple disregard for the reality. Is it really a lie if it's believed to be the truth. Personally I don't think for a second my great grandmother would ever try to decieve me, but she did always tell me god will hear the prayrs. Was she lying to me? And even if for the sake of argument we say that is a lie. still not all arrogance leads to lying as proven in the begining of 3rd point.

Connections can still exist no matter how arrogant you get, yes some connections will suffer but some wont, it depends on the person. However not all connections matter anyway. Do all the people you know matter to you? I'm aware that our interactions with people affect people whether we realize it or not. Why should I not try to have the best interactions with people that I can? Yes some don't suffer due to arrogance but in my experience so far, most do suffer. I do value what connections I make with people since such connections impact me and I hope that my connections impact others. I sometimes screw up and impact people in ways I don't want but I make what peace I can and move on. In regards to your question, yes all the people I know matter to me. My friends and my enemies impact me in various ways and help me grow as a person. I can only hope I do the same. Quote: 2. Quote: "Niceness" has little to do with being or not being arrogant. Quote: not all asumptions are baseless, some are correct (depends on the intelligence of the person making them). If I misread it then I'm sorry but that is exactly what you wrote. If there is intelligence and thought behind an assumption then it's not baseless, ergo not relevant to "baseless assumptions". Quote: Is it really a lie if it's believed to be the truth. Personally I don't think for a second my great grandmother would ever try to decieve me, but she did always tell me god will hear the prayrs. Was she lying to me? Concerning your argument here: Did your great grandmother make an assumption regarding prayer with little to no thought? Was she overbearing because of her prayers being answered? If not then your antedate, and by extension your argument, is invalid, since that's not arrogance.

Actually the point I was making is that not everything that's untrue is a lie. So even if arrogance is baseless it is not nessery to lead to a lie (very likely but not nessery)

Socika Actually the point I was making is that not everything that's untrue is a lie. So even if arrogance is baseless it is not nessery to lead to a lie (very likely but not nessery) No it's not. Ignorance of facts must be taken into account. Being ignorant on something is not the same as having a baseless assumption though. :/ You can still be thoughtful on something if you are lacking access to the details. If I came off as stating otherwise I'm sorry. In my experience so far, people that are arrogant tend to willing close themselves off to new information since it tends to change their perspective, especially when it affects their feelings of superiority. Now this doesn't mean that arrogant people don't learn new things or are incapable of changing, it's that they tend to be a bit more prone to confirmation bias when it comes to information that conflicts with the assumptions that give them their feelings of superiority. Am I making sense? I just woke up lol.

Isn't just about everyone prone to conformation bias, especially if the belief is extremely strong

Socika Isn't just about everyone prone to conformation bias, especially if the belief is extremely strong Yes we all are. Most, if not all, people have to train themselves to avoid confirmation bias. Arrogant people, though, tend to be less likely to address it and less willing to accept peer review. Since addressing it means acknowledging that one might lose that which give them their feelings of superiority and accepting peer review implies admitting that they aren't as superior as they thought they were. Now this is just what I've noticed in general. I'm sure there are notable exceptions but normally it plays out this way.

The God of the Hebrew Bible is the same God as the New Testament. Just because Jesus was sent to die on the cross, doesn't mean the HB is obsolete. It's not simply a historical document to teach about the Israelites. What it is is a portrait of the characteristics of Yahweh through His interactions with the nations and the nations with Him. The recurring theme of the HB is Israel strays from Yahweh, Yahweh saves Israel, Israel strays from Yahweh, Yahweh saves Israel, and so on. This theme is extremely apparent in the time of the kings. When a king failed to direct his nation toward Yahweh, He sent a prophet with a reminder, plea, or warning of the consequences of continuing living as they were. As scripture says multiple times, God is slow to anger, and He didn't promise the destruction of Jerusalem until Mennasseh's reign in the 7th century BC. However, this pattern didn't just stop with this destruction. Most of the minor prophets prophesied about the "remnants of Israel" aka. the scattered nation of Yahweh. These remnants remained.... crap gotta go. I'll finish this thought tomorrow! 3nodding
